Casual Friday - Low Heels Week - Boots Edition

Of course, I wore low boots today! It's casual day!

I actually was stumped for my outfit today. Usually, I decide on one thing I want to wear (in this case, the boots), then I mentally go through my wardrobe and put together outfits while I'm lying in bed at night waiting to fall asleep. Last night I had some wine and I didn't do my typical planning.
It resulted in me missing my bus this morning. Anyway, I tucked my skinniest jeans into the boots today - the jeans are tightly wound around my lower calf with a sock over top of them to keep them in place. Very attractive.

I actually don't like these jeans - they give me an evil case of Muffin Top. Bad jeans! Bad! Bad!
Gah, I look poochy there. Good thing I had the jacket on all day to cover up my plumber's butt, haha!

Oh, and click here for a close-up of the heel on the boots. They are a 1 3/4" heel, a modified wedge. That's my favourite height for a casual boot.

Happy Weekend!

Jacket (Gap, consignment), shirt (Nicole Benoit for Point Zero), jeans (Esprit), boots (Miz Mooz), belt (Plum), wood bead necklace (90s), gold hoop earrings (gift from L).

  1. Great low-heeled boots! I don't think that you look poochy at all - the jeans look awesome from my view - but if you don't love the jeans, maybe it's time to look for another pair that works better.

  2. I'm still trying to figure out the sock rolled around the jeans part! The overall look is great (if you hadn't pointed out the details, I would never have noticed them).

I DO like the boots, too - but do I sense a bit of relief that the low heel week is over?

Now I'm thinking that even for me - it's not the height of the heel but the great styles of the shoes that add pizazz! A look at my shoe wardrobe tell me I need something in addition to the plain, basic styles. Maybe a week on that sometime?????

I can't even figure out how gals get INTO some of those shoes! But they really "make" the outfit...

  3. I have pair of low wedge boots that I love. They're great to walk in, aren't they? I must say that I am only only seeing flattering things about the jeans, but if they give you muffin top and you hate them, maybe it's time to replace them with a pair you love? Not that that's always an easy thing to do. :)

  4. I hate jeans that create the killer muffin. I have a great pair of skinny jeans that do that. I try to combat it by not buttoning the top button and wearing a thick belt. Not ideal, but if the jeans were the next size up they'd just fall down. I hate that. Your jacket does a great job hiding it all and you look great. Great boots too!

  5. Love the boots, covet the jacket -- that color looks great with your hair :)

  6. I see you went nearly flat for the end of your low heels week! I love a flat-ish boot. Do you know I've NEVER tried to tuck jeans into boots? Maybe I should. I always thought I was too short.

Anyway, I think the blazer is awesome. I hate those days when you can't get it together in the morning--kind of sets the tone for the day. At least for me. Ah well, no one could divine your sartorial dilemma from looking at you, I'm sure!

  7. Aw, thanks, Kari. It was just one of those weeks. I've been keeping my eye out for some skinny jeans that aren't so low-waisted.

Rebecca, you wrap the bottom of your jeans around your ankle, then pull the socks over them. No, I enjoyed the low heel week, but it did make me realize how very few low heel options there are! It's definitely the styles, rather than the heels, I think. Ooh, I like your idea of doing a basic shoe wardrobe post. I will think on that.

I do love wedge boots - they rule. Aw, thank you - the darned jeans drove me nuts all day. No, I hate jean shopping!

Alison, hear hear! I have so much trouble getting the waist and the thighs right. Thank you so much!

    Thanks, Kayleigh!

Julia, you should try it! You're so waifish you could totally pull it off. I bet I am shorter than you, anyway. Thanks! It was a great thrift find (and cheap). You're too kind, thank you.
