It's been so dreary this week, with no end in sight. More rain is coming. It's good, though; we'll need it for the summer.
But sunshine has been sparse, and I am really noticing the lack of it. I had to wear my own today.- Dress - Lida Baday, vintage 90s, vintage fair; last worn here in October 2019 with lots of leopard
- Boots - Matisse, consignment; last seen here (3rd outfit) in December 2019 with a bunch of bronze
- Coat (below) - L'Atiste, consignment, Vancouver; last worn here a couple of weeks ago
I also chose a Jammy Dress for comfort and if I'm wearing yellow, you know I'm probably really in need of mental fortitude.
My coworkers reacted with great enthusiasm for this bright colour - it makes me feel cheerier just looking at it. More colour therapy in action.
I note that last time I wore it, I thought of styling it with a turtleneck underneath, but just the thought of that makes me sweat, ha ha!
I was warm in it as it was. Hot flashes, oh, joy.
Pockets always make me happy.
As does the weekend looming!
Outerwear - L made my day this morning by calling this look "Mobster's Girlfriend." Love it!
I freakin' adore this ginormous hat. Isn't it amazing? I showed it off to a few of my coworkers, who all wanted to pet it.
- Hat - M&S, consignment, Powell River; purchased here for $10.00
- Gloves - thrifted
- Scarf - gift from Mom, Italy
The stuff:
Comfy boots.
Mixed metal bling:
I love all those clean lines.
- Silver cuff - JPL, vintage fair
- Torc cuff - POLY, thrifted
- Rings - POLY, vintage fair/vintage expo
- Earrings - vintage fair
And now, my friends, I'll be signing off for the weekend - I will be back on Sunday with tales of adventure (after the Super Bowl - go, Chiefs!). Have a wonderful weekend, and thank you for coming by.
I definitely used this trick this week - it's been a tough week so I pulled out some of my brights the other day and felt a bit better for it - hot pink and blue! :)
ReplyDeleteSo rough, Mica, and isn't this a great way to perk ourselves up? Woo, looking forward to seeing your brights. I hope your day gets better!
DeleteLovely dress - so cheerful and very flattering on you!
ReplyDeleteLooking at your hat reminds of current TV advert and that always makes me laugh; in fact most of their adverts are brilliant. The ad is for 'SpecSavers' a chain of opticians over here; and features a bespectacled vet with a stethoscope listening to the chest of what ones assumes is a cat. His assistant is putting on her coat to go home as he shouts out 'Karen - cat with no heartbeat here'. She calmly walks over, gives him a look and retrieves the 'cat' which actually is her huge fur hat! The tagline is ' should have gone to SpecSavers'!
Have a great weekend.
xx
Thanks so much, Vronni! OMG, I love that! When I showed this to my coworkers, we joked about that - that we could pet it and pretend it was our office cat. Love it!
DeleteHappy weekend to you, my dear!
Your dress certainly makes up for the lack of sunshine, Sheila. In fact, it was a dreary day here too, and that second photo of your post almost made me reach for my sunglasses ;-) But just the thought of wearing a turtleneck underneath made me break out in a sweat. Hot flashes, hurray! Or not! The dress looks magnificent worn with those high boots, and I'm loving your Mobster's Girlfried outerwear look. That hat is fabulous, as I knew it would be! Have a wonderful weekend, Sheila. I'll be off for a short break next week. xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Ann! Ha, I know, that bright yellow is eye-searing! Yup, a turtleneck is a big NOPE right now. I loved the hat, wearing it, touching it!
DeleteEnjoy your break, my dear! Thank you for coming by!
Good Morning Sunshine! You certainly are making up for the loss of the solar smile we have been experiencing! Such a cheerful shade! I too would be after that hat if you worked with me. I stroked a colleague's coat as she walked down the corridor this afternoon. She's not a particularly tactile person so I think she was a little alarmed! I do love furry stuff though!!! Your coat is classy!!!x
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks, Kezzie! I really miss the sun. The hat is really nice and soft - you would be petting it for sure. Thank you!
DeleteHow smart to wear your sunshine! Yellow is such a happy colour. I do believe in colour theraphy and I find we really need bright colours when the weather gets grey. This is a lovely styling for sure. You look stunning in this yellow dress. Those gorgeous boots are the perfect pairing with it. I also really like the coat. The mobster girlfriend compliment was wonderful. Have an amazing weekend dear.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ivana! Yellow is a great colour for me - it really cheers me to wear it and see it. I love the coat and the whole outerwear look - and that compliment was the best! Happy weekend to you!
DeleteOh what a gorgeous dress! I bought those bright yellow ankle boots and now I saw a bright yellow pre loved trench coat. But I am not sure if the color would look good in my face! Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteI think you should go for it, Nancy! Wear a big silk or wool scarf near your face if yellow is tricky against your skin. Thanks! Happy weekend to you.
DeleteYou always find things in the best shades of yellow! That is definitely a dress to wear when your spirit needs a lift.
ReplyDeleteI love yellow, Shelley, so it always catches my eye. The dress did its job, felt much better by the end of the day.
DeletePockets never fail to make me a very happy camper as well - especially when one lucks out and discovers them in a vintage garment.
ReplyDelete♥ Autumn
I know! They are often a deal-breaker for me if I'm waffling over a skirt or a dress.
DeleteI still love this dress. Very well styled with the gorgeous boots.
ReplyDeleteGreetje
Thank you, Greetje!
DeleteLovely dress and lovely attitude!, I think you rock yellow (particularly) and this dress is stunning!. Love the 'mobster's girlfriend' vibe too! ;DD
ReplyDeleteWearing your own portable sunshine!
besos
Thanks so much, Monica! Some days just call for yellow, don't they?
DeleteYellow jammy dress with pockets. Oh how I hope that lifted your spirits somewhat. I'm working backwards and therefore only encountering your bleak days now, but am heartened to see that you did emerge from the bleakness. Well done and hurrah xxx
ReplyDeleteIt has worked a bit, Anna, but nothing beats real sunshine. Colour therapy has been really helpful this winter.
DeleteVery pretty zip up dress She - as I write its a cool 26 degrees and I feel cold! Seeing your bundled up like that reminds me that we're lucky to have this weather.
ReplyDeleteThanks, hon! I love that bright yellow. I dream of 26! You are so lucky!
