Full Matchy: Red Boss Pants and the Scribble Jacket

So, after teasing y'all with my "I got a haircut!" foofaraw the other day, here we are!
Bangs/fringe are Nature's Botox, my friends. As this grey shade fades out (this is the same colour as the previous colour, I swear!), I'll be toning it lavender.

  • Jacket - Marc Jacobs, thrifted; purchased here for $34.99
  • Sweater - Twik, thrifted; last seen here in June under orange
  • Pants - Zara, thrifted; first worn here in April in a stay-at-home look with a haori
  • Shoes - Eject; last seen here in July with my Castelbajac jumpsuit

Today marks the first wearing of this new-to-me jacket. I took inspiration from all the colours between the black scribbles for building my outfit, starting with these fabulous linen-viscose trousers, aka Red Boss Pants.
I saw about 8 people today - it was practically a crowd! - and nearly every person commented on the pants. They are really RED.
As you can tell, I didn't bother to hem them since I first wore them. Instead, I went with my highest platforms.
I loved how the chartreuse shoes went with the matchy colour in the jacket. I went Full Matchy today!

Jacket off - I worked like this for about an hour after I got to work, until my internal furnace went back to normal from my brisk walk to the office.
Although we haven't had any Flashbacks this week (I promise one this weekend), I have been looking at my various hairstyles and deciding what suits me best (in my opinion), and it's this: bangs and the classic Shag (yeah, baby!). I'll also be growing the length out more.

Jacket done up. It's too boob-smooshy for all those buttons right now, but nice to know it does do up.
It's okay to buy jackets that you can only wear open - go for it! I think they actually look better open when they are a bit snug.

Showing off my solution to these shoes rubbing my feet, which are nearly 100% recovered from their blisters of three weeks ago.
I wore short contrasting lacy anklets under them. That hint of black helped tie the black top into the jacket better too.

How does one walk to work in sneakers when one's pants are too long?
With pure KLASS, darlings. Bulldog clips, two per leg.

Masked up.
This mask bugged me - I need nose wire! However, I was quite proud of myself for selecting the turquoise/red cherry pattern for this outfit. It actually matched even better in person - a couple of my colleagues commented on it.

The stuff:
My feet were perfectly happy in these 1.5" heels all day.

Matchy bling:
The blue fur puff is better in person - it photographs dark.

  • Fur brooch - Catawumpus
  • Earrings - Tania Gleave, Vancouver
  • Turquoise/silver ring - local
  • Mexican silver/turquoise ring - Karen's
  • Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

I thought the earrings were a good echo of the cherries on my mask. So much matchy!

Have a wonderful weekend, my friends! I'll be back on Sunday to share tales of adventure!

  1. Red boss queen! I love the colour, of course, and your shoes are fab too. I thought they were Fluevog for a second!

I never thought of a fringe as "botox". That must be why people sometimes think I look like a teenager?! X

  4. Those pants and that jacket! I'm such a fashion dillard with working from home, but this outcit was inspiring. I'm actually dressing for a baby shower today. No running shorts and tshirts.

  5. I love those red pants. Styling them with a black top and platforms was the way to go. I also like the black lacy anklets. Great solution for a more comfortable work. I also loved your idea for making the pants shorter for the walk to work in sneakers- ingenious. I sometimes like to buy a longer pair to wear with heels and platforms as well.
The blazer you wore with the styling is lovely as well! 8 people must feel like a crowd right now. I hope the school will start normally here and that work life will be normal.
    Your blue ring is fabulous!

    1. Thanks, Ivana! I agree, sometimes I like to make it simple and then add complexity later with the accessories.

Eight people felt like so many, after 5 months of basically being alone. Thank you!

  7. Your new haircut is fabulous, Sheila. I'm loving the colour and the fringe! Your Red Boss Pants are magnificent, and the perfect choice to wear with that delightful new jacket. 8 people is a crowd, that's for sure :-) I have quite a few jackets which I can only just do up, and so wear open all the time. That's OK indeed, and much better than boob-smooshy :-)) Bulldog clips and safety pins are the Klassy girl's friends! And I love the lacy ankle socks you wore with those shoes. Love the mask too, but personally I cannot abide those nose wires. Wishing you a fabulous weekend, Sheila! xxx

    1. Thank you, dear Ann! I loved this outfit, and it was nice to show it off to my "crowd"!

Glad I'm not the only one who buys too-small jackets. :) I can't use a mask without a nose-wire - they slide around too much otherwise. Happy weekend to you, my dear!

  8. Love your haircut and colour. I think the steel grey looks great on you. I once heard a hairdresser say bangs or Botox and it made me chuckle. I have always been a bangs girl. Love your outfit. No one wears colour better than you.

  10. They are fantastic pants on you I can see why you'd get so many compliments, and I like the jacket with them so much! :) I realised that I often wear my jackets open, and that when I was in Europe in spring I was very cold and a bit annoyed to find out with all the layers underneath it was quite tricky to button or zip them up, haha! We don't have those kinds of cold temperatures for very often here in Queensland, wearing a jacket open is just fine!

Your hair looks great too! I'm sorry I've been so absent in blog world this week, it's been a tough week, but I'm trying to catch up as I do enjoy your posts and seeing your bright and colourful outfits! :)

    1. Thanks so much, Mica! Ha, that's funny that you didn't even realize you couldn't do up your jackets until you had layers on.

Thank you! No worries, my dear - we all have our own lives to deal with. I know you're out there - thinking of you and sending good vibes!

  11. I love matchy matchy. I love that you take shoes to work to be stylish! How many wonen take the effort? Not much over here. Those trousers are great, Zara sells the best wide legged ones! I like longer hair better on you then shorter and looking forward to see the lavender in it!

    1. Me too, Nancy! Of course! I have been carrying my "real" shoes to work for about 13 years now. These trousers were made in Spain, so I have no idea how old they are. I love the shape, though.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to being lavender again.

  12. Your new hair looks fantastic!
The red trousers look brilliant with your new jacket and I'm liking the quick fix, I've used bulldog clips, duct tape and even stapled a hem in place in the past. xxx
