As you may have noticed, my second-hand shopping has slowed considerably in the last month or more - I just haven't had time! It's all good, though, as I have a rather large wardrobe and have no shortage of things to wear.
It was bright this morning - look, colour! Ha, but I'm wearing greys anyway.- Cardigan - Cable & Gauge, consignment; last worn here (3rd outfit) in December 2018 for theatre with Mom
- Skirt - Zara, thrifted; first worn here in March 2019 with a leather peplum (same shoes!)
- Shoes - Amante, thrifted; last seen here with all greys in October 2019
- Coat (below) - Danier Leather, consignment; last worn here in December 2019
One of the very handy side effects to shopping one's own closet is that you quickly realize when you do not love an item.
Both this sweater and skirt are now in the giveaway pile.
While I like the cardigan sweater, it's just not me. I bought it a few years ago for $22.98 and this is only its fourth wearing. I never reach for it.
And while I love the pale grey extra-fluffy texture of this skirt, it's itchy and it feels cheap.
Which it was! I got it in a Buy One-Get One Free deal for free!
It cost me nothing, so off it goes.
Outerwear - it's rainy and not overly cold now, our normal winter.
I don't have to fully bundle up, hurray! I even took my gloves off to cool me down when a hot flash hit me on the way to work.
- Scarf - Roots, thrifted
- Gloves - Danier
The stuff:
I love the classic shape of these snakeskin print shoes. They're not going anywhere! I've worn them at least 20 times, bringing them down to 50 cents a wear.
Grey bling:
A mix of thrifted stuff, plus Grandma J's jet necklace.
- Jet necklace - vintage 60s, Grandma J
- Silver/onyx ring - Tocarra, vintage fair
- Hematite ring and bead bracelets - thrifted at various times
- Chain bracelet - thrifted
- Earrings - thrifted
I love the shape of these shoes. So attractive.
ReplyDeleteThank you - they are such a classic.
DeleteThe ensemble looks rather nice in the pictures, but doesn't quite have your signature pizzazz and, of course, all things itchy must be banished.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nana! It just didn't feel quite like me.
DeleteIt's a shame you didn't love these pieces, the skirt in particular looks so fun, but I always admire how you decide to remove things from you wardrobe - sometimes I dither about it and hold onto things for longer than I need to!
ReplyDeleteHope that your week is going well! :)
Away From Blue
The skirt is fun, but it's hot, itchy and just not quite me, Mica. If I want to keep shopping, I have to weed things out! Having a giveaway pile makes it easier if I change my mind. I don't actually give things away for months, about twice a week.
DeleteOoh, I do love that cardigan jumper, but if it's not you, you know what you have to do. I'm hearing you on the skirt, though. Away with cheap, itchy garments! On the whole, although it does look lovely, this outfit might be a bit too tame for you, if you know what I mean. I'm used to a more colourful and wacky Sheila! xxx
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely cardi, but eh, not quite there, Ann. Yes, I know what you mean. More colour today!
DeleteI think this is a nice outfit, and your cardi looks lovely (love embroidered details and beads), but it's ok to let ítems go if they're itchy or not fabulous enough!. Glad to see these magnificent shoes anyway!. You rock in them!
ReplyDeletebesos
Totally agree, Monica! I have lots of things that I love more. Like these shoes! Thank you, my dear!
DeleteThat's a smasher of a cardi, but if it's not your thing it's best set free. It can find someone who loves it and you can find something you love more!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mim, yeah, it's not quite there for me. I'll be happy to see it go to a good home.
DeleteNeutral outfits always look elegant and timeless. I love vibrant colours, but I also enjoy reaching for neutral tones. Grey in particular appeals to me because it is such an easy shade to style. This skirt is such a grey pairing with that black cardigan. I also like the accessories you reached for. The heels are just the perfect way icing on the cake.
ReplyDeleteThey do, Ivana, which is why I like to do them sometimes. I love grey, but just not these specific ones (the cardi is a charcoal grey, not black). I love the shoes! Thank you!
DeleteI love your Mary Jane's. There is something about these type of shoes. And they are a perfect match to a pencil skirt. It's always a good thing to get rid of things you don't wear anymore.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nancy - these are t-straps (Mary Janes have a single strap across the vamp). They're a really classic style, going back to the 1920s! Agreed, it's good to let things go.
DeleteI love your skirt and cardigan, and the shoes are great.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Polly!
DeleteClassic Look! i am loving t-strap shoes more and more these days!

No, not without personal interaction, Ti M. I hope you take the time to build your blog and get to know your followers. It's not just about the numbers.
DeleteI think the cardigan is really pretty, but the skirt is definitely not up to your usual standards. It's good to be able to let things go when they no longer speak to you. I've been getting rid of a lot of stuff lately but I'm still not seeing any empty space. I firmly believe that the clothing left in the closet expands to take over any space left.
ReplyDeleteYeah, they both just felt "meh" to me, and when that happens, I have to let them good. Empty space is good, but I do find myself getting attached to things. It's hard to let go! I agree, I think my clothing is breeding when I'm not looking, lol.
