Brown Corduroy Suit and Pink Blouse (and Shredded Tights)

Another week, here we go. Only a few more outfits left in the fall/winter season of my closet!

Today's outfit features a blouse I haven't worn yet, and a repeat of this new-to-me suit and one of my favourite pairs of shoes that deserved another wearing.
I saw a few people in the office today, and nearly everyone commented on this gorgeous wide-wale cord suit.

  • Suit: JL Bennett, vintage 90s, thrifted; first seen here in October 2020 with yellow owls
  • Blouse - Cache (cash-AY!), thrifted; last worn here in June 2018 with Valentino
  • Shoes - Queen of Prussia Louise, Fluevog; last seen here (2nd outfit) in January with blue and wine

It's so gorgeous and soft - it's like wearing a teddy bear.
I suppose at some point I'll wear the pieces as separates, but for now, I'm just enjoying the brief blip of popularity that suits are going through.
"I would like to go in the hallway."

All buttoned up. I only wore it like this when going to and from work.

I also didn't take the jacket off, but here it is so you can have a proper gander at the blouse. I have a pale pink cami on as well, but it blends into my skin.
It's a lovely pale pink stretch silk, with snaps instead of buttons. I do find it tricky to wear, other than with browns and tans, but I adore the equestrian bit-and chain motifs on it. I haven't had it very long (this is only its 4th wear), but I only paid $10 for it.

You know I look for my patterns to line up. It's a hallmark of quality!
You might have noticed that I have matching pale pink nylons on with a diamond tone-on-tone design.

Masked up.
"Woman! You are not paying attention to me!"

Sadly, I lost my balance on the way home and wiped out on the sidewalk, shredding the whole front of my left shin. Other than a bit of damage to my pride, and some road-rash (I have a boo-boo, it hurts!), I'm fine, but the tights are now toast. Dang. Good thing they were only $1.99.

I attempted to put the Fuzzy Flamingo on, but was defeated by the massive shoulder pads in this blazer. Screw it, I'm skipping a coat!
"I'm just going to sit here and stare at the door. What a sad cat I am."

I was a little chilly in the morning, but not too bad.

Outerwear bling:
A nice thick silk scarf to keep my neck warm, and cashmere-lined long leather gloves for my hands/wrists.

  • Scarf - vintage, thrifted
  • Gloves - Club Monaco, consignment
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
These shoes are so pretty. They are actually very comfy to wear on a quiet day in the office.

Excessive bling:
I loaded it on!

  • Chunky gold necklace - Givenchy, vintage 80s, vintage fair
  • Bead/wire necklace - Oscar & Libby's
  • Gold chain - Grandma J's, vintage 80s
  • Earrings - Hamilton, ON
  • Chain/leather bracelet - thrifted
  • Bangle - faux Gucci, gift from Mom & Dad, Italy, c. 1987
  • Tortoiseshell link bracelet - J. Crew, thrifted
  • Silver/crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop, Florence, Italy
  • Amber ring - c. 1997

Check out the gorgeous view of the Castle this morning.
I love that morning light!

  1. Soft pink with chocolate, taupe, or silver gray are some of my favorite combos. I wonder if gold or a bronze rust would work with the blouse? What a beautiful morning picture of the castle.

    1. I love those combos too, Chalotalo - I have also worn the blouse with olive green. I like the idea of rust/gold, will have to try those.

I have this view every morning! I'm so lucky.

  2. Brown and pink make for a brilliant color combo. What a wonderful descriptor for suit ... like a teddy bear. And how fitting it is to wear a lot of chains with chain pattern blouse.

    1. Thanks so much, Rena! It is like a squishy teddy bear. I do love to pile on the chains!

  3. Oh no, I'm sorry you took a tumble and shredded those tights.
That suit looks fabulous and the blouse has a Gucci look to it, the print really is perfectly aligned, unlike most modern stuff!
You've captured that morning light perfectly! xxx

    1. I'm sorry too, although to be truthful, I didn't really like the pale pink of them on me.

Yes, it's totally vintage Gucci-looking, isn't it? You know I look for things like aligned prints!

It's the most beautiful light - love it! Thanks, honey!

  4. I love the retro suit! Looks fabulous. Lise

  5. Hi Sheila,

An office professional look with a bit of flair. I’m a fan of tailored outfits, and this one looks comfortable and perfect on you. As for what else to wear with the top....pattern mix it with a bottom (likely trousers) that are a subtle plaid or herringbone in the lighter colors. Of course, that means finding a pair that meets those specifications! Another possibility is a solid patterned bottom in a complementary color to the tones of the blouse. Ah, it’s so easy to be an arm-chair suggestor. ;)

Sending TLC to your shin. 🤗

    Cheers, Laurie

    1. Thanks so much, Laurie! Yes, you're right, a nice brown tweed or plaid would look great - I will have to keep my eyes peeled for some. I love the ideas, thank you!

