Last Leopard and Buh-Bye Burgundy

And now, it Friday in what has felt like a week of Fridays...it's so strange, this thing we're all living in.

Well, I went to work today - there were only two of us in the entire office (three by the end of the day).
Neither of my coworkers batted an eye at my ensembles; they're all used to me. I do my miss my more fashionably-inclined colleagues, though. I know some of you are reading. Hello!

  • Sweater - Karl Lagerfeld, consignment; first worn here in February with florals and fringe
  • Skirt - Rena Rowan, vintage 90s, thrifted; last seen here in January with a teddy top and other animals
  • Shoes - Mini Qtee, Fluevog, consignment; last worn here in October 2019 on  a spooky Friday
  • Sleeveless coat (below) - Only, thrifted; last seen here at the beginning of the month

As we are nearing the end of the month, I'm wearing some of my favourite fall/winter things one more time before I do my spring/summer swap-over. Each of these pieces is a keeper!
I love the bigass sleeves and the rich burgundy colour of this cotton sweater. But, buh-bye! To hot for spring.

The plush faux fur finish of this skirt knocks me out. I spent much of my day petting it (it's no substitute for purr therapy, but it helps!).
I love leopard with a solid colour. But this fabric is a little heavy for hot weather, so this is the last wearing until September.

I'm not back at work until Tuesday, so I'm about to go into a long weekend. How lovely!
We'll be staying inside and amusing ourselves with music, reading, TV, movies and board games.

Outerwear - I struggled with the sleeves on this sweater when I first wore it. They simply do not fit inside coats.
Voila! I am so smart. And that's why you need a sleeveless coat in your coat wardrobe!

  • Hat - Edward Mann, vintage 60s, thrifted
  • Scarf - thrifted
  • Gloves - Parkhurst

The stuff:
Very comfy shoes, but I really didn't move around much today, aside from dashing to the drugstore quickly to stock up on chocolate and junk food for the weekend. Provisions!

Brassy bling:
I debated wearing a necklace instead of the cuffs, but none of my gajillion necklaces were quite right.

  • Brass/leather cuff - vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Poe cuff - Jezebel Charms, gift from L
  • Spinner ring - Twang & Pearl
  • Feather ring - Fossil, thrifted
  • Bronze ring - P. Sarpaneva, Finland, vintage 70s, vintage expo
  • Earrings - thrifted

And there we go, short and sweet - I'll be back soon with tales of adventure! Have a good one, my friends, and stay safe.

  1. I really like the burgundy and leopard together Sheila and it's good you were able to get out and go to the office - even if it was so very quiet! My husband's company has given up their office so he will be indefinitely working from home, where as I know there are still people using our office, even if I'll be working from home too.

    1. Thanks, Mica! It was good to be outside, walking, and good to check on the office. I actually had some urgent stuff that needed doing, so I'm glad I was there. It's a weird state of affairs, though.

  2. These are indeed strange times. It is so odd to watch the evening news and find there is only one topic. The brief traffic report shows our highways virtually empty. It is surreal to say the least.

The burgundy sweater is a classic and pairs so nicely with the animal print. You look smashing (as always).

Your spring is ahead of ours (I'm so jealous) and it will be fun to pack up the winter stuff and rediscover your spring/summer wardrobe. We are beginning to see glimmerings of spring here and I can't wait for it to be just a bit warmer so we can get outside more and maybe start tending the garden a bit, especially since we can't really go anywhere else.

Enjoy your long weekend and keep well.

    1. I can't even watch the evening news, Nana, I just find it too stressful. I know, the roads are so empty - it's really quiet in my semi-urban neighbourhood.

Thanks so much - it's a fairly low-key outfit for me, but I wanted to be comfy.

I'm really excited - I have a lot of new stuff to wear and make outfits from, and with not being able to shop, I'll really be working my wardrobe remixing skills. I hope your spring gets there soon - being outside with the flowers and nature is balm for the soul.

Happy weekend to you, my dear!

  3. So that's what sleeveless coats were invented for - I think I need one now, I'm always in a tussle with my sleeves!
Love this outfit, that fab jumper and the strokeable skirt. That's good that your more fashionably inclined colleagues can still admire your amazing outfits from a safe distance, ie., your blog!!
We've got snow forecast for this weekend, after such a lovely week this cold snap is a real shock to the system.
Have a wonderful weekend in, all three of you! xxx

    1. There you go! They have a use after all. Yes, I've been sending a few FYI emails to the office, and as people respond, I'm sending them my blog link so that they can stay in touch with me. It's really sweet.

Oh no, not snow! I hope you have enough rum! ;-P Happy weekend, to you and the boys!

  4. Strange days indeed. All things pass though..... We must keep reminding ourselves of this. Delightful ding dong bell sleeves, Sheila, and I love the fuzzy wuzziness of the skirt. Enjoy your weekend. Though all days are blending now....

    1. So true, Juliana, they do. Nothing lasts, not even times like these. Yes, they're triple bells, aren't they! I love the skirt texture.

I know, all the days feel very jumbled to me.

  5. I wish I had a fashionably inclined colleague at the best of times. I've been working with my one and only colleague for 6 years, and I'd be lucky if in all that time she commented on my outfit 6 times! My former colleague - a gay guy - was much better, he was actually looking forward to seeing what I was wearing each day! That said, I'm loving that Karl Lagerfeld jumper with the big-ass sleeves and as Vix remarked, that's why sleeveless coats were invented. Loving the thought of having a stroke-able skirt. Much safer than petting Phoebe, that's for sure! Have a wonderful weekend, my dear. We've been enjoying some well needed quiet time too! xxx

    1. Oh no, that sucks, Ann! I really love having people to talk to about my clothes every day at work. I am missing that now. Ha, thank goodness for your gay colleague! My gay and trans colleagues are also awesome with clothes talk!

Is our Phoebe cranky about being petted? What a naughty girl! Enjoy your quiet time with Jos.

  6. That leopard skirt is such a beauty and I love the jumper you paired it with. You wear earthly colours well. Your shoes are fantastic btw. You look quite dressed up in this one but in a tone down way if that makes sense. As much as I love bold colours, sometimes warm and earthly colours are the way to go. You look beautiful and chic.

I imagine it was odd being one of only two (eventually 3) people in the office. I'm slowly getting used to working from home and I have felt less stressed today. Tomorrow I'll try to find something relaxing to do. I think we all need some relaxation in these days.

    1. Thanks so much, Ivana - back in the 80s, I "had my colours done" (it was a thing) and I was either a Spring or an Autumn. I have always loved autumn colours, and always go back to them, no matter what colour my hair has been.

It was really weird. The cleaner and the security guard both came to check on me to make sure I was okay. I'm glad you are feeling less stressed, my dear! Hugs to you.

  7. Everyone seems to be playing board games except for me! Grrr, CBC is so boring- why won't he play Banagrams with me?!?!!
Your sleeves are brilliant (and you look so soft in that jumper!)
Only 3 workers- that's good you all have space though!x

  9. I would love to find a faux fur leopard skirt like that. Those two pieces go beautifully together. I went into our office for several hours last Tuesday, as it was the last day before we were not allowed back into the building. I'm slowly getting use to working from home but I miss my co-workers.

Yeah, I miss all my coworkers! It's really bizarre being in an empty building.
