Black and White with Yellow

My office is full again; everyone's back from vacation, and there are work events going on in my city and in Vancouver this week. None of this is a surprise to me, but I had to plan around all these VPs and guests popping into the office.
Now is not the time to be Crazy Sheila! We had 6 new people start this morning as well, and since I gave them the tour of the office, I wanted to look approachable and not scary or intimidating (which I I can be to people who don't know me).

  • Sweater - Club Monaco, thrifted; purchased here for $17.95
  • Skirt - handmade, vintage, thrifted; last seen here in February 2018 with leopard
  • Shoes - Hispanitas; last worn here in December 2018 with my $1,000 sweater
  • Coat (below) - Denny Rose, consignment; last seen here in December 2018

Okay, my sweater does have "wings" on the shoulders, that's a bit wacky still. I can't go completely Professional Sheila or people will wonder what's wrong!
I loved, loved, loved this sweater - it was stretchy, comfy, breathed fine and looked good. I'm all kinds of happy with it.

The skirt is a little on the snug side. I probably shouldn't eat popcorn and chocolate for dinner too often...
It's good to get back into my regular routine again, that's for sure.

I know we were all squee-ing about how this could go with this dragon skirt, purchased the same day as the sweater, but they didn't get along when I tried them on together.
Too much coverage and black - it dragged me down. A slim pencil skirt in a bright colour? Much better! I'll be wearing the skirt later this week.

Outerwear - it's dry, grey and cold. This will do.
"I think you should stay home and cuddle with me."

I really wanted to!

  • Hat - vintage, thrifted in Vancouver
  • Fur scarf - Danier Leather, thrifted
  • Gloves - Parkhurst

He had to settle for a quick cuddle before I dashed off.
"What is this small creature you are wearing? It needs a bath."

Vizzini immediately spotted my fur scarf and tried to lick it to death.

The stuff:
Good shoes for running around in! They were much easier on my feet than heels.

Black and white bling:
The debut of this lovely cameo necklace that I got for Christmas from Mom. I love it!

  • Necklace - Westcoast Cameos, gift from Mom
  • Earrings - the Cobbler
  • Spider ring - gift from Mom & Dad, c. 1986
  • Silver ring - gift from Mom & Dad, c. 1987

  1. I love the white trimmed ruffles at the shoulders and at the hem of that black peplum top and the complementary contrast with the pretty yellow pencil skirt. I also like the red hat and colourful coat - it's a very lovely outfit!

  3. I really like that yellow skirt with the fun statement top! I would love more classic bright pencil skirts like this, I don't have anything similar, my plain ones are grey or black.

    1. They are handy to have in a few key colours, Mica. I think you would get a lot of wear out of a blue one.

  4. I keep imagining you giving a group of new people a tour of the office. Even if you're not totally "crazy Sheila" here, I'm sure that your yellow skirt, winged sweater, spotty shoes and cameo necklace are crazy enough for some people! Crazy in a positive way, of course ;-) I totally love this outfit, and I'll be on the lookout for a winged sweater now. Yours is so cute! xxx

  5. Reading this on a gray day in NY so seeing your cheery yellow skirt brings a smile. I like this outfit mucho for all the reasons you mention and would easily wear it myself.

You are very lucky to have reasons to get up and about at work. Aspects of my job have changed whereby most of my teaching is in the space where I am located. This means much less walking around for me and I am struggling with getting myself up and moving enough during wintry school days. Almost contemplating a Fitbit to remind me to move and track my paces...

    1. Aw, glad to hear that, Laurie, thank you! I love being able to move around a lot at work - I could not stand being tied to a chair all day.
