Psychedelic Sequins

Today, I had a work event to go to, a mixer with contractors and clients. I know everyone who comes to my office, and it's nice to say hi to some of my favourite office guests.
I always like to dress up a bit for it, even though it's at a pub. Sequins!

  • Blouse - Sylvia Lee for Barcelino per Donna, vintage, consignment; last worn here in February in an ode to Karl
  • Dress - Esprit; last seen here in January on a "casual" Friday
  • Boots - Prepare Map, Fluevog; last worn here in November with mostly matching mauves
  • Coat (below) - Donna Karan, consignment; last seen here earlier this month

This viscose tank dress is covered with sequins, sewn end-to-end to give it a "liquid" look. It's very comfortable, and an easy outfit.
I have worn it with a blouse underneath to make it work-appropriate before - I just wore a different blouse...and tights and shoes - gotta shake things up.

This is a gorgeously thick 100% silk blouse - I love the crazy pattern.
It's quite psychedelic.
My coworkers loved this look. I felt very seasonably sparkly.

Outerwear - it's been grey and overcast with spitty rain.
Time for a puffer!

All snuggly and bundled up.
 I just love this coat.

  • Scarf - V. Fraas, thrifted
  • Gloves - Parkhurst

The stuff:
I wore these boots so that I could walk to the pub from work and then hop the bus home later without changing out of them. I hate dealing with the laces.

Mod bling:
I noticed that these new-to-me earrings really matched the green in the blouse well. Perfect!

  • Earrings - consignment; purchased here for $12.00
  • Lapis lazuli ring/Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

While I was getting ready this morning, Vizzini kept bumping the bathroom door open and leading me away - I always follow him, to give him a little attention in the mornings.
"Come in here, Woman! We must cuddle!"

I wish! But I'm home now, and the couch is calling.

I have plans tomorrow night, so won't be posting again until Thursday - stay tuned for a two-fer!

  2. I love the sequin dress and it looks great layered over the shirt! :) My mum thrifted a sequin tank for me to wear to a runway show a few weeks ago and I still haven't thought of another way to wear it - I like that you find statement pieces so easy to wear, I feel I need to work a little harder with them! (I was going to go wear my red suede flats with my outfit tomorrow but it's supposed to storm again so I'll stick with basic black patent I think!)

    1. I remember reading about your sequined tank, Mica! You need to wear it! Just throw it on with a maxi and BE FABULOUS.

  3. Another reason why you're my fashion teacher. Not only do you acquire great items, you put them together in outfits that never would have occurred to me. I love this ensemble and, with the same clothes, couldn't have assembled it myself. Genius!

    1. I love trying new things, Ally! Thank you so much, but I am no genius, just a gal who isn't afraid to fail. :)

  4. Much prefer to see sequins worn irreverently like yours than with stilettos and a clutch bag!
What a great outfit for a relaxed pub outing.
    Still love those boots.
Hope Vizzini got his cuddles, our boys need their love! xxx

    1. Same here, Vix - why not wear sequins to work, I say! It was more of a corporate schmooze vibe than a chill vibe, but it was still fun to be so sparkly.

Oh, yes, he gets so much love and attention from us. :)

  5. Ooh, what a delightful outfit! I love how that groovy blouse works under the "liquid" dress. The boots are amazing too, I squeal over them every time I see them. And I think I know someone else who likes them, his name starts with "V" ;-) I'm sure you have to hide them away from him. Love it that your tights are an almost perfect match! xxx

    1. Thank you so much, Ann! I know, these are such fabulous boots. The laces have to be hidden from Mr. V - he wants to eat them badly! I do like a matchy pair of tights!

  7. Love your 'seasonably sparkly' attitude and how you create so many fab outfits and look so fabulous in them!. Love the different textures (liquid sequins & silk) and the color combo around your silk shirt with the burgundy/mauve shoes and coat!, so delightful!

  9. I've never seen the appeal in puffer jackets, but I've got to admit, your one is fab! I think it's the wonderful colour that does it. Looking forward to reading your two-fer. X

    1. They aren't to everyone's taste - most of them make their wearers look like larvae. Thank you, Jess!

  10. You look fabulously svelte and sparkly in the sequin dress, and you choose a great blouse to wear underneath.
