Three-Fer! Festive Gold and Wine; Purple Sparkle at Fluevog; PANK Armour

Hello, my friends! Did you miss me? I totally forgot to warn you about our mid-week shenanigans on Tuesday night! Guess where I was?
Hint: that's John Fluevog on the left!

But first, let's do Tuesday's work outfit.
I will be happy when we are past the winter solstice and the days start getting longer again!

  • Blazer - Le Chateau, consignment; last worn here in October with a bookish skirt
  • Tux blouse - no label, thrifted; last seen here in November with monochrome wines
  • Skirt - Club Monaco, consignment; last worn here in October with olives
  • Shoes - Tudor Prysten, Fluevog; first seen here in August with peacock and pink
  • Leather coat (below) - Jeno de Paris, vintage 70s, thrifted; purchased here for $64.99

There's some colour!
I needed some good flat shoes - it's been such a busy week! I thought it was supposed to be dead right before the holidays? I built the outfit around the shoes, and pulled in some old favourites.

Like this lovely cream brocade blazer.
And my awesome - pockets! - gold brocade skirt.
And this lovely ruffled stretch silk blouse.

All locked and loaded, although I didn't wear it this way except when I put my coat on.
Yes, I had to wear my new-to-me green leather coat!
Isn't it fabulous? Those pockets are really deep.
I do like a nice back view. The shoulders are a bit big, but that allowed me lots of arm movement. It's a very comfortable coat.

  • Silk scarf - Pierre Balmain, vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Gloves - Parkhurst

The stuff:
These shoes were lovely to wear and had many admirers at work.

Dragon bling:
I usually build my outfit around this set, but this time they were slightly hidden.

  • Necklace/earrings - vintage 50s, vintage fair
  • Earrings - gift from Mom

Rar, this dragon is looking at you!
The stone is probably glass.

After work, L and I rushed home to get ready to go out - yes, on a "school night"! Such scamps we are!
Although I felt sexy and full of badassery in this dress (I had several compliments on it), in retrospect this dress felt slightly too clingy and sheer (although I did wear a cami under the top half). I might try wearing it as a top, or it might go straight to the giveaway pile.

  • Dress - Planet, consignment; purchased here for $40.00
  • Shoes - Poser Ioni, Fluevog; last worn here in October with a chartreuse cheater
  • Coat (below) - Prosper & Devine, antique mall; last seen here (3rd outfit) in December

Just enough time to take some pictures before we dashed off to the downtown Fluevog store!
"You're choosing shoes over me?"

Victoria was a stop on John's book-signing tour - of course, we had to go!
L, you silly guy!

We always stand out in a crowd, but at Fluevog events, everyone looks like us! There were two other people wearing skinny plaid pants, and another guy wearing the same boots in brown as L's.
"I bet no one looks like me."

In such a hurry, I'm blurry!
My dear friend Ally saw this book in New York and sent it to me a couple of months ago - I have read it cover to cover and so appreciate Ally's thoughtfulness. It's a gorgeous book, full of pictures of gorgeous shoes!

Fully bundled up for the chilly night.
The pink tentacle coat makes a reappearance. "Guess which coat is mine?" I said when we got our coats from the rack at the back of the store.

  • Scarf - V. Fraas, thrifted
  • Gloves - Danier

The stuff:
These shoes are leather with a wool finish, and a brocade heel. So fun.

Sparkly bling:
My dress was plenty sparkly - didn't need much else.

  • Bracelet/earrings - Myka, gift from L
  • Crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop, Florence, Italy
  • Gold/amethyst ring - Frances Jewelers, c. 1965, Dad's

We got there early, with only a few people in the store. It was packed an hour later.
I love seeing other Fluevoggers - they are always interesting and have quirky style. We saw some people we'd met the last time we went to a party at Fluevog (here), and met some really cool new folks.

Ack! There's John himself! The blazer he's wearing is patterned with a painting of scenes from John's life and his 50 years doing shoes.
I stood in line with my book for about 20 minutes and then had my moment.
"I'm just going to sign my name," he said as he scrawled in gold across the page, then he checked out my shoes, and we had a discussion about how moths eat everything (including my other wool Fluevog boots - these). Short and sweet. There were a lot of people in line for signing.

Here's my beautiful book.
I asked John to sign on the page with the picture of the iridescent Malvern...
...since L owns a pair! I also picked up a postcard advertising the book tour.

Our friends Yvonne and Randall, and Linda and Brad, also showed up.
All fabulous, of course!

Randall and Yvonne.
Yvonne wore her sparky top - it used to be mine, way back here in December 2012...with my grey wooly boots! Ha, it all comes around.

Linda and Yvonne, rocking their 'Vogs.
I'm envious of Yvonne's rocking violet lace-up boots. They are seriously cool.

The six of us went out for dinner after, and although we were home by 9pm, it still was exhausting partying on a school night! I did not put any effort into my outfit today.
Of course, it's a jammy dress!

  • Dress - Essentiel Antwerp, consignment; last worn here in August with my wooly purple shoes - deja shoe!
  • Shoes - Miista; last seen here (2nd outfit) in November with a cape
  • Coat (below) - Hilary Radley, thrifted; last worn here a couple of weekends ago

Get ready for PANK! It's so pink, it's PANK!
My coworkers LOVE this dress - I always get raves when I wear it. Do not adjust your set, this is the real, almost-neon colour.

