Zebra and Sorbets

Today was a gloomy, rainy day - very typical for the we(s)t coast of Canada, but not so much in August!
I'd had this outfit waiting in the wings for a cool-ish day, and today was it.

  • Sweater - Lacoste, vintage, thrifted; last seen here (3rd outfit) in January for a weekend shopping trip
  • Skirt - Chapter One, thrifted; purchased here for $8.50
  • Shoes - Prophecy; first worn here in July in a shoe-fart-a-thon

First wearing of this new-to-me corduroy skirt. I know it's supposed to be a zebra pattern, but I always see the Eye of Sauron from Lord of the Rings!
It's a pretty bossy pattern, so I went with a solid colour to let it be in charge. I love this soft pastel green wool sweater - it's by Lacoste, and made in France so you know that a) it's old and b) it's KLASSY.

It's the colour of lime sorbet, which we grew up calling sherbet (but pronouncing sher-bert).
And a lime sorbet totally goes well with raspberry sorbet, right?

Pink shoes and accessories!
I'd intended on wearing my pink salamander pin over the Lacoste logo on my chest, but it was too heavy for this sweater in that position, so I put my wee "S" pin there instead. Lacoste should pay ME to show their logo!

The stuff:
In addition to wearing a sweater, I wore nylons today to hopefully ameliorate the shoe-fart issues I had when I wore these bare-footed last time - and it worked! Not a single shoe-fart! These will have to stay out in my fall/winter wardrobe or be an early spring/late summer pair of shoes.

Pink bling:
I wish I'd worn more rings - my fingers felt naked all day.

  • Necklace/earrings - vintage 60s, Sherman, vintage fair

  1. I giggled to myself at your description of SHERBERT because that was my experience as a girl, too! I think we thought it was a hilarious name even then. I never put together that what we were actually eating was sorbet! Beautiful sweater color. I just thrifted a teal J. Crew sweater in a similar style to yours and can't wait to wear it. Those shoes look squishy and pleasing to the feel of the foot's step.

    1. Did we all grow up saying it that way, Mel-Bee? I never even heard of sorbet (Sor-Bay!) until I was an adult.

Thank you! Ooh, your sweater sounds lovely. Teal is a great colour. The shoes are quite squishy, especially with the extra padding I added.

  2. Is there any other way to pronounce sherbet? haha! I worry for my kids sometimes, the amount of words I use my own weird pronunciations for!

i never would have put green and pink together but you wear it so well - and it's a colour combo I've been seeing around more and more. i tried blush and olive and I've never gone bolder but there are all kinds of neon green and pink leopard print pieces I see around at the moment. I have a green kimono and a hot pink tee...I'll let you know if I ever try it!

    1. It used to bug me that we said sher-bert, but it was spelled without the extra "R".

Oh, I love pink and green together! It reminds me of flowers. Go bold, Mica, you can do it! I want to see that kimono/tee combo!

  3. This outfit appeals to me strongly for reasons I can't articulate. Just looking at it strikes a chord. That's part of why I enjoy your fashion so much: it triggers the femininity deep within me struggling to come out. You're a catalyst for that. Thank you!

    1. Interesting. It's in your wheelhouse (short skirt, long legs), and the colours are pretty classic "femme". Happy to ring your bell, darlin'!

  4. That skirt has such a stunning print! That's not just plain zebra, that's for certain. The sorbet colours were a great choice. That sweater's got such a lovely colour and yes, lime and raspberry are a yummy combo. That's one fabulous pair of shoes too. I never thought I would say that but I just did. That heel is just awesome! Just one more day now ... xxx

    1. It really appealed to me, Ann - it's a very bold zebra! Normally I would do an equally bold colour with it, but the pastels just seemed to work.

Whoa, that's a high compliment from you - I know how you feel about white soles! ;-P

      One more day...

  6. Oh love the pink and green here with the zebra skirt.
Lately I've been pinning over logos too!
How do you know the year of the pink bead necklace? I scored one recently in a consignment shop and want to know its era-

    1. Thank you, my dear. Seriously, I do not want to advertise for a company, no matter who they are!

I've done a ton of research on Sherman (this specific company), and I've also learned over time that this crystal necklace look was a HUGE thing in the late 50s/early 60s (my mother-in-law gave me hers from back then).
