Flowers and Denim on a Weekday (Oh, and A Butt Shot)

Today, there were glimpses of sun, and not just on my lapel:

I do like to make my own sunshine. And as you can see from the glare on my picture, it's actually light outside! Will wonders never cease?

This jacket is new-to-me: it's another Smoking Lily item (I adore their clothing - here's a post with links to my Smoking Lily items). It was $26.95 in a consignment store and you can bet I snatched it up! It's a stretchy denim with aqua denim piping all around the edges, and aqua on the cuff linings:

The skirt is my mystery skirt - I thrifted it in Seattle a few years ago. It doesn't have a label, just a little tag with a leaf on it. I love the heathery green tweed of it and the embroidered flowers on the bottom.

I'm wearing a red top underneath to tie in with the red in the flowers. My second day with no neutrals! Colours are the new neutral!

I would love to show when I last wore these, but it's nearly impossible to search on a brand called "Me Too". Actually, I think I remember when I wore them last...yup, here. Hmmm...I need to wear that skirt again.

Weekend Outfit - WW Meeting

Went to my regular WW meeting for the first time in a couple of weeks. As always, I wore something nice and lightweight:
My new-ish teal cardi (last seen here, ha, with the same tights), my bright orange corduroy skirt (last seen here, scroll down - I am wearing that same necklace today, too), and flat shoes for walking.

I also wore my chartreuse jacket (last seen here) because it went so well with my new purse.

I also had long brown leather gloves on for the morning.

Well, my exciting news for this weekend was going to be that we got a new kitten companion for Inigo, but it was not meant to be: no kittens at the SPCA for another month. I'm disappointed, but we'll go next month and get a new family member.

Tuesday WW Group - Teal and Purple (and Some Pictures of Inigo)

Apparently my Fluevogs caused quite a stir last week! I had many comments on them today, so I have promised to wear a different pair of shoes every week to my Tuesday Weight Watchers Group. Good thing I have the blog to refer to!

I pulled together today's outfit from some of my new Plum purchases:
Yes, I know the tights are more blue than teal, but whatever, I think they go just fine. The cardigan is new - it was 50% off, so $24. It's a nice cotton and spandex blend, so washable (yay!). It's the same brand and similar cut to this green cardi (warning, picture-heavy post) I picked up second hand last year.

The cardigan is a nice basic in a good colour, but my love is for the skirt - it's got pockets!

Plus, it's purple, it's brocade, it's designed and made in Canada - and it was $25, regular $85. Sweet!

It's the same purple as the skirt, also from Plum, and was $4 (and it's leather).

Because I was wearing a black cami under the cardi, I was going to go with all black or all-silver jewelry, but when I started poking around in my jewelry box, I found this fabulous silver bracelet that L gave me (again, for my birthday, I think):

I quite liked the pops of red in it and the ring. You can also see the 3 black sparkly buttons on the skirt - they're roses! What a cool detail. I love stuff like that.

I changed out of my "good" clothes when I got home, and into my "house" clothes. I got this long-sleeved grey tee yesterday in a thrift store for $7.50. I put the cami I had on with the work outfit over top of it, and tossed on my black jeans. I was laughing at Inigo. See why?

Weekend Stuff and Keeping Busy

Whew! I finally feel like I'm a bit caught up on everyone's blogs (if I missed commenting on yours, let me know) that I read regularly. Life has been rather hectic lately, but hey, I've gotta live it, you know?

Friday night, we had dinner at Sherylyn's (she of Yummyland fame), and holy moly, she is an amazing cook! We had feta dip with cucumber and pita to start, roasted chicken breasts stuffed with olives, feta and sun-dried tomatoes, lemon potato wedges and tabouli salad for dinner, and peach crumble with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert. Dee-lish!

The Dan Mangan concert was incredible. It was in a converted church, where we sat in pews. The sound was so amazing, and everyone sang along. We didn't get home until nearly midnight, so it's a miracle I was able to look this awake on Saturday morning:
I knew I was going to be doing the Celebrations portion of the Weight Watchers meeting as part of my mentoring as leader, but I didn't realize the leader was going to have me open and run the first part of the meeting. Hello! Not prepared!

Thank goodness the outfit distracted from the panicked look on my face (I hope!). I soldiered through with aplomb!

I was busy for most of yesterday putting up my Christmas tree. As I have mentioned in the past, I used to work in a year-round Christmas store. I did that for 11 years at the end of the 80s and through the 90s, and I amassed an amazing collection of Christmas ornaments. I usually only put my tree up every other year, though (we do Festivus on alternate years, hee hee), as it feels too much like work, even now, to put up both trees (I do two) and garland, and village, AND nutcrackers (oh yes, I have it all). It's a lot of work and it takes days.

So, when I took my trees down two years ago, I packed up my theme ornaments for the small tree together with the coloured matching ornaments off the big tree, so that this year I could do just one tree. I'll do a few posts of my tree (and my village, which is freaking awesome) closer to Christmas, but consider this a teaser:

An Unexpected Reprieve

Would you believe...?