Thanks, it is sore, but fine.

  6. I like the brown and pink together but sorry to hear you took a tumble and the tights are no more! It's good you were on your way home so you could rest up - I hope it's nothing too serious!

    1. Thank you so much, Mica! Ah, me and tumbling...I fall down frequently, unfortunately! It's just road-rash (scrape of the surface of the skin), some blood, but lots of pain from all the nerve-endings. It'll heal up in a couple of days.

  7. I'm so sorry for your tumble amd glad only the tights were the major casualty. I love a good suit. I wore them more in previous jobs but still have occasional needs. I've evem donned the jacket for zoom but with a lot less style than you.

    1. Well, and my pride, lol, Sam! Thank you. I LOVE suits, always have - they are so classy! A good suit jacket is gold on one's wardrobe! I'm sure you are the most stylin' person on your Zoom call!

  8. Sorry 'bout the mishap. Hope you heal quickly.

  9. This cord suit is gorgeous, no wonder you got a lot of compliments. I love suits and skirts and blazer are my favourite suit combo. I sometimes wear my suits separately and sometimes together. The accessories are fab as well. I also like your shoes and the tights. Sorry about the fall and ruined tights but at least you weren't injured. Have a great day ahead.

    1. It's such a gorgeous suit, Ivana - I love them as well. Thanks so much! I hate it when I wipe out, but I'm fine. I didn't really like the tights anyway!

  10. I shredded my tights too yesterday, sustaining the biggest ladder in them I've had in many years. Only I don't know how it happened ... So sorry you took a tumble: you are allowed to feel sorry for yourself, Sheila!
Your cord suit is rather lovely, in colour and shape, and the silky blouse is just perfect with it. And wow, look at all that fabulous bling!
Always nice to be treated to a view of the castle too. I rather envy you that view! xxx

    1. Oh my gosh, the two of us are ruining tights right and left, Ann! I fall frequently (enough that I'm usually very cautious), so this is nothing new that I've ripped another pair of tights. Sigh.

Thank you so much, my dear! Bring on the bling, ha ha!

      It's a gorgeous view - I'm very lucky!

  11. Wow, is that a view or what! I'm glad you didn't break anything! That must have hurt a lot, I feel for you. I love a skirt suit. And brown is such a gorgeous color!

    1. It is an amazing view (although I'm zooming in with the camera for it!). I'm also glad I didn't break anything, although ouch, my poor shin.

I adore a skirt suit too, thank you, Nancy!

  12. Oooh, that does sound painful! Shame about the tights. What a lovely suit and the blouse looked lovely with it. Hope you manage to get more wear out of it soon. I won't even contemplate switching wardrobes over for at least another few weeks - we have snow forecast for next week!

    1. I actually wasn't really feeling the tights, so I'm not too upset, Vronni, but thank you!

I love this suit, and am happy to get another wearing out of it - hopefully we'll be back to semi-normal by September when I unpack it from its summer hibernation, and I'll be able to wear it more.

Zoiks, snow?? We have rain rain rain for the next few months, but I always have layered things and coats and sweaters in my spring/summer wardrobe. I just don't need all the really heavy and dark stuff going in to spring.

  13. OMG! Poor you! I hope your shin heals quickly.

    Gorgeous suit.

    1. Thanks, Nana, it's well on the way to being all better. Thank you!

  14. Three huge cheers for suits experiencing a bit of a moment again. It's high time, if you ask me!

The castle really is looking especially stunning bathed in early spring sunshine that all but whispers, "winter is gone and you'll need not worry about it again for several months".

    Autumn Zenith 🧡 Witchcrafted Life

    1. I love that suits are in again, Autumn - they should always be in style!

Isn't it lovely? I enjoy seeing all the changing light in the morning.

  15. Oh Sheila, I am swooning over your corduroy suit! How fun is that! And the pink chain print blouse is super pretty. Love this whole outfit!

  16. Great suit and I was going to say, those tights really up the game, only to read you fell. Poor you and what a pity of the tights.
Like you, I always look for patterns to line up as well. My mum taught me that when she was sewing clothes for me when I was young.

    1. Yup, it sucks for the tights - I'm mostly healed now. Patterns that line up or are balanced are the best!
