Pride Week: Firecracker for the Fourth

My company celebrates diversity in the workplace and is doing Pride Week activities all week. My desk is covered in rainbow flags - I love it! This week I'll be wearing loads of colour to celebrate and show my support for LGBTQ+.
Bam! Firecracker in your face! This outfit got huge reactions at work (and out on the street).

  • White shirt - no label, thrifted; last seen here in June with a double belt
  • Dress - Tangerine Jill, consignment; first worn here (3rd outfit) in April to the theatre with Mom
  • Shoes - Effortless Bebe, Fluevog; last seen here in June for dinner out in velvet

I prefer it on its own, but the old "put a white shirt under it" trick worked just fine to make this work-appropriate.
I completely adore this dress - and it's a shame not to be able to wear a party dress more frequently.

It's still a once-a-season dress for work, maybe twice.
I had oodles of comments about it, from people hollering at me on the street, to my colleagues and our clients gasping over it. I blended in with all the rainbows at my desk, though!

The hat was the only outerwear needed. It's hot but overcast today, which means muggy when you're this close to the ocean.
It smells like rain - hopefully just overnight.

The stuff:
I also seem to be doing a Fluevog theme this week. I do have a lot of them!

Matchy bling:
I added this vintage copper necklace under the collar of my shirt to make it a bit more interesting, although a dress like that doesn't need much.

  • Necklace - Renoir, vintage 60s, vintage fair
  • Earrings - the Cobbler, c. 2007

A very Happy 4th of July to my American friends!

  3. This is an unforgettable dress Sheila. I can imagine it over a turtleneck.
You know many times I think that too, I wish I had more parties to attend so I could wear all these party dresses.

    1. I loath turtlenecks, but I do have that new black velvet one that I bought recently.

      More parties! More dressing up!

  5. That really is a firecracker of a dress, Sheila, and I'm not surprised you got so many comments. I love how you're wearing it with the white shirt underneath, but I'm seconding Vix's idea of the emerald green polo neck! xxx

    1. Thanks, Ann! I seem to have a "green gap" in my wardrobe, so we'll see what I can find next time I'm out thrifting. :)

  6. I would certainly be one of those people hollering at you on the street. In a very good way. The stress is completely fabulous and one of the nicest I have ever seen. That includes dresses that I’ve seen online and even on the runway. I am completely smitten. I love the red shoes and hope you can find a way to where this lovely dress more often. It’s a dress that makes a person smile.

  9. Another one of my favourite dresses of yours! That is so cool that your workplace is doing a "Pride Week". I find it strange that Pride is celebrated many places during the month of June, but then there are places in Canada (such as London, Ontario where I am) that celebrate it later in July.

    1. I was pleased to get a work-wear out of it. I know, why are they different weeks? It's odd.
