Bigass Weekend Wrap-Up: Soft Pink and Olive; Catnipped Kitty; Wampa Brunch

Ah, these weekends are just too fast! Friday only seems like yesterday - here's what I wore:
I built my outfit around my new pink velvet shoes. This will be their only wear this season, as the fabric and colour are more a spring thing for me. Into the spring/summer pile, to be rediscovered in a few months.

Linking up to "Visible Monday" over at Patti's Not Dead Yet Style - go!

  • Blouse - Cache, thrifted; last worn here in June 2018!
  • Skirt - Holt Renfrew, vintage 80s, thrifted; first seen here in July 2019 with ruined Helmut Lang
  • Shoes - Sol Sana; purchased here for $79.00
  • Leather trenchcoat (below) - vintage 70s, thrifted; last worn here on Monday

My coworkers admired this outfit, in particular how my pale pink hair matched all the soft pinks.
I'm shocked that I didn't wear this blouse at all in 2019. However, it is a very specific look - equestrian - and I'm not always feeling that look.

The blouse is superb quality (stretch silk) as you can see from the perfect symmetrical cut of the pattern.
I also had admirers of this lovely olive A-line silk midi skirt, but it didn't ring my bell, so this is the final wearing. I paid $22.99 for it, and only wore it twice, but it's going to my coworker Flavia, so I know it'll be in a good home.

I do like that front slit, though. Sex-ay!
Still sick (and not very sex-ay), but doped up with cold medications to mask all the symptoms. They do make me a little loopy, which amused my boss as I tried to talk to him and it all came out garbled. "Maybe I'll just email you."

Outerwear - we're having big windstorms all weekend, and the forecast is for up to -7 and snow next week. Yikes!
I clipped my hair up under my toque and wore my Doc Martens to get to and from work, both to keep my hair from snarling in the wind, and to protect the velvet shoes from the elements.

  • Toque/scarf - Danier Leather
  • Gloves - Parkhurst

The stuff:
These shoes were lovely to wear. Velvet's gonna velvet, though - the buckle on the ankle straps was determined to locate itself to the inside of my leg instead of the outside.

Brass bling:
I love this heavy leather, sisal and woven metal mesh belt. It has good weight.

  • Belt - Sand Castle, thrifted
  • Bracelet - faux Gucci, gift from Mom and Dad, Italy, c. 1986
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop, Florence, Italy
  • Feather ring - Fossil, thrifted

L and I have both been taking it easy for the past couple of weekends, partly because of the NFL football playoffs, and partly due to illness, so Vizzini's been getting spoiled by our presence.
"Nonsense, I have my ball to entertain me."

The orange squishy ball is a favourite (he rests his head on it when he sleeps), but nothing beats a little "kitty pot".
"Ah, my happy fish."

He goes a little crazy when he gets his catnip-filled fish.
"I love it and hug it and bite it."

He also rubs it all over his face.
"AND I BITE IT."

He really got into it!
"Oh, fishy fishy, you are my one true love."

He only gets his fish for a few minutes before it's covered in drool.
"Our love is passionate but brief."

He gets quite agitated when we take it away.
"The orange ball is a distant second in my affections."

It does knock him out for a few hours, sleeping, and keeps him from hounding us for food. Vizzini can be a very demanding and yowly monster when he wants to be!

On Saturday, I skipped my Mental Health Walk, as I'm still bone-tired from being sick.
L and I strolled down to Pluto's Diner for brunch, a quick shop, and then home to watch football.

  • Sweater - Nor; last seen here (2nd outfit) in August 2019 for a shopping expedition
  • Sparkly turtleneck - Jacob, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) in December 2019 under purple velvet
  • Silver trousers - H&M, consignment; last seen here (2nd outfit) for Book Club in November 2019
  • Shoes - Star Wars Collection, Irregular Choice; last worn here (2nd outfit) in March 2019 for another Book Club
  • Coat (below) - Apparence, vintage 80s, thrifted; last seen here in November 2019

Just some favourite items, shopping my closet.
I like this kind of casual look - the waitress at Pluto's liked it too.
I hadn't worn these shoes for a while, so I built the outfit around them.

Stretchy space pants, a sparkly turtleneck and this lovely open-knit sweater.
 And the Unsafe Polar Bear!
Brrr, it was cold and windy (none of the curl stayed in my hair).

