Birthday Week: Legs Lacroix

The weekend is upon us, as Birthday Week continues with a favourite fall dress.
It's a jammy dress, nothing else to it. Comfy as heck.

  • Dress - Desigual by Christian Lacroix, thrifted; last worn here (3rd outfit) in January with red boots
  • Shoes - Napoleoni, thrifted; purchased here for $16.95
  • Leather jacket (below) - Danier Leather; last seen here in April

I love the trompe l'oeil print - the top bib portion is embroidered and beaded. Edited: link to a picture of the fancy stuff here.
I often wear this dress with tights - wearing it with nylons felt a bit bare. Legs McGee, that's me!

The dress has horizontal lines of gold sparkle in the fabric.
But it's the print that is so awesome.

I first wore it in January of 2016 (here - I have purple hair!). Can you believe I only paid $24.00 for it??
This is the tenth time I've worn it, so I'm at $2.40 per wear.

Leather weather!
I had a company shindig after work and knew I'd be walking home, so I wanted to be bright. Safety first!

Bundled up for the chilly morning and evening walks - more frost.
Orange and red for fun.

  • Toque - Danier, thrifted
  • Fur scarf - thrifted
  • Gloves - Parkhurst

The stuff:
(I've been working on my camera settings for better lighting)
I'm happy to report that these shoes were fantastic and comfy to wear. I really like the shape of them, and the deep oxblood burgundy colour.

Gold bling:
The usual suspects.

  • Belt - thrifted, Powell River
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Amber ring - c. 1996
  • Gold/amethyst ring - Frances Jewelers, c. 1965, Dad's

More birthday presents! L spoils me.
Clockwise from top left: "Princess Bride" talking book, a collection of modern Cthulhu mythos stories, an action/fantasy novel, a cheesy-looking 1950s paperback, a My Chemical Romance CD, a Fluevog gift card (yay! shoe shopping!), and two pieces of jewelry.

The left necklace is probably from the 1930s, and seems to be pewter and amber.
The chain thing on the left is a bracelet. The links are hollow, it's stamped silver and made in Thailand. Both were purchased at the Vintage Mall (A+ for secondhand shopping for presents!).

A close-up on the sections of the necklace.
They remind me of droplets of sap coming out of pinecones.

And now, I'm off! This weekend is a long weekend for Thanksgiving in Canada, and I have a bunch of events planned. I will be back on Monday with tales of adventure! Wishing you all a happy weekend!

  5. I would have loved to see a close-up of the embroidery and beads. It is indeed a steal for 24,50. And those shoes are a steal as well. They look not worn. Hankering for such bargains here.

    1. I have edited to add a link to a close-up picture for you, Greetje, thanks for the suggestion. The shoes had a tiny bit of wear, but I think they hurt the previous owner - there are marks (blood??) on the backs of the ankles. I love bargains.

  15. Yet another outstanding cpw ! What a cool dress I am beating myself up for not buying a LaCroix suit a few years back for less than 20.00 USD-
Just the other day I was reading up on LaCroix and how he was never profitable.
