Dotty Wednesday, Barnyard Thursday, and the Happy Wanderer

Hey, miss me? I went out after work on Wednesday night, and by the time I got home, I was just bagged, so today's post is a two-fer!

First up: dots!
This is a gorgeous 100% silk wrap dress from Banana Republic - of course, I didn't buy it there! I bought it in January 2012 in a thrift store - it was marked at $24.95 and I bought it and two other dresses on a "buy 2 get 1 free" thingy.
Cat, Elaine and I went to see the vintage Hitchcock movie, "To Catch a Thief" with Cary Grant and Grace Kelly - it was awesome to see it on the big screen. I felt very appropriately dressed. What a fun time.

Yeah, I know. Gorgeous dress! I've done it with lots of different colour accents - this is my first time doing blue. I have a blue vintage slip on underneath it - you can just see it peeking out at the hem, and a teeny bit of blue lace at the cleavage.
The dots on it are brown, and I like that they are not regularly circular or spaced. I last wore this in the September 2012 capsule (recap here), where I wore it three times.

The stuff:
My awesome Ralph Lauren pumps, also thrifted a while back, and which I wore last with a multitude of colours back here in May.

Bling things:
On my way down to the waterfront pub on the weekend, a store that sells beads and stones had a sidewalk clearance table - just try to pull me away from one of those. I got the blue glass bead earrings (on sterling wires) for only $7.50. Nice. And if I'm going to do any hint of blue, you know I'll be busting out my Wendy Brandes rings!

Oops, forgot to take my necklace off!
Dress (Banana Republic, thrifted), slip (French Maid, thrifted), shoes (Ralph Lauren, thrifted), earrings (local), lapis lazuli ring and Fulves ring (Wendy Brandes), pendant (gift from L).

Today, I kind of pulled out the crazyass, because it's fun to do that sometimes. Why not? Life is short!
This is my J. Peterman blouse, last worn here in May when Cat and Elaine and I went to the vintage fair.
My corduroy double-breasted vest cinches everything in and keeps my blouse from exposing everything (it's very see-through). I last wore it in the March 2012 capsule (recap here), where I wore it 3 times. I'm kind of shocked that it's been so long!
The skirt is my fabulous 100% silk barnyard number, last seen in the October 2012 capsule (recap here, voted Favourite Capsule, by the way, of the entire year-long challenge). I wore it 4 times then. It was nice to wear it in cooler weather, although due to it being really thin, I did wear a vintage half-slip under it.

The stuff:
I love these shoes - they are so comfy! I last wore them here in May, with the slanted-buttoned jacket that I ended up getting rid of.

Blurry bling:
Girlfriend ring, chandelier earrings and my crocheted, beaded rose.

Vest (RW & Co., consignment), blouse (J. Peterman, thrifted), skirt (Gap, thrifted), rose pin (vintage fair), earrings (Plum), ring (consignment).

I must have had a premonition or something when I put today's outfit together, because a package arrived in the mail today from the fabulous Tamera, the Menopausal Supermodel, that contained a skirt that matched my outfit so well, it's like I planned it.
Got my hair cut after work today
Okay, take a good look. It's make of a thin 100% new wool, it's lined, and yes, it has alpine scenes on it, including:

  • A man with a gun (this caused a lot of fun at work)
  • A woman with a walking cane
  • A log cabin
  • People canoeing in an alpine lake
  • Sheep

It is insane! It also has pockets and a slit at each ankle. Doesn't it go well with my outfit? Even right down to the little pops of red!

Anyway, it reminds me of that old song, "The Happy Wanderer" - do you know it? Here's a YouTube version from "The Muppet Show" to refresh your memory.

Tamera was so generous:
Note climbing alpine man with red socks
She made this lovely flapper-themed card and this colourful Frida Kahlo necklace. Thank you, Tamera! I love it all!

Blurry shot of the labels and a metal tag.
I think the metal tag fell off at some point and someone sewed it back on - because it's upside-down and you can see the stitches on the other side of the lining - not at all the same as the rest of the skirt. Tamera mentioned that she thrifted this for only $3.00! Crazy!

Have a great night, everyone! I'm off to go sailing after work tomorrow night (I'll take my camera!), so I'll be back on the weekend.
