Whether you're into Valentine's Day or not, I wish all my family, friends, readers (including you lurkers!) a big ol' mushy bunch of love. Love yourself first!
I experienced much love for my PANK dress on Thursday, I tell ya.
"What kind of era is this?" I was asked at my WW meeting.- Dress - Essentiel Antwerp, consignment; last worn here in December 2018 - recognize the tights/shoes/necklace combo? I wore it on Tuesday!
- Boots - Minnetonka, thrifted; first worn here in December 2018 with silver pants
- Coat - Apparence, vintage, thrifted; last seen here earlier this week
"It's modern," said I. I refuse to stick to an era or look. I'm everything! I will not be boxed in.
I always wear pink or red for Valentine's Day, even though L and I don't really celebrate it anymore. We had pizza and watched "Shakespeare in Love" (L is a romantic guy!) and bits of "The Princess Bride".
Thursday was still snowy - and it started snowing more near the end of the workday. Zoiks!
Fortunately, it didn't last or stick.
Hands in PANK pockets. What's "PANK"?
My dress is so pink, it's PANK. The colour in the stair picture up there is actual - this is a neon pink. It's Bright with a capital B!
B also stands for "blurry".
Trying to show off my fringed boots.
Outerwear - the Unsafe Polar Bear is in high rotation right now.
The temps were getting warmer, for sure.
- Cashmere beret - Club Monaco, thrifted
- Fur scarf - Danier Leather, thrifted
- Leather gloves - consignment
The stuff:
These boots were so fun to wear, the fringe thwapping as I walked.
Blue love bling:
I pinned my fur brooch at the top of the buttons.
- Earrings - vintage fair
- Brooch - Catawumpus Fudge & Funk
- Fulvia Ring/lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
Special effect filter for the Castle shot that morning.
The snow is melting!
Today, it's the Friday before a long weekend! Woo! Monday is Family Day for most of Canada!
I liked half of this outfit. Guess which half.
- Denim sleeveless dress - Only, thrifted; last worn here in November 2018
- Top - Jean Paul Gaultier, consignment; last seen here in a cosmically-dazzling outfit in December 2018
- Wool trousers - Talbots, thrifted; first worn here in November 2018 with pink and red
- Shoes - Aerosoles, thrifted; last seen here in January with silver jeans
- Coat (below) - Vassali, consignment; last worn here in January
It's the top half - I got the top half right. I belongs on another outfit.
I disliked the bottom half, and by the end of the day I loathed it with a consuming passion. Must go! Begone!
I like layering this dress open over other clothes. It's warm, plus Drama! as it swooshes behind me when I walk. I'm a fan of cape-like swooshing, from capes, dusters and flowy things. Movement in my clothes is important to me.
I should wear it as a dress again soon.
Pockets! Yessss!
I scored on these pants when I got them - they were only $6.95. They are 99% wool (1% Lycra), they are fully-lined, and they are lovely quality, plus just the right length. But they are weird in the crotch and they read very frumpy to me.
This woman? Not frumpy. These are now in the giveaway pile. I wore them twice, and at $3.50 per wear I'm happy.
"Hey, I'm just doing a drive-by rubbing. This post needed more cat." |
I did the dress up when I had my coat on - it has two snaps plus the tie belt.
Outerwear - it rained overnight, melting a lot of the snow, and it warmed up considerably today, with flashes of blue sky and sun!
I did not need my furry boa scarf or my wooly gloves by end day. Huzzah!
- Fur scarf - thrifted
- Gloves - Parkhurst
The stuff:
These shoes are everything I like: comfy, sparkly...SPARKLY. But they just do not work for me. Maybe it's the shape, I don't know. I can't quite pinpoint it, but NOPE. They're gone. Looking back, they were just an "okay" element in most of the outfits I put them in:
- Not too bad with silver pants in January (here, 2nd outfit)
- In an okay outfit here (6th outfit) in November 2018
- In a shopping outfit here (5th outfit) in November 2018 with grey tights (ugh)
- With jeans in a sparkly casual outfit here in October 2018
I paid $58.98 for them, and have worn them 5 times. Not the greatest cost-per-wear, but hopefully, they will go to a good home.
Silver bling:
Round shapes! I wore this chain belt as a necklace, looped once around my neck like a choker. I actually built this outfit around it.
- Belt - thrifted; purchased here for $4.95 - first wear
- Silver/gold cuff - JPL, vintage fair
- Cuff - POLY, thrifted
- Earrings - thrifted
- Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
- Silver/crystal ring - Soul Flower
Happy weekend, my friends! As it's a long weekend, I shall be back on Monday with tales of adventure.
Too bad about the shoes, but I'll bet whoever gets them will love them :)
ReplyDeleteYup, I wasn't feeling 'em, so off they go - I know someone will love them! Thanks, Cynthia!
DeleteThe belt worn as a necklace is a great idea! :) It's a shame you didn't love the entire outfit on the last one but it's good that you could get rid of the pieces you didn't enjoy! shame about the shoes, but it means you can wear more of the ones you love instead! :)
ReplyDeleteI like your Valentine's day outfit too - so very pink! We don't really do Valentine's here but there was a guy handing out fake roses on the corner near the office so I picked one up to give to my girlfriend and make her smile and it made her day so I'm very glad I did so! :) I bought the boys a cake for after dinner too - they are asking when it's Valentine's day again now, haha!
I felt rather clever about that, thanks, Mica! I'm quite happy to let things go - they must give me joy.
DeleteAw, that's a sweet gesture for you to do! So nice. :) Ha, the boys will be wanting Valentine's every week!
