Neon Pink Jammy Dress and Coat Vote

Friday is here! Time for a jammy dress.
I really did not feel like getting out of bed, much less getting dressed. I indulged in a bit of Colour Therapy to cheer myself up. It helped.

  • Dress - InWear; last seen here in September 2020 with black studs
  • Shoes - Gentle Souls; last worn here in January with black cashmere
  • Coat (below) - Lord & Taylor, thrifted; last seen here in October 2020

The colour of the dress is most accurate in the stair picture above. Neon doesn't photograph well.
I am demonstrating my pockets!
I did clip-curls this morning, but they completely disappeared by the time I got to work.
I ventured out of the office to run errands a couple of times during the day, and I'm sure I burned the retinas of a few people.
The dress is wider and swooshier than it may appear.

Masked and coated up.
I didn't feel the love on this coat when I put it on.

I've had it for 5 years, I think. I paid $19.95 for it and I'm sure I've worn it a hundred times, probably more.
Maybe it's time to let it go? Or maybe it's just not good with this dress in particular? Yay or nay, my friends? Back to the closet or to the giveaway pile? Vote on the coat!

The stuff:
I'm a sucker for a chunky shoe, especially one with a fun heel and an ankle strap.

  • Mask - by Mom

Shiny bling:
I built the outfit around the vintage beaded belt.

  • Belt - Henry Birks, vintage 80s, thrifted; first worn here in February 2020 in two slightly different outfits
  • Bangle - Alexis Bittar, consignment, Sidney
  • Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Silver/crystal ring - Soul Flower
  • Earrings - vintage fair

Wishing you all a calm, happy weekend!
"With lots of cuddles"

I think for once the cat is right. Happy weekend, and thanks for stopping by!

  1. Nooooo! Keep the coat! It just isn't a great match up with that particular dress. Both look great on their own or with other things.

Kitty cuddles are a great way to start the weekend! Hope you have a good one :)

    1. I agree that it doesn't go with the dress, and it's a really cool coat, but I may be done with it, Nana. I'm not deciding now, though.

      They are! Purr Therapy!

  2. You have better coats and jackets so I vote to let it go.

    1. I agree...it may be time for this to go. I'm feeling lately like my closet is due for a big overhaul. Thanks, Ianiza! So good to see you!

  3. Love that jacket just not with the neon jammy dress.

  4. The coat doesn't work with that particular dress. Something about the proportions seems off, can't really say what. Keep the coat, it's awesome, just find something else to wear with that dress. (I think you do have one or two other coats in your closet!)

    1. I agree - the length and proportions are off. I needed a short cropped jacket or a fitted one. I may have one or two coats, ha ha!

  5. Keep the coat and re-assess later with a different outfit. It could be that it feels off with this dress, or just a mood thing. It is so versatile which is why you have worn it so much. Rather don't do anything rash :) Lise

    1. Yeah, I'll probably do that, Lise. My mood definitely affects how I feel about my clothes, good point. No rash decisions.

  6. Beautiful, you and this outfit that highlights your beauty. :) I also quite like the belt...tis perfect with this dress. Swoosh factor, high. Color factor, high. Flattering to figure factor, high. Pocket factor, high. A dress like this requires a beautiful belt that harmonizes, and two do that so well, with accompaniment by the shoes.

As for the coat...maybe better with pants...maybe have it sit in the give away pile knowing you will likely retrieve it if needed. Otherwise, I agree with someone above who noted you have an amazing collection of coats and wraps from which to choose.

    Happy weekend!

    1. Aw, thank you so much, Laurie! I love the belt - it's so well-made and intricate.

I think you have hit upon the solution - I'm going to move the coat to the giveaway pile where I can grab it if I miss it. I do have a LOT of coats, wraps and jackets, but I don't think I'm going to miss it.

Thanks for the advice, Laurie! Happy weekend to you and Fred!

  7. I love the coat, but with the dress proportions might be off. It is such a bright dress, one of your patterned coats would be good outerwear.

    1. Yeah, I wish I'd worn something a bit more colourful or bold with it. The coat is a little blah and the proportions are not right. Thanks, Sam!

  8. That last photo is priceless, look at Vizzini's adorable face (and yours!)
The dress is a glorious colour, I'm glad it cheered you up. That coat has served you well over the yeras, if you're not feeling it it's time to move it on.
    Have a fantastic weekend. xxx

    1. Isn't he funny? He was very patient with me grabbing at him, ha ha!

Thanks, Vix, it did cheer me up. Colour Therapy is real! Yeah, I tend to agree - I am not feeling the slightly blah colour and the cocoon shape as much as I once did.

Happy weekend to you and Jon and the lads!

  9. I would have loved to have my retinas burned by meeting you wearing that dress! What a fabulous colour it is, and I'm glad to hear it cheered you up. Pairing it with the 80s belt was a brilliant idea. I'm sorry to hear you've gone off that coat. I've always admired it, but if the love is gone it has to go. Just make sure there'll be no regrets!
Aww, look at that gorgeous photo of you and Mr. V. His eyes are as big a saucers, though, perhaps a case of "put me down right now, woman!"? Have a great weekend, my dear! xxx

    1. It's so bright - you need to wear shades, Ann, ha ha! The coat is cool, and I have loved it for YEARS, but I feel its time may have come. I think Laurie above has the right idea: put it in the giveaway where I can grab it if I miss it.

Isn't Vizzini a cutie? Yes, he wanted his food - it's like you have a cat yourself, ha ha! Happy weekend to you, Jos and Bess, my dear!

  10. That neon dress is such a stunner on you! I love the statement beaded belt with it too :) Perhaps you just didn't like the coat with this dress as the dress is powerful enough on it's own! I do like that coat on you but how you feel in something will always be more important than what others think! Why not give it one last wear to decide?

    1. Thanks so much, Mica! Yes, I agree - I'll do what I want regardless of what others think, but I like to hear opinions. I will give it one more wearing to decide.

  11. The dress looks amazing, especially with that belt! I would say no to the coat. I don't feel any funk. And I feel it has no shape, but perhaps is just your gave who says nah!

    1. Thank you, Nancy! I'm inclined to agree with you - I'm not really feeling the coat anymore, but I am going to give it one more shot just to make sure.

  12. Fabulous colour combo. Vibrant pink pairs soooo awesomely with silver and grey. Love your elegant dangly heart earrings. This whole look is sweet and cheerful, and really says "spring heading into summer" to me.

I think that coat is fab, but if you're not feeling it any more, it may time to part ways. 100+ wears amply demonstrates how well it served you over the years, and the potential it has to do the same for its next lucky owner.

I have loved that coat for many years, and maybe it's time for it to move on. I will likely give it one more shot, just to make sure.

  13. This is the perfect jammy dress! Great retina-burning colour, and it looks great with the belt and those shoes. I'm not liking the shape of the white coat with the dress but it has looked good with other outfits. It's not like you don't have a lot of wonderful coats so you can let it go if it's not singing for you anymore.

    1. Eye-searing is what I aim for in all my dresses, Shelley, ha ha! Thank you so much.

I tend to agree - I'm just not really feeling the coat this season. I may wear it once more, but yes, I have a LOT of coats that I like better.

    1. Thank you so much, Ivana! I love this bright pink. Isn't Vizzini a cutie? He is actually very LONG, but not a big cat pounds-wise. He only weighs 7-8 pounds. He's very lean, all muscle!