After I spent the morning trying not to audibly sniffle at my desk as I drafted goodbye emails to send tomorrow to my coworkers and colleagues, and to my outside customers/vendors (I Bcc them all, of course, good etiquette)...

After I sent out an email to all my close friends telling them to delete my email...

After I went for my last lunchtime walk, and saw harbour seals, and it rained and I did my last set of stairs...

After I transferred all my files to my supervisor and informed my "in progress" clients whom to deal with...
My boss arrives, calls me into the office and asks me to stay another month.

Seriously, that messes with my mind! I was so psychologically ready, you know? I'm not complaining at all - and yes, I said yes! it's good money! - but jeez, that messes with my mind.

At least I looked good for it:
You can't see the teal cami peeking out at the top and through the buttons of the cardi, but it's there. I wore the yellow cardi (last seen here) to cheer myself up (it's my happy colour), my workhorse tweed skirt, and my groovy new teal tights:

Hee, leg on table. They are more teal than that - they look blue there.

Gosh, that yellow is such a glorious marigold colour. I swear this picture wasn't blurry when I saw it on the camera (I blame the computer).

I am such a detail person. I love intricate detail and attention to the smallest things. See all the peace signs on the bracelet?

Skirt Creep - Zebra and New Shoes

This will be the last wear of this skirt for the season. I wore it with micro-fishnets today and had awful skirt creep all day. Most annoying.

I did like the outfit, though, and L gave this one an enthusiastic thumbs up:

I actually had a few issues with the hip region with this outfit. The skirt has pockets and pleats, and the cardi has pockets, so I had a lot of...blousing...going on there.

I was more excited about spending my birthday money this weekend...
...on my new shoes! I spotted these a couple of weeks ago and pined after them, but they were too pricey for me (funny how you get spoiled by $6 to $40 shoes when you shop consignment!). When I was scoping around the mall I saw that they had been marked down to $75.00, so that was that.

Well, hello there, classic hidden platform, super-comfy teal shoes. Aren't you a lovely soft suede? I think you're going to like living in my closet.

I wasn't familiar with this brand (Me Too), but these were amazingly soft and squishy inside. The sizing ran really big, so I bought an 8.5 instead of my usual 9-9.5/40.

Simple and Comfy

Seeing as it's one of those weeks, I aimed for comfort today: dress and shoes, with a few accessories:
I swear there were shoes there a second ago! Inigo, you darned ham.

I love this stretchy dress. It's washable, flattering and easy. I've had it for a couple of years.

Okay, here's the shoes:

I think I've only worn these once since I got them (yup, ooh, not since March! Shameful!). Inigo just flopped right down as soon as he'd blocked one shot, little devil.

The stuff:

I was happy that nothing was overly matchy.The shoes are brown, forest green and grey, the bracelet is jade green, the cami is actually a teal, and the brooch is brown, orange and teal (with a big of emerald green and blue in there). And of course, all the good gold stuff.

Try, Try Again...and Video!

So this is the thin jacket that I meant to wear last week here (and left at home):
I felt like it got short shrift, so I put together this outfit so it wouldn't feel bad. Ha, like it cares! Ungrateful jacket!

Anyway, I thought this outfit picked out the colours in the skirt well. Last time I wore this, I went with the emerald green (here).

The stuff:
I kept the accessories pretty simple because of all the colour. Maybe a necklace.

Oh, and although I could not get Inigo to mew on cue for Wendy, I did manage to shoot a wee bit of video. Enjoy!

A Baker's Dozen and Some Marigold

I went shopping again this weekend - mostly thrift and consignment (I really do prefer it, I find such better things!), so I'll be featuring all my new stuff over the next couple of weeks. That's one of my favourite things about new clothes...ooh! What will I wear with this?

Today, it's this gorgeous 100% cashmere cardigan:
And the shoes, and a ring. I absolutely adore this rich shade of marigold - it has too much orange in it to be a mustard.

It's so hard to find cashmere cardis that aren't grandma-styles. This was $26.95 in a consignment store. I checked this brand out online (they don't have a website) and they sell from about $70+ new. Wow. I don't think this one has been worn much at all.

I loved how this went with the teal embroidered skirt - all the shades of brown and turquoise worked well with the yellow, I thought.

I got a grab bag of jewelry for $10 in the same consignment store - some of the stuff was crap, but some of it is really nice. The blue ring is one of the nice items:

These are the new shoes:

They are a bit scuffed, but otherwise in pretty new condition. I like the grey/blue, dark green and brown mix with the gold trim and the brass studs. And check out the striped leather on the heel!

These were $24.00 in another consignment store.

The "baker's dozen" is how many years L and I have been married as of today! Wow, I can't believe it's been that long....haven't killed each other yet, haha!
