Layered Leather and Swooshy Pink

I was not terribly inspired when I picked my outfit last night. I really need to take some time and do a big try-on session in my closet and put some looks together. However, I'm not mad at this outfit.
I love all the pieces, and I felt good in it. And it's not blah by any stretch of the imagination.

  • Leather top - Danier Leather, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) in August with gold leather pants
  • Shirt - Yest; last seen here under a plaid bustier in August
  • Skirt - H&M, consignment; last worn here in January with greys for brunch
  • Shoes - Asos, consignment; last seen here in October in a silver fox outfit
  • Coat (below) - Sfizio, consignment; last worn here in January

So obviously, it's me, not the outfit.
I kept this leather tee out for winter, thinking of layering possibilities. The front is leather with embellishments; the back and sleeves are a thick knit.

I layered a classic white shirt under it. White shirts don't give me joy, but they are useful for this sort of thing. I get a new one every couple of years (I like sleeveless ones too, for less bulk).
The pink and black skirt is a long-time fave. I've had it for a little over 4 years, paid only $9.50 for it, and this is its 10th wearing - woot, under a dollar per wear! Tt has nice deep pockets and it's very swooshy.

Masked up.
Thank you to my colleague Flavia for coming up to my desk to see what I was wearing today - I so miss chatting fashion with my stylish colleagues!

Outerwear - I'm not feeling this coat. It's going into the giveaway pile.
Why? I just don't grab for it, and I can't jam my hands in the pockets (darn you, horizonal flap pockets!). I paid $75.00 for it in 2019 and I've worn it 9 times. Good enough!

Accoutrements:
My mask has kitties on it!

  • Fur boa - thrifted
  • Suede gloves - thrifted
  • Beret - consignment
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
I admit, I felt like a badass striding around the office in these shoes. Buckles, studs, pointy toes and lug soles - I'm in heaven.

Silver bling:
I slipped the choker under the shirt collar.

  • Choker - Myka, thrifted
  • Silver/gold cuff - JPL, vintage fair
  • Bangle - vintage 1920s, vintage mall
  • Ring - POLY, vintage fair
  • Earrings - thrifted

Thanks so much, everyone, for your very kind words on my Peacock Jacket - I really do appreciate your support of my artistic endeavours!

  1. Hello dear. I love how you layered the leather top over the white shirt. White shirts are wonderful for layering. The skirt is very beautiful too and I like the shoes you wore with it. Yes, it is fun talking about fashion with collegues.

  2. I really like this outfit! you layer so well, it's something I feel I always struggle with as not many days require much layering here!

  3. This is my third viewing of your outfit and I have finally concluded -- I'd lose to see the skirt as a pair of pants! In my imagination, the skirt has become palazzo pants! No idea why, but that's what keeps popping to mind. Nonetheless, it's a spiffy skirt and the ensemble speaks to quiet strength. I think it's the layered top and those super shoes!

  4. Keeping out that leather top for Winter was a great idea, as it looks fabulous layered on top of that white shirt. The pink and black skirt is gorgeous and pockets are always a bonus. I'm hearing you on the coat pockets, though. I need pockets to shove my hands inside in Winter!
I do wish I had colleagues - even just one would do - who came to check out what I was wearing. I've got only one colleague and she is the opposite of fashionable and never comments on what I'm wearing. xxx

  5. I have an occasion to dress up tomorrow to head to my daughters concert in downtown Minneapolis at a beautiful venue. I have to see the weather though-it's supposed to be cold and I try and plan for the worst. I'm going to peruse your site for some ideas.

  6. I like the layering in your outfit Shiela, the leather top is quite cool.
I have to say that I’d reconsider on the coat, it’s a nice style and suits you, I do agree that pockets are more comfortable though..
    The boa.. Wow!

  7. Definitely not a blah outfit from where I'm sitting!
The leather top is a real statement piece. I'd wallpaper a room in the print of your skirt, it's stunning! xxx

  8. Lovely layering, great idea to keep the leather top in your wardrobe, it's a fab piece!, and it rocks with the printed skirt. Love that it has pockets!
And love those shoes, and your badass attitude!

  9. I think that coat is gorgeous (with a distinct mid-century vibe to it), but hear you for sure. Impractical pockets are the pits! I am so with you there! It would usually be better if they didn't even bother with pockets in the first place then.

  10. Those shoes are excellent! And the contrast between crisp white shirt and rockin' leather tee is ace.
