Edelwiess, Cruise Shoes and My Bathing Suit

A couple of things:

1. Tina from T Minus, T Plus (love her!) suggested that when I get something new that I show what I got rid of, following my "one in, one out" rule. I love this idea! As it's too late for some of my stuff - it's long gone to consignment, charity or friends - I will start anew.

I'm going to a big swap event in a few weeks, so I've taken pictures of the 15 items I'm getting rid of from my closet. I have to take them in early, so they are leaving my house in the next couple of days. When I get my new 15 items at the swap, I'll post pictures of the stuff I gave up and the new things. In fact, whenever I buy new clothes, I'll post the "in" and "out" together if I can.

I say "if I can" because I actually have credits in a few categories (I keep a tally of ins/outs and I've been very enthusiastic about weeding out stuff I don't love), so that when I shop, I know what I need in my closet. I need skirts, jackets, pants, tops and sweaters, and dresses. Wee! I think I should go shopping!

2. Okay, okay, you asked...here's the bathing suit - NO, I will not post a picture of me in it.
The pattern is totally distracting, it has a tummy panel and the ruching down the centre makes my waist look tiny. It makes my thighs look massive, but you know what? I have strong thighs that did a marathon, and do aikido, and walk miles and miles...I LIKE my big thighs. The brand is It Figures!

All right, down to business. I always look forward to summertime so I can pull out my "cruise shoes". When I was planning this last night, I sort of ended up with a theme again (I like themes): wearing some piece of jewelry that I have never worn (either at all, or on the blog). Hee, Inigo's coming in for a rub on my ankles.

As per my usual Monday morning lack of creativity, I went with brown and turquoise, with the brown dress worn with a teal cami, then the textured jacket to pull in the lighter colour in the shoes.

It was breezy out this morning, so I wore a wrap over it all:
Man, I look miserable in the mornings. Ha! Mom bought me this glorious turquoise/brown pashmina in Italy a couple of years ago.

My groovy woven bag:
Another "summer only" item.

The stuff:
Oh, how I love those shoes. They are one of the only pairs of department store shoes that I've ever paid regular price for (well, they were an extra 30% off, so not quite full price).

The pouf of white there is this brooch:

It's silver and feathers, and yes, that is an eidelweiss flower! Mom and Dad bought it for me in Switzerland (Davos?) many years ago. I have never worn it.

Shout out to my mom, who called me yesterday and gently teased me about all of "her" jewelry she's seeing for the first time in years. I'm sure I told her whenever I borrowed stuff...um, and I still have it.

Jacket (Final Touch, thrifted), dress (Suzy Shier, consignment), cami (RW & Co.), shoes (Franco Sarto), belt (The Bay), bag (Nine West), wrap (Italy, gift from Mom), brooch (Swiss, gift from Mom and Dad), crystal stud earrings.

  3. What fun! I wish I had friends who were my size & similar style aesthetic to swap with.

Inigo looks like a sweet kitty. He isn't named after the character in The Princess Bride, is he? (Forgive me... it's my favorite movie, I have to ask.)

  4. I love the swimsuit - I have large thighs too and up until quite recently I hated them but I have grown to love them.
They have taken me through two marathons, several half-marathons and four pregnancies.
    What's not to love?

  7. The swimsuit is just lovely, and I am SO GLAD to hear of your thigh pride! With all the working out you do, you'd BETTER not have stringbean thighs, lady. ;)

    Aw, thank you, Mervat!

Kari, it's actually a big organized swap put on by a local charity organization. I'm excited!

Yes, you totally guessed it - Inigo is named after the character from The Princess Bride (L's and my favourite movie too!). He typified the adventurous spirit of Inigo Montoya - and he is the sweetest kitty in the world.

Thanks, Jane! Good for you! We have to make the best with what we've got, right?

    Beth, thank you so much.

Sher, I will - she loves when people comment on it. Ha!