The neon pink is such a fabulous colour. I had a Ted Baker jacket in this colour and used it when I wanted to make an impact! I love those funky tights too. The sleeveless denim tunic looks like it was made for you. So flattering and elegant!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gail! It's a great colour, and I love the fun vibe of it. I adore the tunic/vest too - that's how every item should feel, right?
DeleteI love your PANK dress. I just went back in your blog to review past wearing of it, each one a hit! This shade of PANK goes well with black, as in your Oct styling (I think it was Oct, with a black bow.) but it looks spectacular each styling.
ReplyDeleteAlso your second outfit, the dress as a duster is lovely.
Too bad about the shoes, this happens to me all the time. I have to bond with my things. Especially shoes and purses.
Have a great weekend,
Thank, Amie! And thanks for taking a gander back at it - I love it.
DeleteYes! I have to bond with my clothes too - and if they don't work, off they go to a new home. Happy weekend to you!
I adore PANK (and red actually!!) I'n a bit romantic like L---sounds like a perfect day of LOVE <3
ReplyDeleteI won't be boxed in style-wise either---I like to get into everything!
I love that L is a romantic guy. Happy Love Day to you!
DeleteYes, exactly! I won't be limited in how I dress.
I can't even begin to tell you how much your Valentine's Day outfit cheered me up. You know I love your PANK dress! And it looks even more fabulous the way you are wearing it here, with the blue fur brooch, floral tights and fringed boots. Drive by rubbing! Whatever will Vizzini come up with next? That cat is a comic genius! Wishing you a great, long weekend Sheila! xxx
ReplyDeleteAw, so happy to hear that, Ann! I know you love this great dress.
DeleteVizzini is such a ham. Lots of weekend pics coming of him. Happy weekend to you, my dear!
Your PANK dress could be from the 60s, it looks like something Jeannie would wear. So fab!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely long weekend, it's lovely that you have a day off for family day. X
Yes, it has a very 60s mod vibe, doesn't it, Jess?
DeleteI'm so happy to have a stat holiday - it used to be a really hard slog till Easter!
Oh ding you just hate it when you are wearing something and you dont feel good in it! Enjoy your Sunday!
ReplyDeleteYes, Nancy, it is the worst! I just wanted to go home and change my bottom half, ha ha! Thank you! Hope you had a great weekend.
DeleteLove the fringed boots. I've had dreams about fringed boots. You're living my dream, Sheila!
ReplyDeleteFringed boots are the best, Ally! I dream about fringe too!
DeleteI just love your PANK dress and the tights are wild! A perfect Valentine's frock.
ReplyDeleteLoving Vizzini's drive-by rubbing, he approves of your lower half even if you don't!
Have a fab Canadian family day - whatever that involves! xxx
Thanks, Vix! I loved being so bright - the weather put a damper on V-Day, so I was glad I was so bright! Vizzini just likes being in the pictures, that little ham.
DeleteThank you! Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Hope you are enjoying your long weekend - I am trying to get caught up on blog commenting! Most years I don't celebrate Valentine's Day although occasionally I will give my co-workers valentines if I'm feeling warm and fuzzy. Your Valentine celebration with L sounds just perfect. The PANK dress is such a FAB colour.
ReplyDeleteI so appreciate the comments, Shelley! Aw, that's a sweet thing to do. I sometimes do more, but I often don't bother with Valentine's. PANK is my favourite colour!
DeletePank it’s a fabulous sport for this neon pink color. It shows your own unique humor and the vivid hue suits your personality. I also love those very cool tights. Modern is a good word to describe your style but I think Of you more as electric eclectic!
ReplyDeleteI also love the outfit that is centered around that sleeveless denim jacket.
This year I celebrated both Galentines day and Valentine’s Day. It was exhausting but quite fun.
I love the filtered shot of the castle. It’s ethereal and compelling.
❤️❤️❤️

Right!? It's very me! I love "electric eclectic" - thank you, Elle!
DeleteNice, it's so good to spread the love around, isn't it?
The Castle is a neat landmark. I love being near it.
I love the hot pink colour of your Essential Antwerp dress and your outfit photos - blurry action-photo included! It looks great worn with the floral print tights. I also love the look of that pretty Jean Paul Gaultier blouse. Lovely lookbook!

Thank you, hon!
DeleteSheila, I had a pink dress similar to yours when I was in grade school. I loved it! It was bright neon pink and had a white lace bib, long sleeves, and the bell shape that that yours features. It was considered high fashion for the time, which was in the late 60s. Thank you for reminding me of a favorite article of clothing!
ReplyDeleteOh, I can totally picture that, Susan! This is very much a take-off on that mod look of that era! Aw, so nice to give that gift of a remembrance!
DeleteOh yes ... this is PANK!!!!!!! Schiaparelli PANK.
ReplyDeleteYou saw it here first: PANK!
DeleteThat pink dress is fabulous and it reminds me of the Oscar's dress by Valentino that has been all over Instagram. It's like a shorter version.
ReplyDeleteQuite smart that you wore the dress as a duster and it looks amazing - sometimes I find myself not maximizing the use of my garments because I cannot think outside the box like this.
Yes, I was yelling at the TV, "Look at all that PANK!" - L was quite amused.
DeleteI have actually worn that dress more as a duster than as an actual dress, shockingly!
Thanks, Lorena!
In theory those shoes ought to have worked, but somehow they didn't deliver the wow factor for you and honey you deserve wow. Talking of which I've got trousers that are dodgy around the same area so next time I find them, out they go too! We won't be frumped - yes, it's a verb x
ReplyDeleteYes, that's the thing with them - they always felt like they should have worked, and they really didn't. Sigh.
DeleteNo frumping here either!
