Fancy Friday: Digital Irises and Cat-Bombed

Happy Friday, my friends!
I had to sneak another wearing in of this new-to-me dress before I pack it away for another season.

  • Dress - Elie Tahari, consignment; first worn here in March with midnight blue velvet boots
  • Shoes - Big Presence Earhart, Fluevog; last seen here (2nd outfit) in June with picnic plaids
  • Coat (below) - Club Monaco, thrifted; last worn here in July

Such a cool dress! I like the distorted digital print - it looks like irises.
My hair is a little more purple today - I've been experimenting.

Love these flashes of neon yellow on the dress - racing stripes down the sides too!
That sweet little kick-pleat at the back is so perfect.

I had some issues doing my pictures this morning. Someone needed attention.
"What? I'm just sitting here, minding my own business, Woman."

Sitting right where I stand for my pictures, you mean, Vizzini?
"It's a good spot for a stretch..."

Move along, buddy. You can cat-bomb me some other time.
"I was leaving anyway."

L and I met after work for dinner at Zambri's. Mmm...I haven't been there since the Olden Times, pre-COVID.

Masked up:
One of the cool patterned ones that Cat made for me.

It was slightly chilly in the morning, and I thought I'd need a light coat after dinner.
Nope, it was very warm. But I'll take it! Bring on the dregs of summer!

The stuff:
I riffed on the orange trim of the neck of the dress and the thin stripes of lavender in the background of the pattern. I loved how these shoes went with it, and our building security guard mentioned how "well-accessorized" I looked - he usually only sees me in my walking shoes, but I kept these on for L.

I was ultra-Klassy and changed into my sneakers after dinner for our walk home.

Orange and green bling:
I alternate which hand I wear the rings/bracelets on, i.e. not all green or orange on one hand. Orange bracelet + green ring; green bracelet + orange ring. These little things matter to me!

  • Glass bangle - thrifted
  • Plastic cuff/ring - Italian, 1960s, vintage mall
  • Silver/aventurine ring - consignment
  • Earrings - Stella & Dot, consignment, Vancouver

Wishing you all a happy weekend, full of hot summer weather and sunshine.
"That's so rude. It's winter in Australia, you know."

You're right, Vizzini. I hope my Aussie friends stay warm and wear extra jumpers!
"Sunning one's arms helps."

I'm sure it does.
"Can I go back to my nap now?"

I think I should rouse you for a cuddle. Heh.

Whatever your weather, stay safe, be kind and have a great weekend! Thank you for dropping by! I'll be back on Sunday with tales of adventure.

  1. It's such a fun dress and you have accessorised it so well! the shoes look great with it :)

I smiled at the Aussie comment - as while it's a chilly 23 degrees here today it's definitely feeling more like spring. The kids are preferring to play inside though, they have only been outside for a little while. They will hopefully get out more tomorrow!

    1. Thanks, Mica! I loved how well the shoes went with it.

23 is a fairly high summer temp for us here! However, it's nearly jumper time!

  5. Good morning Sheila, we have such dismal weather here but of course my morning coffee is brightened by a visit to you. I love how you pick up on the not so obvious detail like the orange trim to accessorise. hey even the security guy noticed how clever you are! Vizzini is adorable. On another note just read your comment over on Vix's page. I felt sad for the seventeen year old you and can so relate. I am now over all that appearance stuff but gee it takes years. I wish we could stick the teenage Sheila in a time capsule then bring her forward to now and see what a glamourous beautiful woman she is with people like me looking to her for inspiration( hope that makes sence). Anyhow enough deep stuff have a fab week end and rocking another well co-oridinated mask I see. Shazxx

    1. Aw, I can just picture you sipping your coffee while you read, Shaz. :)

I like picking out an unusual detail like the orange trim - that's what I find most interesting.

Aw, thank you - it's been so weird reading my 17 yo thoughts and seeing where all these self-destructive beliefs came from. It does take years! I think my younger self would love how fabulous she's become. Thanks, Shaz!

