Well, duh, of course I had to wear this glorious skirt again!
I had a lot of reactions to this outfit - people really do love colour, even if they don't wear it themselves.
Vizzini got in on the action this morning while I was taking pictures. We had many cuddles while I was getting ready, and he tried to chew on my necklace several times.
Oh, so it is, thanks, buddy.
The tricky thing with a bold skirt like this is...what do wear with it? Black...white...one of the colours in it, if you're really into that much brightness! I had originally planned to wear my white shirt from yesterday's outfit, but when I chose to layer it under the dress instead, I needed some other top to wear.
Why not baby blue? I basically treat aqua as a neutral anyway.
I entertained myself going down the stairs at work by letting the skirt really billow out like a train behind me. My coworker Olaf admired it: "I'm going to hang back here and not step on it."
I declared myself a Polychrome (meaning many colours) Princess. You may bow if you wish, but really, I don't insist on it.
Ruffles on top, ruffles on the bottom! This vintage baby blue blouse gave the whole outfit a very 70s vibe.
Also, did I mention pockets?? There are pockets!
The stuff:
One of my WW people asked how comfortable these could possible be. SO comfy! There's a huge hidden platform inside the toe, so it's really only about an inch heel, and all that platform is cork, so it's very bouncy.
Oops, I forgot my belt.
A lovely leather wrap belt, made locally.
Copper bling:
- Blouse - no label, vintage 80s, thrifted; last seen here in a winning combination in April
- Skirt - A Tribute to Marimekko by H&M, thrifted; first seen here just last weekend with black
- Shoes - Prepare Guide, Fluevog; last worn here in April with stripes and floral

Copper bling:
I'm getting a nice collection of copper mixed with turquoise, ranging from stuff from my Grandma J, to pieces I've picked up second hand, like the brooch that I bought a couple of weeks ago at the vintage fair for $5.00.
- Necklace - consignment, vintage 60s (based on Vix having the same one, which belonged to her grandmother)
- Brooch - vintage fair, $5.00 - first wear
- Earrings - Matisse by Renoir, vintage 60s, Grandma J's
- Ring - vintage, Grandma J's
- Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
I'm double-booked tomorrow night after work, so I'll be back on Sunday with my Bigass Weekend Wrap-Up! See you then, and have a wonderful weekend, my friends!
I love the blue shirt with the skirt! Such a beautiful combination, especially with all of those accessories! :) And of course I'm very happy to see you wearing this again!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mica - I was quite pleased with myself at this combo.
DeleteOnly someone with your vision would put baby blue with this fabulous and colorful skirt. This is spectacular combination and I love the outfit. I am indeed bowing !

Well, I'm lucky to have a lot of things in my closet that I can wear with it! Thank you, Elle!
DeleteThat skirt all kinds of divine, and that blouse really does add that '70s vibe. Queenly, yes, it is. I do bow.
ReplyDeleteThank you, dahling!
DeleteWhat a brilliant idea to wear baby blue with that fabulous skirt. And the skirt's got pockets too, how wonderful. This is exactly the kind of 1970's style I love! As for wearing colour, I've lost count of the number of times I've had that remark. I wonder what it is that's holding people back? Did I tell you I always love reading Vizzini's thoughts? Have a great weekend, whatever you're up to! xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Ann! This style really brings back memories of the 70s for me too. I don't know why people are so afraid to wear colour! It's so odd.
DeleteVizzini actually thinks those things!
Well my dear Polychrome Princess you look amazing and this skirt continues bewitch me. I would love to see you wear it with a white crisp collar button shirt, Carolina Herrera style.
ReplyDeleteI originally planned on wearing it like that - I probably will do so at some point. Thanks, Lorena!
DeleteLove that skirt with the aqua blouse, an inspired combo! xxx
ReplyDeletePS Good to see Mum's necklace!
Twin necklaces! Thanks, Vix, I loved this colour mix.
DeleteI love the 70s vibe of this outfit, Sheila! I love the pairing of this skirt with baby blue and the copper bling. Love the belt too! Hope you have a great weekend, Sheila! XXX
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Sasha! Happy weekend to you!
DeleteDid you ever read the Oz books? Book number 6 or 7 is called Tiktok of Oz and features' the Rainbow's daughter who is called Princess Polychrome!
ReplyDeleteYou look a vision- the pale blue goes so beautifully with that frankly magnificent floral skirt! I love how it looks!
I'm not the only Princess Polychrome? This is outrageous!
DeleteThanks so much, Kezzie!
Love the ruffles-over-ruffles, what a great look. I think of aqua as a neutral too. Thanks for linking up, xox

Flashbacks to the 70s, eh? Thanks, Patti!
DeleteWhat a pretty outfit! I love the colours in that skirt, and would have never thought to pair it with a pale acqua. I could never wear a skirt like that to my work, I go up and down too many stairs and would end up going "ass over teakettle".
ReplyDeleteThank you! I was proud of myself for coming up with it. I am a pretty skirt wrangler by now.
Deleteeven if I'm really late on my commenting, I Have to say how much I love these colorful outfits! and the aqua as a neutral thing! brilliant!
ReplyDeleteLoving your shoes too!
besos
