As I mentioned yesterday, I had a Toastmasters competition today. I was rather nervous, but L had a good thought.
If I win - great! I move on to the next level of competition (district). If I lose - great! I'm all done competing.
So, guess what?
I won!
I credit this to my casual yet crisp style - this obviously greatly impressed the judges. Of course, it could also have been that when I got my topic ("You've won the lottery!"), I ran up to the stage, jumped up on it and screamed, "I won the lottery!"
Heh, 'cause I'm a bit of an attention junkie that way.
Blouse (Nicole Beniste for Point Zero), vest (Le Chateau, gift from Ruth), jacket (I.N.C, consignment), jeans (Seven7, gift from Caro), shoes (Rinaldi), gold hoop earrings.

Congratulations, Sheila! Good luck at the next round of competition.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I am a total ham (guess thats why I am a teacher) I would have loved to see you win.
ReplyDeleteSheila - I've been so self-involved that I haven't commented on any of your blog entries for ages! But I have been reading them with interest. I particularly liked your great one on You & Food, which I found v. interesting. It's always the little details that capture our attention & make it memorable. Congrats on your success with Toastmasters!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kari!
ReplyDeleteHeh, me too, Lesa - I am really indulging my inner ham.
Aw, Sue, no worries! Thank you so much for the kind words.
Congrats on the win.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations - you were on a roll this week.
ReplyDeleteSo what would you spend the lottery winnings on? Or is that s tupid question?
awesome job Sheila! Congrats on your win. Not only with the contest but with your outfit...have been to several consignment shops, and think of you each time and what a blast you would have..especially in Thomasville, Georgia which is quite well off, hence the consignment stuff is spectacular...and the prices are amazing...so low and consistent. Take care....B
ReplyDeleteCongratulations :D
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tina!
ReplyDeleteJane, totally - maybe I should have bought a lottery ticket? :-P If I won the lottery, I would give 10% to my friends and relatives in $10,000 amounts. I would donate 10% to the hospital that looked after my dad when he was dying. Then I would buy a spectacular condo and while it was being custom renovated, I would travel all over. Then I would come home, live in my wonderful house, and throw a huge party where I would give all my friends and family their money.
Thanks so much, Bonnie! Great to hear from you! Ah, that sounds divine - L and I are going to Seattle this week and I am excited to check out some consignment shops there.
Hey Congradulations!!
ReplyDeleteLove L's take on the competition too. Sometimes it's worth remembering nothing drastic will happen if we don't win.
So happy you won, Sheila! Congrats, and good luck further on next level!

Thanks, Tat!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Northmoon! Yes, it was a good grounding comment. The only pressure is that which I put on myself.
Thanks, Lyn! The next level is in a couple of weeks.
Woohoo, congrats! I am sure it was well-earned.
ReplyDeleteLove that green patterned top on you! It's subtle and striking at the same time.
confused... what's a toastmaster?
ReplyDeleteI know I'll sound like a complete dummy! and I'll kick myself when I find out!
Congrats though!! x
So professional, I love this outfit!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kristen! Yes, this is one of my favourite shirts.
ReplyDeleteShopaholic, sorry for not explaining. Toastmasters is an international organization aimed at helping people become more proficient at public speaking. Google it - I bet there's a group near where you live.
Thanks, FA!
