My Little Dragon

Jammy dress time!
A very RED jammy dress! Another new-to-me item gets a wearing on this fine nearly-Spring day.

  • Dress - Little Moon, consignment; purchased here for $49.99
  • Shoes - Cardinal Super Fine, Fluevog; last worn here (3rd outfit) in December 2019 for a Christmas party with a striped lame (lah-MAY!) dress
  • Coat (below) - Denny Rose, consignment; last seen here in December 2019

I had a lot of people tell me I looked like Chinese New Year due to the vibrant red with gold accents.
But it was a chat with a courier that gave me the post title today. I sign for oodles of packages, and as he typed my name in, he asked, "Does your husband call you She?"

"My brother and Mom do," I said, "My husband calls me 'My Little Dragon' before my first coffee." Actually, many of my friends (and L too) call me She.

I loved wearing this wonderful bright dress today - the rows of ruffles down the front and back.
The pleats on the front and back.
The POCKETS!

Outerwear - it was clear and cold again this morning, but it definitely was above 10 C on the way home.
I didn't even need my gloves!

  • Scarf - Danier, thrifted
  • Gloves - Cejon, thrifted

The stuff:
Comfy gold shoes - these are such a great neutral!

Gold bling:
I'd intended on wearing a belt with this dress (and I may yet do that at some point), but I ended up preferring it just being a long loose column.

  • Bracelet - Butler Fifth Avenue Collection, consignment
  • Necklace - Robert Larin, vintage 70s, gift from L
  • Amber ring - c. 1996
  • Gold earrings - 5th anniversary gift from L

I love a good jammy dress. A jammy dress that looks like a dressy dress is a very good thing indeed.

  2. That dress is a joy to behold! I love it with the gold shoes of wonder and that gem of a pendant.
L calling you "My Little Dragon" is hilarious. Jon's not a morning person either and I drive him mad singing and dancing round the bedroom when I bring his mug of tea upstairs! xxx

    1. I was so happy with it, Vix. I love the pendant too - this is my second Robert Larin piece, and I'd like to get more.

I know, he's playing off Basil Fawlty calling Sybil his little dragon. Jon, I'm with you on that morning madness!

  4. Wow, what a stunner of a dress, Sheila! It's jammy and dressy at the same time, too. Pleats, ruffles and pockets: what more can a girl want? The gold shoes and bling - and especially that magnificent pendant! - are perfect with it. Certainly very happiness inducing! Would love to have some clear and cold days, as opposed to all the miserable rain. Ha, I love it that L. calls you My Little Dragon :-) I used to be very much a morning person, but lately I'm certainly not at my best first thing. xxx

    1. Isn't it lovely, Ann? I'm so pleased with it. Our weather here's been so mercurial lately - typical spring.

I have never been a morning person, my mom will attest to that!

  7. Looove your unintentional Chinese New Year look – red and gold just go marvelously together.

How funny that L calls you ‘my little dragon’ before your first coffee. You must be feisty in the morning! X

    1. They really do - it's a favourite combo of mine. Thanks, Jess.

Hee, yes, I'm rather cranky, to put it mildly, especially in the face of someone being all cheery like L is.

  8. How do you always find such perfect coats to go along your colourful outfits? I absolutely love that red dress paired with golden shoes. The golden necklace is fantastic as well. You're right about this look having Chinese New Year vibes- I love that.

The little dragon thing made me smile. I'm a much sweeter person after I had my morning coffee too.

  9. The dress is such a yummy shade of red! I am not a morning person either, and I can't have caffeine, so it takes me longer to wake up than most people.
