Ho! I'm home early(ish) from work today, having finished my dratted newsletter! And it's Fourth of July - so happy that to my USA friends!
I went for colour today - bam! I am seriously in love with this skirt, last seen here, while I was being all Mr. T-like.A workhorse item in my wardrobe is anything that lasts more than 3-4 years. I'm fickle that way. For example, this blouse, which I've had for at least 3 years, and I last wore here in March with a plaid corset. It's easy to wash, it's a good saturated colour and I like the ruffles. I have a black cami on under it today.
This skirt is vocal - it swooshes and rustles like crazy!
The stuff:
I adore these Pearl Hart Bellevilles - I last wore them here in April with a zebra skirt in my Super Secret Purple Shoe Week.
Bling things:
I just adore my obi collection. This one is black leather (really thick, so nice) and it was under $20 on consignment (that's a steal in my book!). Pretty cuff and of course, my Wendy Brandes rings.
Almost Friday - wee!
Blouse (Esprit, consignment), skirt (Roland Kerry, vintage 80s, consignment), shoes (Pearl Hart Bellevilles, Fluevog), obi (consignment), cuff (St. Paul's Cathedral gift shop), earrings (the Cobbler), lapis lazuli ring/Fulvia Ring (Wendy Brandes).
Three to four years? I looked down at the pants I was wearing today and couldn't remember when I bought them. They weren't all that new when I remember wearing them at my second student teaching placement... 6 years ago. Of course, when I do donate clothes, it's like giving away my first born, so maybe you're onto something!
ReplyDeleteI love that skirt! It's very similar to your plaid dress, right, which I also covet. This looks great with those shoes.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the sentiments for your unruly neighbors to the south! I'd like to get to sleep soon, but there's still a lot of noisy, banging celebrating going on out there! It'll be very smoky in the morning and hangovers all around!
Love the colours in this outfit! :) The shirt is so beautiful with the skirt.
ReplyDeleteI like that you keep items in your wardrobe for so long because you wear them often and don't want to get rid of them. I'm ashamed by how many items I have in my wardrobe that are older than 3 or 4 years and that I probably haven't worn for 3 or 4 years!!! I need to be more ruthless when I do clear outs.
perfect :-)
ReplyDeleteI love your blog, Would you like following each other by gmail?

I'm sorry, I don't do gmail - I'm low-tech. Thank you for reading - I will come visit!
DeleteThis skirt is the best! It looks great here and before, and way into the future. Love the purple shoes too.
ReplyDeleteYour plaid skirt brings back good memories of childhood. I loved to wear plaid dresses and Mary Janes. I have lots of workhorse clothes - they are the mainstays of my closet :) I kind of think of them as friends :P
ReplyDeleteYay plaid!! I always love seeing plaid! I can tell even from the picture it is that kind of fabric that would make noise when you walk though!
ReplyDeleteFOr some reason I relate obi belts with you - I was at the MNG store a few days back and saw a bunch of colorful leather obis and just thought "OH, i know who'd love these..."
ReplyDeleteI have been catching up! what lovely colorful outfits you are wearing these days!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes your Obi collection is awesome
Have a great weekend
Ariane
Love those shoes so much! I do miss my pair. They were always a little tight in the strap though.
ReplyDeleteHah! I wish I had owned anything for 3-4 years. Almost all of my clothes are new to me within the past year or two. Then again, you and I have both been through weight changes! That definitely changes a wardrobe.
Ah, I think 3-4 years is about right for my workhorses too. I don't regret any older outfits, but I definitely keep changing styles and silhouettes, they all get worn out or passed on!
ReplyDeleteThs outfit is going to be one of my Sheila Top 10's. The colour mix, the swooshy skirt.. Just perfect.
Such pretty colors!
ReplyDeleteWonderful skirt. I have dreams of visiting your closet. :)
