Secondhand and Also Local - Leia Jacket and Morena Skirt

Ah, this week is so much better. I'm actually out of work on time, and able to take a deep breath. Of course, tonight is my WW meeting night, so in a few minutes it's off to catch the bus - home at 8pm. A long day.
I think my group will like this outfit. They like when I pull out the "cray-cray" (as the cool kids used to say, and now we dodgy old farts say, thinking we are cool). No fashion magazine is showing this wacky ensemble, but I like it. It's me.

Starting off with my fabulous Leia jacket, bought secondhand, and (as I discovered later), locally made by Bonspiel. I last wore it here in October 2013 with navy blue.
The skirt is a marvel and a wonder - I bought it on consignment as well. It's by local designer Morena, and I've seen the exact same one new in a local boutique for over $100. I last wore it here in January with caramel velvet.
The tights have a fun geometric square pattern going on, in tones of grey. My half-slip is just peeking out in a couple of pictures. It's a grey satin with light grey lace and it's a vintage Christian Dior - got that at the thrift store a few years ago!

The stuff:
I bought my shoes on deep discount at a local store (shop local!), but they are handmade in the US. They're by Cydwoq, which I first heard about probably in 2008 or 2009 from Audi over at Fashion for Nerds (sadly, she rarely posts anymore). I would buy more Cydwoqs, but I hate buying online. I want to see, touch, feel and try on! My local shop doesn't carry them anymore.

Some badass bling today, including my zipper rose.
Vizzini tried to maw on it when I picked him up.

Big bold bling:
Everyone needs a grommet belt.

Jacket (Leia Jacket, Bonspiel, consignment), skirt (Morena, consignment), slip (vintage Christian Dior, thrifted), shoes (Cydwoq), belt (gift from Ruth), earrings (Joyce's, vintage 80s), lapis lazuli ring/Fulvia Ring (Wendy Brandes), pin (Victoria & Albert Museum Gift Shop).

  1. Great look, and very "you". Love those shoes! and the zipper rose and the grommet belt. And thanks for your comment on my post about when you feel beautiful. I agree, red, red lipstick is a sure trick. xox

  2. Great outfit! I am not a wearer of jackets but I am an admirer of them and that one is so stylish! I LOVE the zipper rose. I agree with you about shopping online. I need to feel, see touch and try on! I hate the hassle of returning something that doesn't fit or isn't what I thought it would be. It was bad enough when I used to do that with the Sears catalog. Even with brands I know I can wear different sizes. Oh I love the lapis ring too! I always fall for lapis lazuli.

  3. Yup, me too, I'm a tactile gal. Not to mention I dislike being slapped sometimes with a $50 brokerage fee(!) when sometimes arrives from out of country. You look great in this! It is you. That's why you're nominated for style awards.
