Wearing some of my favourite things today: yellow, pattern, great shoes.
No special occasion, just another day at the office.- Jacket - Guess; last worn here in August 2016 with pows of yellow
- Top - Violet + Claire, thrifted; last seen here in April with a pagoda jacket (must wear that again soon)
- Skirt - Mister Leonard, vintage 80s, thrifted; last worn here in August 2016 with birds and plastic shoes
- Shoes - Fly London; last seen here in February with green and grape
I wanted to wear this lovely jacket again - I like all the reds, greens and yellows in it. I wish it had pockets but they can't all be winners.
I adore this skirt - I bought it years ago for only $8.50. However, due to the nature of my job, it has all kinds of marks down the front of it. I've laid it out and sprayed it with Folex stain remover, and...I plan to wash it! I'll be hand-washing it, very carefully, with some shampoo (it's wool, i.e. hair, so I figure shampoo will be gentle). I'm willing to risk it - it's just not worth the $15+ to dry clean it, when I'm down to less than a dollar per wear. Wish me luck!
The stuff:
Love these shoes. My dear bestie Caro has the same ones.
Black bling:
I wore double necklaces today. I liked how all the black "stones" went together.
- "Pocketwatch" necklace - Fossil, thrifted
- Black 5-stone necklace - EllandEm, thrifted
- Earrings - thrifted (first wearing)
Good luck with the wool skirt! It's motivation for me to wash a few hand wash only pieces that I stupidly wore around the boys and that of course got dirty.
ReplyDeleteYou probably don't have the brand in Canada, there's an aussie one I use as it's got eucalyptus in it. I've used it in the past for wool items and it works well, so I'm hoping you get great results with your shampoo too!
Thanks, Mica! It came out great, so I'll be showing it off tonight. We have wool-cleaning products here too (Zero and Woolite are the ones I can remember), but shampoo works just as well, I've found.
DeleteThe jacket is fabulous - I love the colours and it goes so well with the yellow skirt.
ReplyDeleteYou should be fine washing the skirt by hand. I never take any notice of dry clean labels and only once have I regretted it!
Thank you, Veronica! I like it too - I don't have many pieces that were purchased retail, as they have to be REALLY special for me to pay full or even sale price! You know how that is, I'm sure - you get sticker shock!
DeleteIt came out great - I'll share pictures tonight. :)
That outfit is saaaaweeeet!! And your nails go so perfectly!'😉 And those shoes! Need I go on??
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the skirt! Stains be gone!
Aw, thanks, SP! Ha! Yes, the stains are gone! I will report on it tonight.
DeleteSoooo happy the skirt was cooperative during your washing! It's a beautiful piece and you look so fantastic in that color!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I was really pleased with how well it came out.
DeleteI so love those green shoes.
ReplyDeleteSame, I wish Fly made them in other colours!
DeleteGood luck with the skirt ! and for you, its never a regular day at work, you always look outstanding.
ReplyDeleteIt came out beautifully, FYI. No, I rarely slack off in the dressing up department. ;-P
DeleteHow very enterprising of you to set about your own dry cleaning. I think the manufacturers often put these dry clean labels in to protect themselves from complaints, which I suppose is fair enough. I'll have to try some shampoo myself for woollens. Clever you!
ReplyDeleteThese ankle strap shoes are divine, by the way x
Anna
Manufacturers DO do that! They always put a higher level of care than is often needed, so that customers don't ruin things by washing them carelessly.
DeleteThanks! I love these shoes.
