Casual Mid-Week Pattern Mix

Hey, thanks to everyone who weighed in on yesterday's white blouse - it's been put into the giveaway pile for someone else to love.

I'm off to Book Club in about half an hour, so let's get this going. Today's outfit is made of all new-to-me unworn pieces.
In a flurry of outfit-building a couple of weeks ago, I finally put this cool top into rotation. I love that pattern - it reminds me of a circuit board or a subway map.

  • Wool top - Obakki, consignment; purchased here in late December 2017 for $18.98
  • Silk pants - J. Crew, consignment; purchased here for $29.98
  • Suede shoes - Camper, thrifted; purchased here with Ally for $34.95
  • Linen jacket (below) - Club Monaco, thrifted; first worn here last week

Because I shop mostly second-hand, I am always looking for just the best clothes, regardless of what time of year it is. This top has been waiting nearly 6 months to get worn!
As you can see in the stair picture, it's a really cool mod blue-on-black graphic pattern. The black parts are fuzzy, and the blue parts are almost like a denim weave (the backside is the opposite). It's fully-lined and covers my bra straps perfectly (a very rare thing!) - however, I did wear a tank-style cami under it for extra coverage and warmth in my A/C'ed office.

I really like the shape of this top - it is sort of a trapeze, and while it hides my figure on top (much like that dreadful white top did), for this top, it works. Cut is everything!

The trousers are fabulous - such a rich fabric, with little slubs in the silk. I liked how the small pattern of them (which is blue/gold stylized flowers, and small red/gold diamond shapes) went with the larger pattern of the top. I also adore this cropped length!
They have front slash pockets, and two horizontal pockets in the back, which I am going to keep stitched closed. Too tempting for me to jam my hands into them, otherwise, and because these are a silk weave fabric with zero stretch, it could tear.

A light coat for a sort-of warm day.
I love to jam my hands in my pockets!
I liked that it echoed the white in the shoes without it making the whole outfit too "4th of July".

The stuff:
First wearing of these totally fun Camper sneakers, and they were wonderfully comfy. I wore them barefoot (no blisters), and I didn't want to take them off. I am not quite on board with the running shoe/trainer/sneaker trend, but these felt like an unfussy version of that look. Baby steps...

Silver bling:
Clean lines on the shoes and clean lines on the bling.

  • Cage cuff - Bauxo
  • Steel cuff - thrifted
  • Earrings - local
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

  3. That's definitely a subway map on your top! Looks a bit like Antwerp's ;-) It works really great with the pattern of the trousers, too. And I really love the echoing of the swing jacket with the white of the shoes. The whole outfit is very cute! xxx
