Last Chance for Greyhounds, Leather Pants, a Goodbye and a Tease

Friday, my friend, it's so good to see you!
What? You don't wear leather pants to work?
I have culled my closet to the point where I actually only have 2 pairs of dressy pants in my closet (I still have a couple pairs of jeans and some stuff in summer storage), and these Gap vintage leather jeans are one of them. If you're not familiar with my leather pants, please check out their mysterious past here. If you are familiar with them, then you'll recall that I wore them three times in the April 2012 capsule (recap here).

The jacket was worn four times in the December 2012 capsule (recap here). I love the strong shoulder and the brocade and the wonderful shape of the waist, and I like how it played off the texture of the pants.
This is the third wear for voting of the Smoking Lily greyhound tee (previously worn here and here). I'll be posting the verdict on it tomorrow.

I want to thank everyone for their thoughts on the Smoking Lily dress yesterday. I like hearing what people think (it's a Libra thing) - it helps me look at different perspectives and fully understand the fit and style of my clothes, which is a good thing. I am really having fun with this 3-times challenge!

Back view:
Yeah, love the jacket and love the pants. No vote for you!
The shoes are my purple combat boots, which I wore four times in the January capsule (recap here). I had to do some creative lacing on the left one because "someone" ate a chunk of the laces.

Sadly, however, today we say goodbye to the boots. They are cheapo vinyl Winners boots that cost very little, and today I noticed that piece of the vinyl has come apart, and there's a spot rubbed off on the back of the heel. I will donate these and keep my eyes peeled for something better quality.

The stuff:
My fabulous Pringle of Scotland belt (last worn here, and thrifted in a bundle here) and a bunch of steampunk-y stuff.

Jacket (Le Chateau, consignment), tee (Smoking Lily), pants (Gap, thrifted, vintage), boots (Penny Loves Kenny), belt (Pringle of Scotland, thrifted), necklace (Raven's Rest Studio), brown cuff (SkinzNHydeZ), black cuff (Guess, thrifted), zipper rose (Victoria & Albert Museum Gift Shop).

And the tease, you ask?
I got new glasses! L and I will be debuting them tonight at an art installation opening.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

  1. Great leather pants! I like the tee, it's fun and unique, and I think you'll find that color "plays well with others." Dynamite glasses! those are really cool.

  2. *drools in a noncreepy way* Those pants! I love the purple and burgundy shades together.

I've been culling my closet to minimalistic proportions. It feels good to free up the space and I'm realizing how rarely a lot of it got worn. I'm only keeping stuff that's comfortable.

Sorry about the boots! At least they were cute for a little while.

Cannot wait to see the glasses on you!!

  4. Oooh, I love your new glasses! The color combination is delicious!! And I for one love a great graphic/artistic tee so you should definitely keep this one. Good color too.

  5. Love the pants; very stylish. My leather pants are motorcycle gear and weigh about 300 lbs. so walking in them in a struggle.

  6. Still loving that tee. I like how you've managed to wear it differently each time, I tend to go for a straight tee and jeans combo although I'm trying to branch out more!

Shame about the boots, hopefully you find a great pair to replace them :) Lovely new glasses too!

  7. Leather jeans = fantastic! I love that whole look with the ladylike jacket too. And your new glasses are amazing.

  8. All the items (except the boots of course) are keepers, imo. It's a fantastic look for you.

I like the greyhound tee because the fit is very nice on you, the neckline is not too low, and the color combination is rare and flattering. I can't imagine why you would get rid of it; even if it is a cheap fabric (which it doesn't appear to be), you can at least wear it enough times before it falls apart. That's my .02!

  9. Those colors look great on you. Recently, I've been attracted to the pinky - mauve color family and pairing them with burgundy, as you've done here. The cream jacket is a lovely accent.

I love this challenge you've come up with (Patti pointed it out in a post). So clever -- and the crowd sourcing of yes/no is SO FUN!

  12. Yeah, great belt, and the glasses!! I'm getting new ones, too, hopefully next week. I'm so excited!

I love that outfit - it's kind of a swaggering and impeccably dressed style (except for the boots, which I'm sure you can replace with something even better). Makes me think of Adam Ant without the ruffles. Now I need to go back and read the mysterious pants story.