"If this pink is PANK, does that make you a punk?" asked a colleague.
"Totally! Pink PANK punk!" I love it when people get into my outfits.

As you can see, I wore the same tights as the previous night (also the same cami underneath).
Look at the colour, not the tired lady, says this PANK armour. It really worked!

Outerwear - I needed the Unsafe ocelot today for its snuggliness.
 And pink accoutrements, obviously.

  • Fur boa - thrifted
  • Gloves - consignment

The stuff:
These shoes also got lots of love.

Minimal bling:
I barely had the energy to pick out earrings.

  • Earrings - consignment, Vancouver

  1. How fun you got to go to another Fluevog event! And it's great you could get the book signed :) I really like the sparkly dress you wore, even if you didn't feel 100% comfortable in it you looked great! :)

    1. I know, so cool! Getting the book signed was just icing on the cake. Thank you, Mica - I've decided it's just not me. I have other dresses that look better.

  2. Another Fluevog party! How lovely to hang out with like-minded, well dressed folk. It looks an absolute blast. Ally's book is all the better for the addition of John's autograph.
You both look fantastic. Jon's got a few pairs of skinny tartan trousers, too - they look so good on both our menfolk.
It's hard to believe that dress you lok so good in is by Planet. I remember a Jehovah Witness friend loving the label as they made modest clothes - your dress is pure rock chick especially with the fringed beast!
Great to see the Pank and the Unsafe Ocelot and an outraged Vizzini for being left home alone while his parents went off partying. xxx
PS the vintage leather trench looks fab!

    1. It is so nice to be among people who "get" us. The autograph makes the book just that more special.

Thank you! I love when L wears those trousers, but they are very tight (although stretchy). I know, I was surprised that the dress was Planet - it is usually quite a conservative label.

  3. Well, of course I missed you! But how absolutely thrilling that you got to meet John Fluevog again and have him sign your book! The sparkly dress you wore is gorgeous, but I'm hearing you on the issues you got with it. Loving L's skinny tartan trousers and I'm wondering if I could get Jos to wear a pair like that. The green trench is even more amazing on, and I'm also loving those amazing shoes. No wonder they were admired. And ah, it's the PANK Essentiel Antwerp jammy dress! PANK plus the Unsafe Ocelot = the perfect armour! xxx

    1. Aw, thank you, Ann! I know, so exciting. I'm always star-struck. :) Yeah, the dress has issues - I will give it to a younger friend, I think. Jos would look great in tartan skinnies, I think.

Isn't the green coat amazing? And PANK for the win!

Fancy you getting to meet Mr Fluevog himself again!

Despite being tired after going out on a ‘school night’, your PANK dress has done the trick. X

I love your first outfit, and how you built it around your shoes, adding textures and colors which enhance them, all the brocade, frilliness and gold and finally The Coat!. It's such a magnificent color and looks so fab!. Brilliant!
Totally love your purple dress and matchy shoes with those tights and the fringed coat!, sassiness!!. Also loving that L. looks so elegant and cool (and his boots are so fab!). I'd love to attend any event with such well dressed people!, lovely that this event was so cool!. Love your friend's fabulousness too!
And PANK is a favourite of mine too, and you totally rock in this dress!. Lovely shoes, lovely tights and accessories and a snuggly coat make it even more fabulous!. You're gorgeous!

    1. Thanks so much, Monica - I like this outfit better than the first time I styled these shoes. I enjoyed my purple sparkly outfit, but I have other things that look better. L is such a snappy dresser, as are my friends.

I love the PANK dress too! Thank you, my dear!

  9. Lovely, lovely shoes! I am lusting over those floral lace ups and the woolly shoes are just fabulous I love that shape of shoe; it's very reminiscent of the 1990s, I think.

Lovely outfits, too. I liked the clingy dress you wore to the Fluevog event; I just thought it would have been even better worn over something... L looked magnificent! You do make such a fably, stylish couple.

    1. Thank you so much, Vronni! I wasn't sure about the high vamp on the shoes (it's very 80s to me), but I'm coming around on it. Yeah, the dress would have looked better hoiked up like a top, but I have to stop buying this bat-wing shape - it's not the best on me.

Thank you! I love that L dresses up too.

  10. All of these outfits are fabulous. I love the first one with the gold brocade skirt and those gorgeous flats. No wonder you build your outfits around those flats, they're gorgeous. I love the outfit with the clingy purple dress and red tights too...and the purple heels you wore with it are gorgeous. Great outfit for book signing, especially when it's for a book about shoes. Finally, your neon pink dress is stunning. The animal print coat you paired it with is fantastic. SO many great looks. You've been busy but still very stylish!

    1. Thanks, Ivana - I like picking one item to focus on like this. The tights are actually purple with pink polka dots. Thank you - I love the PANK dress!

  11. That is a great photo of you and John (Fluevog)! I'm sure you and L stood out even in a room full of fellow Vog-lovers. You look super sassy in the sparkly purple dress but I get you on the "too-clingy" thing (personally I think it looks great on you). The colour of that leather trench coat is to DIE for.

    1. Thank you! Nah, we blended right in with the rest of the Unique Souls! It's kind of cool, actually. Thank you so much - it did feel too clingy once I saw the pictures. I love the trench coat!
