Is it colour backlash from Rainbow Week last week? Nope, just working my way through all my not-yet-worn clothes and I didn't feel like making a lot of effort.
And when I'm feeling lazy, you know I'm going to default to a dress.- Dress - Talbots, thrifted; last seen here in July 2017 with new Fluevogs
- Shoes - Van Eli, thrifted; last worn here (6th outfit, way down at the bottom) in May for the start of Jeans Week
- Jacket (below) - Club Monaco; last seen here in June
I think of this as my Charlie Brown dress because the zigzag stripes remind me of his shirt. I haven't worn this dress in a full year, but it is packed away for 6 months, and it firmly falls into the "hot weather" dress category. I don't like a jacket or cardi layered over it, so I need to wait for warm weather.
It's a lovely lace over a cotton/poly lining. Very comfy and loose, but not a sack.
It was a quiet day at work, but I'm still glad it's over.
I have a long weekend coming up, and I'm going to take a wee blog break, as Samantha recommends here (join her link-up!). I don't have a phone/tablet/laptop (I know, shocker!) so it's pretty easy for me to step away.
Outerwear - I was all ready for the sun, but it didn't appear.
"I hear the siren call of my cat-bed." |
- Hat - thrifted
The stuff:
I put a pair of inserts in these sandals, hoping to stave off the deterioration of the inside soles, which seem to be made of cardboard (??). I'm going to have to toss these at the end of the summer, which is a shame because I quite like them.
Silver bling:
Just pieces I like.
- Bangle - local
- Dragon bangle - Lazy Susan's
- Cuff - St. Paul's Cathedral gift shop, London
- Earrings - Mom's
- Lapis lazuli ring/Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
That's a lovely dress and I do the same with my lazy outfits - just throw on a dress! It's my way to feel more pulled together than I am! :)
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy your long weekend, I look forward to your post weekend wrap-up!
I don't know why more women don't wear dresses, when they are so easy! Thanks, Mica! I'm not off until Friday, but I'm ready for it!
DeleteDresses are such an easy wear when you're just tired. Its one garment away from being totally dressed and if its a gorgeous dress like this one. Enjoy your time off !
ReplyDeleteOh, I so agree, Lorena! Thank you! Can't wait till Friday!
DeleteI wonder if you could save the buckles from the sandals and attach them to another new pair of simple design?
ReplyDeleteThey're part of the shoe, Jan, not a separate piece. I am not going to hack these apart, but good thought!
DeleteElegant look! Dresses are brilliant for the hot weather we've currently been enjoying here in the UK. So easy to wear.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gail! Send some of that hot weather this way, would you?
DeleteI'm must be feeling lazy a lot of the time, as I'm usually wearing dresses, although I do try to vary and wear separates more often. The truth is that I'm addicted to dresses, and I've got so many of them ... Anyway, back to your dress which is looking absolutely fabulous on you. I love the zig-zag pattern. Now that you mention it, it does remind me of Charlie Brown's shirt. Who'd have thought he was such a style icon! Shame about the sandals, though. I bet you are counting the days to your long weekend! xxx
ReplyDeleteHee hee, I hear ya - I love dresses, and really have a hard time weeding out some of my lesser ones so that I can buy more! Who knew Charlie Brown would be such an influence? Yes, bring on that long weekend!
DeleteHello! That dress is fan-tastic! Love how you styled it.

Thanks, Meredith!
DeleteA simple dress like that is my go-to on a day where I don't have time, or the inclination, to wear anything more complicated. I like the zig-zag pattern.