  6. Hi Sheila! Am chuckling because I immediately picked up on the orange jewelry matching a portion of your shoes but totally missed the neckline stripe on the dress. LOL This is a lesson in close observation, paying attention, and looking slowly.
The dress color and pattern, complete with the back flairs, is completely in my YESSS for a dress, along with your choice of accessories.
Here’s to the weekend, the weather - rainy here but that means plenty of time to do some proactive volunteer work for helping/hoping to get people out to VOTE come November - and making the most of what we have. Ahhh :)
    Cheers, Laurie

    1. I am all about the details, Laurie! That little bit of orange matchiness rocks my world. Thank you, so glad you approve. :)

It's been a little rainy here off and on, but it's supposed to be a lovely warm summery week, right through the weekend.

Voting is so essential now! thank you - and good for you!

  7. That dress's print is amazing, and I can definitely see Irises in it. I'm loving the very visible neon yellow zipper! I'd totally missed the orange trim at the neckline, though, so I had to scroll back for that! Very clever to use orange for some of your accessories. Your shoes, of course, are just perfect. As is your printed mask! There are so many Summer clothes I haven't worn yet, so I think I'll be packing them away a bit later than usual. I'm just hoping for some more of those final dregs of Summer, I suppose. Especially as I've just finished packing a quite un-summery capsule wardrobe for our week away, and I'm actually wearing opaques as I'm typing this! Aww, look at Vizzini snoozing in the sunshine. Phoebe's out in the garden right now, quite possibly high on catmint ;-) Enjoy your weekend, and have a lovely week ahead, Sheila! xxx

    1. Yes, all that neon yellow is so delicious, isn't it, Ann? I'm surprised you missed the orange trim!

I'll be holding off till end of September as is my usual plan - I might even push it back to the first week or two of October, if the weather cooperates.

I've been laughing at the vision of Phoebe all high on catnip! Hope you had a good one, my dear!

  8. What a terrific dress that you can wear with a lot of different accessories. Can I say I love the orange and tan shoe! My fur baby has been under the weather and won't leave my side and is on furniture he normally never goes on, and is not allowed. I guess he's telling me something too.

    1. Thanks, SAM! Sometimes the pattern helps me if it has lots of colours in it. The shoes are actually LAVENDER and orange! Me, in a tan shoe? Not bloody likely, ha!

Aw, your poor little furry one. :( I hope he's okay.

  10. Sooo very many kitty cuddles for your darling cat. He is such a beautiful being.

I adore the hits of orange in this ensemble. The colour palette of which instantly made me think of the coming days ahead, as summer mingles and ultimately fades into autumn.

Many hugs & happy Sunday wishes,

Yes, the bits of orange are what make me happiest about this ensemble. I have a lot of oranges that I'll be mixing into my wardrobe soon.

  12. What a perfect dress. As the arms are too short for me you don't have to be afraid I would steal it. Longer sleeves and you could have kissed goodbye to this beauty. After all, you are only a plane ride away (well two actually as I have to get from Vancouver to your island).
The shoes are beauties and suit the dress so well.
I am like you in matters of an orange bangle with a green ring etc.
In the office some people said things like: "gosh, how well your ring and compliments your dress". Only to hear from my colleagues: "you don't think that is a coincidence, do you?" haha.

  13. Loving the hair!!
That's a fab dress, I'm loving the groovy digital print and the figure hugging shape. The shoes are an inspired choice, picking out the funktastic orange neckline trim.
Vizzini looks so cuddly and sweet. I drive mine mad waking them from their naps for a snuggle. xxx

    1. Thanks, Vix, I've been adding more purple to it lately. I love the print, and yes to a nice curvy shape. The shoes make it, for me.

He is a cuddly boy, and it's only taken 9 years to get him that way (so much work!). I always wake him up for a snuggle.

  15. Wake me up with that dress, why don't you? Hahaha!! Thank you!! LOVE it. And that big 'ole zipper on the back. And kick pleat. The weather is so persnickety this time of year, sigh. I love your phrase "dregs of summer." But I seem to have misplaced my summer altogether. !!! Vizzini is as adorable as ever.

    1. Yeah, I'm dyeing it with a commercial brand, then using a toner colour (dark purple) watered down with conditioner to add the purple. It starts darker, then fades out to a lighter lavender (the goal).

Aw, kitty brothers! Tuxedo cats are so beautiful.
