Today is Election Day in the province of BC, so I've just come from lining up for half an hour with my neighbours to put my X on my ballot.
I loathe the throngs of people and was getting cranky with all the queue-jumpers (being Canadian, we are generally good at lining up, as long as we feel it's fair). This is 100th anniversary of women's votes, so I have to do my part, even if I am momentarily stressed by it. It's a privilege I don't take lightly.- Top - Banana Republic, consignment; purchased here for $10.00
- Skirt - Melanie Lyne, thrifted; last seen here (3rd outfit) in April 2016 with silver boots
- Shoes - Effortless Vivian, Fluevog; last worn here (2nd outfit) in April with the stained glass dress
- Jacket (below) - Smoking Lily; last seen here in April as my topper with velvet and a ballet skirt
First wearing of this top; the texture is mesh-like and I wore a baby blue cami under it. Not sure that it looks so good in photos, though - I look like I'm wearing a white sports bra!
This shot is better.
I love this skirt - it's lined, it has pockets, and black racing stripes down the sides. I also like the irregular grid pattern of it, which has little flecks of baby blue in it (which is why I often wear it with blue).
Outerwear. It's feeling warmer, but I still need something. I'm enjoying rotating through all my blazers and jackets.
No nylons today either!
The stuff:
Lovely comfy shoes, although I made the error of walking to and from the other office in them, and got a blister on the back of my heel and on one toe. Ow.
Hole-y bling:
I like matching shapes as well as patterns, textures and colours.
- Belt - Lady Foot Locker, thrifted
- Cuff - thrifted
- Earrings - Plum
- Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
I took a couple of pictures of Vizzini last night, lounging around on his post on the deck.
"Must you bother me so, Woman?" |
"I am quite put out by your rude attitude." |
Good job getting your vote in---I'm a fan of it myself. I have a mesh top that is an actual children's large mesh sports top that I wear as a shirt. I go with a black bra-style thingie underneath.
ReplyDeleteYes, I might do a black tank under it next time - good plan!
DeleteOur polls were not busy when we went. The only person in front of me was my husband, LOL. Anyways, it's done now.
ReplyDeleteLove your outfit today!
Kicking myself for not doing the advance polls, but oh well! Interesting times, eh?
DeleteThanks, Sue!
Civic engagement is so important, I am glad you voted! Love your flecked skirt with the racing striped, looks like Prada to me. I also love that silver jacket and like te mesh tee from BR. I am crazy about those shoes! No nylons! That is a good day!
ReplyDeletelove from NYC!

Ha, Prada - not quite. Melanie Lyne is/was just a mall store for "ladies of a certain age" - I'm surprised they sold something this trendy. I know, no nylons felt so good!
DeleteI usually wear a gown to vote but was startled when I confused Tues and Wed. Doh. So I wore something else to go have my say. This is a wonderful voting outfit. The racing stripe down the side of the skirt is a cool detail. Sorry you had a lineup. Did you get a sticker? - "I voted." I love those! I'm so juvenile.
ReplyDeleteI would have loved to have worn something wacky, but I went and stood in line like a good Canadian, right after work. No, they were out of stickers! *pouts*
DeleteI love this outfit with its little hints of blue but I think you're right about the camisole - a black one would have been better. The shoes are fabulous and I loved your jacket - is it leather by any chance?? Lol.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Veronica! No, the jacket is actually a very thick and stretchy cotton/Lycra - the fabric is cream with a silver metallic finish on it. Isn't it cool?
DeleteYes, nobody should take voting lightly.
ReplyDeleteAnd I have to say that it does look like you're wearing a sports bra but it looks good from my side :)
Agreed! And yet, so few people vote!
DeleteHa, thank you for being honest, Lorena!
Voting is often frustrating, so much waiting around. It's illegal not to vote here so it can get really busy sometimes! I do really like that skirt of yours too :)
ReplyDeleteI almost wish they made it mandatory here too, Mica - maybe more people would take it seriously.
DeleteThank you!
I love the idea of the coloured top under the mesh one Sheila, but can see it's not living up to your expectations. Maybe a black one next time? The skirt is sweet and of course the shoes are a perfect match - too bad about the blisters x
ReplyDeleteAnna
Yes, I'll do a black under-layer next time - it didn't seem that bad in person, so maybe it's one of those things that only shows up in photos. Thank you!
DeleteVizzini's white whiskers and brows make me smile every time I see them.
ReplyDeleteMe too! He is such a pretty boy.
