Whale and Brolly Mismatch

Monday, guh. I found it really hard to motivate today.
I was also peeved at myself for this outfit. The proportions are off, and that really bothers my little OCD heart.

  • Sweater - C. Wonder, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) for May's Winesday
  • Skirt - SP; purchased here yesterday for $30.00
  • Shoes - Michael Kors, thrifted; last seen here in May with an alien necklace

I draw your attention to the last time I wore these shoes (linked above) - that was also a thin sweater and a ballet-length full skirt. That outfit: successful.
This outfit: not. I do like all the pieces of it, though. This new skirt was marvelous.

I thought of tucking in the sweater, but then laziness got the better of me.
The length of the skirt, combined with flat shoes (needed for my pulled calf), requires a defined, high waist.

But it has pockets! And can you really feel that agitated when wearing both umbrellas and a whale? I think not.
 And all is forgiven.

Lest you think I am really beating myself up over this, dear readers, I am not. I dress to push myself and try different things. Sometimes they work, and sometimes they don't! Move on, and try again.

The stuff:
I really love these shoes - they are so elegant. I'm a sucker for an ankle strap.

Yellow bling:
I liked the mix of yellow and the citrus-y orange in my outfit.

  • Cuff - thrifted
  • Ring - c. 1996
  • Bakelite earrings - vintage 60s, vintage fair

Tomorrow is another day!

    1. Mrs. Fractals? Ha ha! Thank you, Becky! I'm not that upset - I was just being grumpy. :)

  2. I didn't see your first pic as a proportion fail - I guess I was too busy looking at the fun whale and the cute umbrellas!

  3. Like the other commenters, I really don't see anything wrong with your outfit. But I have to admit that this sometimes happens to me as well, when I'm wearing an outfit that just doesn't feel right, and everybody else thinks it's great. Blame it on Monday, eh? Love your yellow bling! xxx

    1. Thanks, Ann! I'm looking forward to remixing this skirt with something else (and I'm very motivated to find a decent yellow top to wear with it right now!). I don't usually "fess up" on outfits I don't like, because I like to see how others seem them, but this time I was just so annoyed with it and myself!

  4. Ah... pulled calf.. you are in sick bay as well. I am very interested in low heeled / flat shoes all of a sudden because of the knee and the arthrosis. Ugh... could think of nicer things. Nevertheless, like getting it wrong once in a while with an outfit, we get these health things thrown as well. For both: deal with it and move on. I agree with you.

    1. Yes, it's not fun! I want my calf to be better now! Thanks, Greetje - practical as always. :)

  5. I like Greetje’s positivity! When I wind up with a malfunctioning body part I start to “feel old” and when the body part is healed I vow to never do that “silly thing” that caused the problem in the first place. Ha ha, the only way to really prevent that is to never get out of bed. ;) I empathize and also understand what it feels like to be in an outfit that doesn’t feel quite right. Just makes it more fun to remedy that sensation the next day! (I’m seeing a fitted royal blue short sleeve top with the umbrellas...)

    1. I do too, Laurie! She's lovely in person too - another person I've connected with through blogging! I have a few medical things I'm going through right now, and it feels like a bunch at once, a bit overwhelming!

I like the idea of a blue shirt with the brollies, thank you!

  6. Ouch! Hope that pulled calf isn't causing you too much bother. Love the mixing of the brollies with the whale and lusting after that yellow plastic bangle. xxx

    1. It's a pain in the...calf! Thanks, Vix! The bangle is a really good quality item - I paid $2-3, and the original sticker under that was over $35. Score!

  7. I agree with you my dear OCD friend, the proportions are off. Regardless the pieces you are all wearing are fabulous on their own. Please wear that skirt again soon, do it justice.

    1. I will wear it again soon, and try again. It deserves that!

  8. I love the pieces of this outfit, but you're right, there is something about the proportions that are a bit wonky. I think the skirt needs to be shorter as it hits in that awkward mid-calf spot.
