It took me a good four hours today to go from mumbling to actually interacting with people at work.
Good thing the rest of me was loud - this is a lot of colour for a Monday!- Jacket - Paparazzi, thrifted; last seen here (2nd outfit) in April over blue
- Blouse - Jacob, consignment; purchased here in September for $19.98
- Skirt - Firenze, vintage 80s, thrifted; purchased here for $26.95
- Shoes - Marc; last worn here in March with black velvet pants
Despite all the colour, and the leather skirt, this is a pretty sedate outfit for me. I love the jacket - so much embroidery!
First wearing of the white crossover blouse (I have a baby blue cami under it in case of gaping; did not gape, I'm happy to report) and the lemon-metallic leather skirt.
I can't do this shade of yellow near my face (very bad) but I can sure wear it as a skirt. And doesn't it go nicely with my jacket?
It was warm enough not to need an extra layer, so I just threw on this glove/scarf set.
I was completely grossed out to discover moth-holes and moth-poop all over it, so I chucked the whole set and am now washing all my scarves. I should really do that at the end of the winter instead of just not opening that storage bin until the following fall!
- Scarf/gloves - thrifted
The stuff:
I liked the bright red shoes with the darker red cow-hair of the belt. These are such awesome shoes - I had a couple of coworkers ask me if they were new, but nope, I've had them for almost exactly four years - I first wore them here for my birthday in 2013.
Bling-bling:
I tried to wear all the colours, really!
- Belt - Gap, consignment
- Earrings - thrifted
- Lapis lazuli ring/Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
Cheers, to my dear blog-friends, Ally at Shybiker, and Anna of Anna's Island Style - they sent me presents!
The motorcycle card is from Ally, and Anna sent me a lovely postcard from Tresco, and a beautiful necklace.
It's made of pencil crayons.
It has a delightful smell of just-sharpened pencils. What lovely surprises to get in the mail on the same day - thank you both so much!
What a fabulous outfit to start the week Sheila! I'm in love with that embroidered jacket and so pleased to see that perfect leather skirt again, yes didn't you match these up well.
ReplyDeleteThat's such a good point about laundering scarves etc before packing them away - I'm guilty of just bundling mine up without a second thought.
I'm delighted that the necklace got there safely - not quite the five days that our postal service quoted, but as long as you got it okay.
Enjoy your week!
Anna x
Glad you approve (hee hee) of this one, Anna! I was so grossed out about the scarf - tossed it right away. I must do better with cleaning them before I stop using them, sigh. That was very quick for the necklace! My package took well over a month!
DeleteI love your outfit, Sheila! The jacket is fab! I love the red and yellow combo. The skirt is awesome and the shoes are wow! XXX
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sasha!
DeleteOh I love your colourful outfit! I'm still working up to wearing a lot of colour in one outfit, I sometimes feel a bit too bright when I do, I just need to practice it more, as I'd happily wear this and I love the way it looks on you!
ReplyDeleteWhat sweet gifts too, you have very thoughtful friends :)
Thank you, Mica! Balancing it with a strong neutral (the white blouse and the black background of the coat) helps to ground the colours. Go for it!
DeleteI know, aren't they awesome?
When evaluating your outfits, there are two frames of reference: Sheila's and everyone else's. Loud for them is quiet for you. :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, exactly, Ally! You get me. :)
DeleteThe jacket is a piece of art !!! and ugh how terrible about that discovery on your scarf.
ReplyDeleteIt really is. SO disappointed about the scarf and gloves. :(
DeleteGorgeous jacket and I love the yellow leather skirt!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Becky!
DeleteBummer about the scarf but at least you have put into place rescue efforts for the rest. Mumbling to actual vocalizing is an accomplishment. Heh. I know what you mean. Your outfit at least would clear a path during those four hours, no matter how sedate it felt. Love that metallic yellow.
ReplyDeleteYes, 'tis true. The scarf and gloves - and I just wore them! - gave me a case of the heebie-jeebies. Ugh, shudder. Vocalizing is a lot harder than people think! Thank you, my dear Mel. Get outta the way - yellow comin' through!
DeleteI'm in love with your embroidered jacket and the fabulous color combo you created!, that citron yellow is also one of the less flattering colors on me, but I still enjoy it, and it looks perfect with the red shoes!, so cool!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm also guilty of not laundering all my stuff before storage, sigh, I'm so lazy!
besos
Thank you! I am fond of red and yellow together - you really can't go wrong. I'm lazy too - it's good that we know it!
