Wallpaper Pants

I saved my gorgeous blue and antique gold brocade pants for today, to wear to my WW meeting. I knew my group would like them.
My daytime colleagues were also full of admiration for all parts of this (people like to pet the top).

  • Top - Hommage, consignment, Vancouver; last seen here (2nd outfit) in December 2017 with my Christmas tree skirt
  • Pants - Noa Noa; purchased here on the weekend for $49.99
  • Shoes - Tod's, thrifted; last worn here in December 2017 with the dragonscale skirt
  • Coat (below) - BCBG Max Azria, thrifted; last seen here last week

These pants were tricky to style - I ended up with this fluffy, neutral chicken sweater. I'll probably wear this Helmut Lang top with them (matchy!) at some point, but I held them up to every top I own and struggled. How would you style them? What colours would you do?

There is a nice horizontal pocket with a wooden-looking button on the back right side. These were wonderful to wear.
The pattern is totally wallpaper. I want a wall in my house done in this!

Pockets, yessssss...
Nice deep ones too - I don't like little short pockets.

Outerwear - I popped one of the chestal buttons off the coat today, so I will probably be a year until I get around to sewing it back on little while before I wear it again.
It was chilly and grey today, and now it's started raining. Brrr. Done with winter!

  • Fur scarf - Danier, thrifted
  • Leather/cashmere gloves - Club Monaco, consignment

The stuff:
These are the comfiest high shoes I own, I think. My feet are tired after an 11-hour day, though.

Brassy and blue bling:
One of my earrings spontaneously popped out of my ear as I was leaving WW. Good thing I noticed!

  • Faux tortoiseshell bracelet - J. Crew, thrifted
  • Chain bracelet - Club Monaco
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Lapis lazuli ring/Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

    1. Thanks, Vix! The top is a favourite, for sure. The shoes are pretty cool, I admit!

  3. Pretty outfit. Obviously from the Advanced Fashion Class. I keep trying to learn how to sew, every time I pop a button myself, but always fail to get around to it. Going to a tailor is just so much easier. Maybe I'll learn when I quit work and have more time.

    1. Thank you, Ally! Sewing is not that hard, especially not sewing on a button - it just takes time. I guess Brownies and Girl Guides were good for something!

  4. Love the pants! I also love the names you give to your clothes & outfits. If it's not too boring, I think a crisp white button down blouse with your incredible jewelry would be stunning-kind of Hepburn-ish (Katherine or Audrey, you choose) Carol in VT

    1. I thought of a white shirt too, Carol! I'll probably do that at some point. Thanks so much - I like clothing with personality!

  5. I agree with Vix that those trousers look even better on! The brocade is just fabulous and it would make totally awesome wallpaper. Your chic(ken) sweater is a perfect companion. I was thinking orange might be great with it too. Love that bracelet! I've just finished all my sewing projects, consisting mainly of sewing on or replacing buttons. I never seem to get around to it either, and then suddenly there's a pile of things waiting to be done ... Have a great weekend, Sheila! xxx

    1. I know, right? I was so happy that they fit so well. I considered orange! I have a blouse (and shoes) and they could be a fun look. I usually save up a pile of button-sewing and do it every year or so.

  6. Amazing pants! What a great addition to your wardrobe. For styling, I would treat the pants as a neutral. I think you could wear any colour on top, solid, or even a big bold print, but that might just be me. I love this combo and that chicken top though (I remember when you bought it, that store is sadly closed now). I look forward to future fun with these pants.

    1. I tried prints - they didn't look quite right, but yes, I will treat them as a neutral, good idea. I know, I looked for that store last time we were in Van, aw...

  7. They are awesome pants! :) You know me, my first thought was a grey tee, haha! But I know you have a few more fun neutral pieces. What about yellow too, and a darker blue or navy? Or pink! I like blue and pink :)

    1. You won't catch me in a grey top any time soon! I like the idea of pink! Thanks, Mica!

  8. Thanks, danae! I'll do tan with the Helmut Lang top. I like the idea of yellow, red and orange too. I wish I had a gold lame jacket! No, the dress doesn't come apart at the waist.

  9. Any solid color top, the usual white or black or navy, but I also think pink will be great, or apple green, or purple, or yellow. Actually the possibilities are endless, but I can see why prints wouldn't really work. I have paisley patterned pants in white, pale pinke and pale orange. I always only styled them with a white or black T-shirt. Last summer I paired if with a light blue T-shirt and it looked really good. Sometimes the less obvious works. Love your style and your blog, and your kitty :) Lise

    1. The possibilities are endless, but my closet isn't! I have a few of those solids, and look forward to trying them out. I still think a print would work, but it's tricky. I never wear t-shirts - I'll keep trying, though! Thanks so much, Lise!

  10. I think your styling of this is nigh on perfect Sheila. I have a gold sweater that I would pair up the gorgeous brocade pants with, but hey you'd have to post them to me first, hahaha!

  11. I declare openly that I am a brocade fan ! On anything: pants, bags, furniture...
The Helmut Lang would look good with these trousers and I would probably do green with it too.
