Jeans Week: Avon Calling, Leopard and Leather Peplum

L took one look at me this morning and said, "That's...some outfit." Yes, I wore this to work all day, and my WW meeting after too!
And unlike yesterday's outfit, this felt like me. Don't get me wrong, that outfit was fine but this pushes all my buttons.

  • Leather top - H&M, consignment; first seen here in March with tweed and copper
  • Jeans - Mark. by Avon, thrifted; last worn here (4th outfit) in March with boots and orange sweater
  • Sandals - Dr. Scholls, consignment; last worn here in September 2016 with camo pants
  • Leather jacket (below) - Danier Couture, consignment; last seen here in March with lots of dots

It's maybe a little much for a Thursday, but I don't really care. I got a lot of love for my look today, and baby, I had swagger.

This leather top is such a good cut on me. It's like it was made for me. And I don't care that peplums are "so 2012".
Some people see black lace, some think they are velvet, but they are actually a stretchy denim with a slub texture, and it's just a crappy, blurry print up close. But aren't they cool? And they're by Avon! That Avon! That blows my mind.

Outerwear. I went with more leather. As one does.
It was too hot to wear it done up - I wore it open for my walk to/from work.

The stuff
My trusty Docs...Dr. Scholl's, that is. Until I found these, I did not know they made anything other than those weird wooden shoes I remember in the drug store when I was a kid. These are super-comfy and easy to wear all day.

Bronze bling:
One of the things that I overlooked in yesterday's outfit is that I didn't really put much effort into accessorizing it. That might have made me happier with it overall. Things to ponder.

  • Abstract cuff - Midzo, vintage expo
  • Etched cuff - 70s vintage, Mom's
  • Earrings - Plum
Accessories do make a difference. I like how my pieces make a statement. Delicate but tough. Strong.

  1. I love this outfit on you! Those are great pants and the peplum top is beautiful. It's nice when we were those outfits that just feel like us and e feel happy all day as a result!

I've had a few people say peplums are over but I see them around so much - I don't think they are going anywhere soon (not that it matters I know you wear what you love no matter the trend).

    1. Thank you, Gerrilyn! These are still not the greatest pants, but they're good enough for now.

  5. Go on girl, rock this look! I would wear this too, every single piece. Peplums suit our shape and that's regardless of fashion trends and what's in or out. If it works and looks this hot, then of course it's for keeps.

  6. The jacket over the peplum top looks so good as a way to finish off the look : it was the cherry on top.
This look rocks Sheila so I can see why you'd be feeling it.
