All Blue, Skirt Gift, Hair Apparent

Temps are climbing but I'm still in sweaters and boots. Must.Get.One.More.Wear.In!
I had oodles of compliments on the outfit today - everyone loves a rich blue. Don't you?

  • Wool cardigan - Ports International, consignment; purchased here for $28.00
  • Blouse - Jacob, thrifted; last seen here in January with a butterfly skirt
  • Skirt - Club Monaco, thrifted; last worn here (4th outfit) in September 2017 for a Saturday brunch
  • Boots - Ishshoes Chatterbox, Fluevog; last seen here in March when I met up with reader Erin

A glorious view of the Castle this morning.
Blue sky! And the Gary oaks are starting to unfurl their leaves a tiny bit.

This outfit was all about the cardigan - it was absolutely delightful to wear in the office.
As you may have noticed, I'm trying to incorporate all of my new-to-me purchases into my existing wardrobe pieces. It's important to keep creating new looks, and trying new combinations - it would be easy to put all my new stuff together, but it has to integrate with the rest of my wardrobe, or it's just not going to stay long. I've had this skirt for 4 years, first seen here in 2014 (my hair is so orange - and short - there!).

I think this cardi is a keeper, though. It's the perfect length - didn't roll into my office chair wheels once!
I swooshed it about dramatically for a few people.

I forgot to put my camera back on non-zoom...
You can see my "Vixens - Girl Gang" bag that Ally sent me months ago - I use it every day.

Here's what I meant to take.
Yeah, I'm just chillin' over here in my blue.

Ready for the great outdoors.
Buttoned (which I don't like as much as open), with my hat and gloves. Gotta keep my hair out of the sun or the colour will fade.

  • Hat - vintage, thrifted
  • Leather gloves - consignment

The stuff:
You can really see how very blue the velvet boots are here in bright light! It's much harder to see in winter. Several people at work wanted to touch them.

Blue and silver bling:
 Some favourites.

  • Filigree cuff - St. Paul's Cathedral gift shop, London
  • Bangle - local
  • Earrings - local
  • Lapis lazuli ring and Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

Emily at work gave me a skirt that isn't working for her. She bought it at a boutique downtown that specializes in BC/Canadian-made items.
 It's wool suiting...in fact, it's recut from a men's suit! How cool!

It's by Handcut by Preloved, same as my new-to-me sweater/blazer that I picked up on the weekend (pic here).
I'll give it a whirl! Thanks, Emily!

So, my hair. If you've been reading my blog for longer than a week, you might have realized that I like to change my hair...a lot. Last night, I played with the colour.
I dyed the tips with a bright burgundy colour.

Then I did my roots with my usual dark violet.
 I like it! It's bright, it's fun, it's different.

I laughed at this picture.
I see me!

  2. Your hair is lovely and that outfit is stunning! I need more long cardigans! Maybe this winter! It has started to cool down here, but it's not quite cardigan weather yet!

    1. Thanks, Mica! I am loving the long cardis, but I have to stop at two of them. I hope cardi weather comes soon for you!

  3. Love your hair, and you look amazing in your almost all blue outfit. I'm especially taken with the long cardigan. I never wore long cardigans until I picked up an orange one last Winter, which I love. I agree with you that it looks better open, as when closed it loses its swoosh factor! I would have wanted to touch those boots too ... xxx

    1. Thank you, Ann! I have never really done long cardigans, so it's a bit new for me, but I'm liking it! Can't loose that Swoosh Factor! The boots are a really soft velvet...

    1. Thank you! The product I use on the tips doesn't open the hair shaft, so it's not as damaging. Thank you, Vix - I'm very tough with my new clothes. If they don't work, they are gone!

  6. First of all boot goals! How fabulous are these in this rich blue velvet. I love the colors of this outfit and the proportion also. That long cardigan is super. I can see why this outfit received so many compliments.
I love that skirt you received from your friend. I can’t wait to see how you style it,
I also love your hair color. It is like a Crimson balayage!

    1. Ha, thank you, Elle! Everyone responds really strongly to this particular shade. I'm excited to try the skirt out. Yes, thank you! I can't afford a "real" colour (and it grows out just as fast), so it's fun experimenting.

  7. Oh it's all about the boots for me Sheila - how I adore the rich velvet hues of these babies! And yes, I'm having a final fling with my favourite boots on the blog this weekend as temps are improving here too. That jacket turned skirt is cute. I can't wait to see it on!

  8. That shade of blue is my favourite too, and I have a long cardigan in almost the same colour (which I need to wear!). The sweater really does make the outfit. I love items of clothing with a good "swoosh" factor.
