Flowers on a Dark Day

Today was a crappy day. I'm hormonal, and things just went wrong. I need dinner, wine and a couch, in that order.

Good thing I planned a bunch of flowers:
Audi's pink and green the other day reminded me of this obi, and that led to the jacket (which has been sitting in the closet for months since I bought it in the summer), and the skirt.

The problem with the jacket is that it's cut really high in front and really low in the back, with a big peplum. I should probably just throw it on over a dress or something, but I like a defined waist. The skirt happened to have nice back details with kick pleats as well:
Here's a couple of the flowers:
My lapel flower (inspired by Kari's) and my flower ring.

The stuff:
The grey shoes go with the barely visible grey cami and the silver in the silk-screening in the obi (which also has flowers on it).

A close-up of the ring/earrings:
I do love a bigass ring.

Jacket (La Classe Couture, thrifted), skirt (Precis Petite), obi (Smoking Lily, consignment), shoes (Ralph Lauren, consignment), ring (Guess), earrings (90s, don't remember), flower pin (Roberta's Hats).

  1. Hey, we both wore skirts with kicky pleating at the back today. I love yours! And of course, I love the floral pin too. I don't think Roberta's had those when I was there over the summer. What is yours made of? I like how the delicate and feathery texture echoes the fabric of the obi belt.

So sorry to hear it's been a rough day. I hope tomorrow & your weekend are more uplifting.

  8. Thanks, Kari! Weird how we synch up sometimes! No, my floral pin is several years old (it's just fabric) - but I was in Roberta's today and bought another pin (not the same as yours). Thanks so much - I'm happy it's the weekend now.

    Thanks, Jane! Woo hoo!

    Lorena, thank you!

    Thanks, Sal.

    Thanks, Audi!

Eh, it's okay, FA - and yes, at least I looked good. :) Thank you!

Aw, thanks, Tanya! I love the ring too.

  9. Sorry about the bum day. I hope that the wine and the couch made everything better before bedtime.

I love the green tweed of your skirt and contrasted with the pinks in your accessories, you just look divine. I'm a sucker for the cut of your jacket. Thanks to your description, I had to hit the dictionary to look up "peplum". I love learning new words.

  10. Aw, thanks, Tina! It did help.

I love the cut of the jacket too, although it is tricky to put with other pieces.