  • Scarf - gift from Mom
  • Gloves - Cejon, thrifted

The stuff
The shoes have Yoda and Luke Skywalker on them, from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, easily my favourite Star Wars movie. With the Unsafe Polar Bear coat on, I felt like a Wampa (this guy), rar! I eat Jedis for breakfast!

  • White gold earrings - Frances Jewelers, 10th anniversary gift from L

Vizzini was super-excited to see us when we got home.
"I'm still sleeping off my pot fish."

I could read his mind, though.
"Sit down so I can sleep on you, Woman."

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! Thanks so much for coming by.

  3. Hello! Oh, yeah, you wear the space pants, I'll wear the space jacket and off we'll go, wheee! No, I haven't been into my pot fishie. Heh. Love your photos. The one with the windswept hair is cool. Sorry to hear you are not 100%, but soon, soon. I'm glad you have the football to keep you distracted. xo

    1. Of to space we go! It does sound like you've been sucking on a pot fit, heh.

That was a windy day! I'm getting there, slowly but surely. Thank you!

  4. I love the pinks and olives in the first outfit although a shame you're not feeling the skirt. So nice you can pass it along though! :) Hope that you feel better soon and all the resting helps!

  7. I've got nothing but love for Friday's outfit, Sheila, including that wonderfully flowy olive midi skirt, but I'm totally respecting your decision to let it go. The number of times I've been told that I look good in something or other, or that something I'm wearing is gorgeous, while I'm not feeling it ... Ultimately that is what matters! Loving the casual, space pants based outfit too. Not to mention Vizzini's antics with his catnip fish. Phoebe has a catnip mouse, and she only gets to play with it once in a while too. Like Vizzini, she's always slobbering all over it and she's looking quite glazy eyed afterwards! xxx

    1. Thanks, Ann. I agree, and I liked the outfit too, but eh, the skirt, not feeling it. That's what keeps me going, the rotation in and out of things that are special.

Isn't Vizzini hilarious? I can imagine Phoebe going gaga for her mouse too.

  8. Totally in synch with Polyester Princess's comment about Friday's outfit (looks quite spiffy on you :-)) as well as the rest of the comment about how other's see the outfit versus how the wearer feels in the outfit. The silver pants outfit is also spiffy but with spunk!
Glad you are all almost fully recuperated. Vizzini is a hoot, as always, and gets me thinking of Robin's kitty and cat, who have now come to a healthy appreciation of one another. Wish there was a way to share a photo here, as the most recent one shows kitty Frankie draped atop cat Samson, both looking content (or at least that's the way I choose to interpret. ;-))

    1. Thank you, Laurie! I like having casual outfits on the weekend with a bit of pizzazz.
Getting there, nearly better. Vizzini and all other cats are so lovely. AW, that sounds so cute!

  10. That silk horse-y blouse is so beautifully made. And your silver pants with dark tops is divine! I love the texture matching.

  11. What a perfect outfit and what a pity you gave alway this skirt. But I get it, this outfit suits you, looks very good but you are usually more flamboyant. I have a tip for the sliding ankle strap: have a cobbler stitch it put in one place. After all there is no real need for it to slide. I do the same with the flap of my sneakers: the cobler fixates it by stitching it put on one side. I can still get into the shoe but the flap doesn't slide to the side anymore. Am I making sense? Bit of a language problem for me here. The shoes are adorable.

    1. Thanks, Greetje. Yeah, I know, it's a very nice skirt, and it's FINE, but I don't love it.

Thank you for the tip (which I will probably never do, as I am lazy and don't go to the cobbler or tailor pretty much ever). :) I get what you mean - your English is perfect.

  14. I do hope you and L are both feeling better!

It seems it's true then - catnip sends cats a little crazy. I'd always wondered but those pictures of Vizzini in a frenzy with his fish proved it's true!

I loved your outfits; I thought the skirt was very elegant and of course the pink velvet shoes are so pretty. Loved your space age trousers and the mesh type jumper together and of course the unsafe polar bear is the perfect thing to top it off with!

We have pretty windy weather at the moment...

I'm envious. I'm sick of snow already.

  15. I thought the olive skirt looked very elegant, in fact the whole outfit did, but if it's gotta go, it's gotta go! The big wow factor of the weekend has to be those silver pants - rock on baby!

  17. Those soft shades of pink and olive look so pretty with your hair. I'm sure you'll find another skirt that goes perfectly with that blouse. Sorry to hear you and L have been sick. It's been a bitch of a month so far here - I got a cold after Christmas and the cough is finally starting to go away, but I've felt like crap for three weeks!
