Bringing PANK to the Gloom

Back to work today after five whole days off (including my pre-planned stay-cation in there), and wow, was my office dead. For a few hours, there were only 4 of us there, on 3 floors.
My boss gave me a quizzical eyebrow when he saw me. "I'm bringing PANK to the gloom," I said.

  • Dress - Essentiel Antwerp, consignment; last worn here (3rd outfit) in December 2019 with trout shoes
  • Shoes - Enneagram Individualist, Fluevog; last seen here in February for my last haircut (it's going to be a while before I get another one!)
  • Coat (below) - Vassali, consignment; last worn here a week ago

I had a reader/commenter request for PANK, so PANK ye shall have!
Why PANK? It's so pink...it's PANK!

It's a lovely loose swing dress.
To which I added very busy floral tights.

It has pockets! Yes!
I loved how my shoes went with this full look.

Outerwear - it was chilly in the morning (and oh, did it ever feel early!).
I am done with this coat - it's got a rip in the back now, and I just don't love it. Off it goes to the giveaway pile.

If stores ever reopen, if the world ever returns to semi-normal, I'll look for a new long black coat.
It'll be hard to top the pizzazz of this one, but I have faith that an even better black coat is out there. Thank you, coat!

I first wore it here in December 2012, and bought it here in November 2012 for $72.00. I've probably worn it at least 5-10 times per year in just over 9 years, so I'm definitely under $2.00 per wear and probably closer to $1.00 per wear. I'm completely good with that.

  • Gloves - consignment

The stuff:
I love these shoes, and although they aren't quite PANK, they are still a pretty close match to the dress and tights.

  • Necklace - thrifted
  • Earrings - Kate Spade, consignment; purchased here for $13.50
  • Lapis lazuli ring/Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

I totally forgot to take a "bling" picture. D'oh! My brain was all scrambled from the stress of restocking "someone's" kitty treats after work. Mental note: go to stores mid-day!
"But did you get me more treats, Woman??"

I had to wait outside Bosley's Pet Food, distanced 6' apart from the other shoppers, as they were only letting in 2 people at a time. The wonderful staff got what I needed, and then I paid for it...except that all the debit machines were down!
"Answer the question, Woman! This is important business!"

I did, little loaf-cat. After running to the drug store to see if their ATM was working (no), or to ask if I could buy some cash (no, they said it was nation-wide, that the system was overwhelmed), I ran back to town and took some cash out at the bank (that worked). Phew! I feel frazzled!

It's a frazzly time, isn't it? I also realized that I forgot to include this close-up of me and Vizzini in my Vampire Anniversary post.
"Woman, you need some serious purr-therapy."

I really do! And I'll have lots of time for it, since my boss told me to stay home tomorrow and Thursday - I'll be back at work on Friday to check in on the office (I had 75 emails today to slog through).

A quick thank you to all of you who are out there reading and commenting! I really appreciate it. Stay safe, my friends.

    1. Thanks, Cynthia! Tights this heavily patterned and coloured can be really challenging to style without falling back on black, so I was really happy with how this worked.

  2. Thank pank for brightening up my day and I must say those shoes rule!

Vizzini has a "what the hell just happened" expression. Priceless :)

    Stay well!

  5. Pank! that's what my eyes needed this morning!
It sounds like your office is definitely a safe place to be working with all that space - phew!
What a nightmare with getting the cash to pay for Vizzini's treat, thank goodness you managed in the end. I hope he appreciated the efforts his mum made!

    1. It's amazing how much colour can do for the mood, isn't it, Vix? This one's a wake-me-up for sure.

Yes, the office feels pretty safe - they have someone cleaning all the door handles constantly for us too.

Arg, it was rough, but seriously, not that bad compared to others, I'm sure. He will be very happy to have more treats!

  7. Thank you for honoring my PANK request! You look amazing & the styling is great!
I was crying a few moments ago over my husband working an essential job and wanting him home with us.
This made me smile and resolve to "get my Lilly (Pulitzer) on" and shine in pink & green. Thanks I needed this post!

Aw, honey, I'm so sorry - that must be so hard on you. Good for you - getting dressed is self-care, and we need that right now. Hugs to you, my dear.

  10. Is there a heart-eyes in PANK? There should be.
    Thank you, Sheila!

  11. Yes to PANK! Especially when the main component is a dress from Essentiel Antwerp. Jos is picking me up from work and our pick-up point is right opposite the new Essentiel Antwerp store and then I automatically think of you! Next time I'm early, I'll cross the street and take a picture. There's a pink (not sure if it qualifies as PANK) in their window. Your whole outfit makes my heart sing, Sheila. The floral tights and necklace, those wonderful shoes: a true sight for sore eyes. "If the world ever returns to semi-normal" ... Sigh. I had another moment this morning, but going for a walk in the sunshine made it a lot better. Plus, seeing all the PANK in your post. The things we do for our kitties, eh? What a nightmare! xxx

    1. Hear, hear, Ann! Oh, that's awesome - that would be so dangerous if they were open! I love that we have that connection across the world. :) I would love to see a picture.

Hang in there, hon, nothing lasts forever! I'm glad you got some sunshine. Sigh, I know, thank goodness the little bugger's worth it.

  12. HA! I love Vizzini's expression in the last photo of you holding him! That is definitely some HOT PANK! I have been working from home since last Thursday, and I confess I've been wearing jeans or loose "comfy pants" and a sweatshirt. No one sees me except Sylvester, and I haven't felt motivated to dress up. I'm lucky our little pet food store in my neighbourhood is deemed an essential service so I can walk over and get whatever his royal highness needs. She is restricting it to one customer at a time too. Thank god for the sun the last couple of days.

Yeah, I've been defaulting to my house clothes too, and I'm resolving to not do it. I feel much better when I'm dressed. I'm glad to hear you have pet options! I know, bring on the sun!

  13. Thank you for your (almost) daily postings and positive attitude. Keep up the good work. So many bloggers are not posting with their usual frequency as they are not dressing up or going out. You are a beacon of hope in my in box!

My son just moved out with his Vizzini twin and I really miss the little devil but very happy they are together as they settle into their new home (my son is off work for two weeks with a cold) but with the construction site changes this could be much longer.....

    Enjoy your extra long weekend.
