Polka Dots and Pixels, and a Petulant Kitty

This is my first five-day work week since August, and I am feeling it. Is the weekend here yet?
Getting in my wearing this season of these red polka dot trousers - I've been very good with cutting back on my snacks and they are finally fitting again.

  • Silk blouse - Roche de Paris, vintage 80s, vintage fair; last worn here in June with a pirate skirt
  • Trousers - Tara Jarmon, consignment; last seen here in August 2018 with a pajama jacket
  • Shoes - Sol Sana; last worn here in August with a very short skirt
  • Coat (below) - Prosperity, consignment; last seen here (3rd outfit) on the long weekend with space pants

They are a snug fit, and I don't like my pants fitting overly tight, so they are a good way for me to keep myself in the right size range. I need to stay fitting in my favourite clothes!
"Going on about your stupid pants when I'm right here?"

Vizzini just plunked himself down in the doorway to the den when I started taking pictures. I knew he was paying attention because his ears were bent backwards, listening to the camera timer beeping.

I loved wearing this thick silk blouse again, and still get a kick out of the "modern" pixel pattern - pixels were new and exciting in the 80s!
"Seriously, no one cares."

Oh, Vizzini, what a petulant kitty you are! He completely refused to look at the camera, despite my coaxing.
"The camera loves me, but you don't."

I had to wear a coat in the morning, but was sweaty on the walk home - the sun came out!
"Ho hum, how dull you are, Woman."

Let's just throw another pattern in there, shall we?

The stuff:
These shoes are so comfy, and I love that angled block heel too. This is probably their last outing for the season, as they get packed away for six months soon.

Silver bling:
 Just a few bold pieces.

  • Earrings - Brenda Schoenfeld, 1992, vintage mall
  • Shield ring - Nine West
  • Silver/onyx ring - Tocara, vintage fair

Before I left the house in the morning, I looked to see where Vizzini had disappeared to - I found him out on the deck. Hey, watcha looking at, buddy?
"Something far more interesting than you."

I managed to coax him into the house and to sit with me.
"I know you're leaving me, but I accept this cuddle."

I need to go give him some attention and lap-time now!

  1. Cute outfit, I love polkadots they're so cheery and the blouse is very pretty. Don't pack away the shoes! They are very similar to what's debuting for fall/winter lots of whites, off whites and patterns in shoes. I was chilly this morning and then like you hot in the afternoon. I wore a suit jacket at work today and it was off and on all day. I find it hard choosing clothing this time of year.

    1. Oh, those shoes are getting packed away, Dar. I have close to 100 pairs, and they can't all stay out! I have to make room for the fall/winter shoes! You know I don't follow trends, although I like knowing what they are! Thanks so much!

I know, it's cold in the mornings now - I've been enjoying getting reacquainted with my coat collection. Layers is key!

  4. Shiela, your red polka dot pants look amazing on you- you look so slim.

Vizzini reminds me of a cute little cat I befriended last week. It looked like a young cat and was very frightened, so I gave it some food and hoped it would return but it hasn’t. I sure hope it does, black cats are so cute. X

    1. Oh, you are too kind, Jess! Thank you!

He is very cute. Aw, I hope that little black kitten is okay!

  5. The pants look amazing but I know what you mean about snug-ness. I have a pair of (women's) pants I want to wear often but they have no stretch in them and after struggling to pull them on, I lose the energy to continue wearing them regardless of how cute they are.

    1. Ooh, yes, and that non-stretchiness can do a number on our brains and self-confidence, can't it? I have to psych myself up for these!

  6. Vizzini: "I can hear the camera, so I'm going to come and refuse to pose." Cat's gonna cat!

Snacks do have a habit of creeping on... I'm so glad I've been able to give them up! Those trousers are better than snacks.

    1. Yes, you're so right, Mim! What a little devil he is.

I don't give them up entirely, but I try to do fruit + 0% Greek yoghurt instead of chips.

  7. I'm hearing you on the five day working week! But what a gorgeous outfit you've picked. Those polka dot trousers are definitely worth cutting back on snacks for. I should do the same but the weight doesn't shift as easily as it did before. The pixel pattern blouse and those marvellous shoes are just perfect with those trousers. I guess Vizzini was just being a typical cat, as I find it near to impossible to get Phoebe to look at the camera! Weekend is getting nearer ... xxx

    1. Three more years and I'm going to reduce my work week to 4 days, Ann! Aw, thank you so much - even as little as 5lbs really shows on my clothes, so I have to keep tabs on it. I wouldn't want to grow out of my Alexander McQueen trousers, or these lovely dotty babies!

Yes, Vizzini ignores my imprecations to pose. I have to get him in the right mood! Only two more days, we can do this!

  8. Almost weekend! My cats never pose normal. They always look totally different in photos then as how I see them. Does that make sense? Anyway, have a good evening!

  9. He's SUCH an intelligent cat! You can tell from the quantity of whiskers he has!
I do like those polka dot pants- they are pretty and I like the incentive of wearing them to keep a certain size- I should try that!!

  10. Oh Vizzini, such a pouty boy! You know we all love you. Those are excellent pants, and good on you for giving up the snacks. I need to eat less of those - I don't want to have to keep buying larger size pants.

  11. Totally loving all of this pattern play today Sheila! I had a bit of fun this evening trying on some new clothes and pattern play popped up quite by chance. Isn't it great that we have such fun with our clothes xxx

    1. Thanks, my dear! I need to so some playing in my closet - I'm finding my fall wardrobe a little intimidating/overwhelming right now. I need to find the fun!
