If I look flustered, it's because I just spent two hours shopping for a bathing suit. I have not owned a bathing suit in over 20 years (body issues...oh, where was
Sal back then?). However, I did find a lovely black and white retro one-piece (no, I'm not posting a picture of it), and it wasn't quite as traumatic as I'd envisioned...although being confronted with one's jiggly bits in the garish light of a fitting room is sufficient to drive me to full-body coverage for a few days.
Onward:

I really wanted to showcase the new-to-me shoes (which were barely worn, and I recall seeing in
Towne Shoes last fall) that I got a couple of weeks ago.
Although Ruth disapproved of my tweed in summer, I like the orange skirt and it was neither too hot nor too cold.
The stuff:

Love the shoes! The second-hand store also had exactly the same pair in pink trimmed with fuscia, but I'm so not a fan of pink. They were around $20. The necklace and earrings were Christmas gifts from L.
Cardigan (no label, consignment), blouse (French Connection, consignment), skirt (no label, consignment), shoes (David Dixon, consignment), necklace & earrings (Lucky Brand, gift from L).
I love the skirt! The flippy little pleats are marvelous. And your pose...well, it's marvy too.
ReplyDeleteOh, doll, I wish I could've been there for you back in the day! Still, glad to hear you found a suit you love and that you aren't too scarred from the experience.
ReplyDeletethose are about the HOTTEST shoes i have seen all month. i love them!!
ReplyDeletelove the pose! and i'm sure you look fab in your new bathing suit. I just wore my first 2-piece bathing suit...ever.. so yay us!! So daring!! lol
ReplyDeleteYoour pose today really put a smile on my face! I'm glad you found a swimsuit that you like.
ReplyDeleteYour new-to-you shoes got me thinking about your goal "one in, one out" for your wardrobe. I for one, would be fascinated to see what you are diving up when you add new items. Any chance of showing us a few of your swap outs?
Thanks, sallymandy!
ReplyDeleteSal, you would have been a godsend to me 10-15 years ago...of course, you might have been a littly young.
Eednic, thanks!
Diane, thank you! Wow, good for you! I tried on some 2-pieces...they were best left alone.
Tina, aw, thank you. I think that is a fabulous idea - from now on, I will show what I'm getting rid of when I buy new items. Most of the "outs" are long gone (consigned or swapped).
Oh my goodness, you do dramatic so well! I adore the pose and the outfit shows off your lovely figure :)
ReplyDeleteBrave girl, bathing suit shopping...I'd be more than a little faint myself, lol.
Ha, thanks, Kayleigh! I felt very brave...but it was a Friday night, and there was no one else around. I just told myself, "you can do this."
ReplyDeleteI love the skirt and shoes! The skirt is so flirty.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you have luck finding a bathing suit? I've been totally SOL so far and am probably going to just save up for a pricey suit next year since I can get by with my not-so-flattering suit, but there's always hope for finding one mid-season.
Thanks, Kari!
ReplyDeleteI went to the department store, The Bay. They had tons of suits - it was just a matter of looking for styles that would suit my body, and just trying them on. Mine ended up being $50+. Yowch.
I tried tankinis (barf) and I wear board shorts for sports, but neither style worked as a bathing suit. I'll put a shot of the suit in today's blog entry!
ReplyDeleteIt's a glorious rich yellow - I have lots of ideas for it.
