Birthday Week: Last Outfit, and Blue Desmonds

And here we are: I'm on vacation, it's Birthday Week, this is my last outfit of the spring/summer wardrobe, AND I bought a birthday present for myself with the help of my amazing Winesday Women.
That's a busy day!

  • Dress - Apanage; first seen here in August with rust sandals
  • Boots - Coffee Kope Tiam, Fluevog; last worn here (2nd outfit) with swooshy palm trees in July
  • Coat (below) - Lord & Taylor, thrifted; last seen here last week

The city was wreathed in fog all day, even though it was sunny and we could see blue sky.
I love the Castle in all weather.

I spent some time in my closet (my happy place) last night, pondering what to wear for my last outfit created from my spring/summer collection.
The autumnal colours of this dress decided for me, especially when I discovered how well my copper jewelry went with it.

The dress is a very light cotton and quite sheer - you can see my tattoos on my back through it.
I'm wearing a vintage slip under it for coverage, and to keep it from riding up - the fabric clings to itself.

Although I love this dress, it is not staying out for chilly fall days. Bring on the sweaters/jumpers!
These "shoulder season" garments are perfect for this time of year.

Masked up.
I liked how the light tones in this leopard mask worked with the dress pattern.

Outerwear - one last wearing of this delightful coat.
It's just right for warm weather but useless in fall/winter.

The stuff:
My lovely booties - I showed them off to Rae-Ann at the Fluevog store. Oh yeah, I went to the Fluevog store!

Copper bling:
The white parts on it are slightly crackled enamel.

  • Necklace/earrings - Matisse by Renoir, vintage 60s, vintage fair
  • Pearl ring - Erth, consignment
  • Brass/jade ring - vintage 70s, Mom's

So...Fluevog had a 3-day sale on the Big Presence Family of shoes last weekend...
...and that happens to be one of my favourite families...(I have these, these, these - those are all links to Flashbacks, scroll down to see them - and used to have these)

and they had just released a pair that caught my eye, the Big Presence Desmond in cobalt blue patent leather...
...with $99 knocked off the price!

And I had a $100 birthday gift card from Caro, Vero, Cat and Yvonne...
What's a girl to do? Buy the shoes!

I picked them up today from the store - my final price was $157.59 from the original $329.00, Fluevog site link  here (link 'cause I love), and they come in black too.
The box lid says, "There are two types of people in this world: those who shy away from attention,
and those who wear Fluevogs."

Do you love them? I do!
And I love my Winesday Women dearly! Thank you so much for helping me add these to my collection!

  4. Love the booties. The greatest contribution (among many) you've made to my life was to introduce me to the Fluevog brand. I remember at the beginning puzzling over its strange spelling, the fact I'd never heard of it, etc. Then I tuned in and... wow! Thanks. A lot.

  6. Yay for vacations and birthday weeks! And what a gorgeous dress you picked for your final Spring/Summer outfit. I love its Autumn vibes and the copper bling and those fabulous boots are its perfect companions. What a great deal on those Fluevogs, it would have been downright silly not to make use of it, and spend your birthday voucher at the same time. The cobalt blue colour is stunning, and I love how the heels align to make a heart! You really do have the best shoes, Sheila! xxx

  13. Massively so! I don't own much cobalt at present, but it is actually one of my favourite hues to wear, and is (humbly) a shade that I tend to get an inordinate amount of compliments about when I do sport (especially from my mom šŸ˜„).
