Pink and Purple, Plus Tassels

I'm working not to fall into the "it's dark out, all items must be dark" trap with my clothes. Keep wearing bright colours, especially if they give you a mental or emotional lift.
This lovely purple and pink combo garnered many compliments today, and I felt bright and cheery in it, even when it rained out.

  • Jacket - Club Monaco, consignment; purchased here for $20.98
  • Top - Jacob, thrifted; purchased here for $5.95
  • Skirt - Beloved, thrifted; last seen here in March (one of my fave outfits of last year)
  • Shoes - Effortless Bebe, Fluevog; last worn here in August with a business dress
  • Sleeveless coat (below) - Only, thrifted; last seen here on the weekend over pink leather

It's hard to see the colour in the indoor pictures now that it's still dark when we get up in the mornings - the stair pose pic is the best for colours. That is bright pink and a plummy purple. Oh, and double tassels, both on the "rope" tie belt of the skirt and in my earrings.
First wearing of the thrifted pink sleeveless blouse (great, good colour, not too boobtastic or venturing into cleavage-land), and this lovely cotton jacket. It's like burlap in person, but not with all the scratchiness of real burlap.

Outerwear. I am looking longingly at all my lovely coats, but wearing a heavier coat over a blazer? Nope, still too warm for that!

  •  Gloves - thrifted

The stuff:
Such pretty pink metallic shoes! These were even better with tights (they have a bit of a heel fart with bare feet). So glad I kept them out to wear during the bleaker months. I have a feeling they will lift my spirits when I need it.

Pink bling:
I wore the pin on my jacket.

  • Pin - Eaton's
  • Earrings - consignment, Vancouver
  • Crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery, Florence
  • Ring - Dad's, c. 1960s, Frances Jewellers

  3. I love the pink and purple together! I need to be more adventurous, I've worn that colour combo with accessories a lot but not so often with my clothes. I have been trying to wear a lot more colour lately though - it's nice to try and experiment, and like you said it's a lovely mood booster when you need it!

  4. What a great tonic these pink shoes will be over the winter months. Yes, I come hot from my own pink ensemble and love that you remembered your pink shoes to add zing to your outfit.

    1. Agreed, Anna - so important to remember to keep some brights out in the gloomy months. We are pink sisters!

  6. I love this outfit (I know, I tell you that often, but I mean it!)

I totally get wanting to balance the grey weather with bright colors. Perfect! Of course I need to do the opposite--to counteract the over abundance of brilliant light here in the desert SW, I crave wearing quiet colors--especially indigo and grey.

    1. Thanks so much, Linda! I can see that, wanting to counter all the brightness with soothing neutrals. Totally makes sense...for both of us!
