Ah, I am so grateful for long weekends! I really needed that extra day. Well, are you ready? This is a picture-heavy post, but I guarantee I had a good time!
Friday's outfit for work.

|Note the bag of cones and Ulti gear in the background|
A scarf for a little extra sun coverage (although I'm always sunblocked to the teeth for Ulti).
All leather jewelry!
- Scarf - Ralph Lauren, consignment
- Leather cuff - thrifted
- Wrap cuff - Catalyst Reaction Leather, thrifted
- Earrings - thrifted
- Sunglasses - the Patch
I took the camera to the Ulti field. We play at Victoria High School (aka Vic High), and it's a lovely old neighbourhood, so I took a few pictures on the way there.
There's Vic High - and I see a few players have already arrived.
We get ready on the steps of Vic high. It's a big wide granite stair.
I told you I don't play in my "real clothes" - I change into my gear at the field.
Here I am in my gear. I started off on Team White. This is an old Calvin Klein t-shirt that I thrifted years ago. I'm also wearing stretchy shorts, and my Carolina Panthers ball cap, with my hair pulled back into a small ponytail.
At the end of a point. I see the disc behind Andrew (stretching his back), so we scored. Team Dark is doing the "walk of shame" back to the other endzone. Each point is full of sprinting back and forth, up and down the field. We run about 10 kilometers in a game, easy - the games last 1.5-2 hours.
We traded players to make the teams more even, and it ended up being a close game, with a win for Team White.
Cory and I after the game, collecting the cones and water bottles. I was traded to Team Dark midway through the game, so now I'm in my Alice Cooper t-shirt.
Woo, off with those cleats!
Most of us, getting out of our sweaty gear and uncomfortable cleats.
Dave volunteered to take this one so that I could be in a picture.
From left: Zeb, Mac, Steve, Cory, Karen, me, Nick, Greg and Lisa.
Compare to this old picture, probably from around 2003.
From left: Nick, Andrew (bending over), L in front, Steve, Chris, Kelly and Casey. Everyone except Steve and Kelly still plays, all these years later. They've also repaired the granite steps, so that there aren't gaps between the slabs anymore.
I was so sweaty during and after Ulti, that when I shook out my wet hair, it turned my fingers all purple!
I showered and then got ready to go to town for brunch on my own, and a little grocery shop.

I remembered partway through Sunday that I got a pair of pants at Winesday. Caro's Mom, Hazel, sent these awesome high-waist trousers for me - she knows I like funky clothes!
On Sunday, L and I both slept in, then walked to town to meet up with our fabulous friends to celebrate Nick's and Ross' birthdays (both in the past couple of weeks). It's a long weekend tradition of us all gathering, one that I love.

Srsly----so much goodness :)ReplyDelete
Aw, thanks, sweetie!Delete
orange leather shorts!! how awesome is that? I love the profile pic of V - handsome boy. xoxReplyDelete
I know, I'm very Visible! They were a little impractical for sitting, but I looked great standing!Delete
Vizzini is so pretty. :)
What a fun-filled weekend! We too played a disc sport (golf, not ulti), played some board games, and hung out with friends. Weekends are the best!ReplyDelete
That sounds wonderful, Charlotte! They are the best indeed!Delete
Oh MY Gosh, that wasn't a blog post, it was a graphic novel! Guess I'll start at the beginning (a very good place to start). Lavender dress is very pretty and looks really nice with your ink. I confess to not knowing anything about Ultimate Frisbee. I know how to play Frisbee, but what makes it "Ultimate"?ReplyDelete
My Sylvester is a "flopper" too! I would so wear that outfit with the orange leather shorts; it looks comfortable AND fabulous!
Lol, yeah, I'm a maximalist in my posts as well as my wardrobe. ;-PDelete
Ultimate is like other sports:
*Soccer - lots of running around up and down the field. The disc can get knocked down, missed or intercepted - then it goes to the other team. Lots of back-and-forth and trading possession until you score.
*Football - you catch the disc in the endzone to score (no running it in).
*Basketball - you can't "travel" or run with the disc; you have to throw it within 10 seconds.
It's a super-fun, and very active sport! It also allows men and women to play as equals, as it's non-contact. It's also self-policed (if you feel you've been fouled, you call it, and there is no arguing).
Aw, here's to our flop-cats! And to leather shorts!
Great post. Love reading about the frisbee game.ReplyDelete
Thanks, Ally! It's a really fun sport to play.Delete
Looks like you had a BLAST of a weekend my friend... how'd you make it to Monday !?ReplyDelete
Love the lavender dress but think you totally kick ass in those orange leather shorts, seriously woman you're looking soooo good !
Heh, yes, it was awesome! I just dragged myself around on Monday. :)Delete
Thank you so much!
You have such interesting collections: Vogs, friends and bling. I love it!! You're totally rocking the orange shorts! Love themReplyDelete
Yup, I definitely collect things! Thanks, Kathryn!Delete
Addendum to my last comment on the orange shorts . . .they would be too matchy matchy with the vintage orange leather italian moto jacket I scored at the GW boutique (aka Goodwill thrift store), but they're hutzpah reminded me of the jacket. I can't wait to wear it when this inferno in California finally cools off.ReplyDelete
Oh yes, they would definitely be TOO MUCH with the matchy jacket. We'll let that style stay back in the 80s, lol. However, worn as separates, yes, yes, YES! I'd love to see your orange jacket!Delete
Such a fabulous weekend you had, lots of activities, lots of coolness and lots of friends!. I love your swooshy dress, so cool patchwork print and satiny texture. And you look gorgeous wearin ti, with your awesome bijouterie and kimono jacket!ReplyDelete
I like your Sunday outfit, those orange shorts are amazing and you look so cool!! so lovely!!. And such a great party time!
Thank you, my dear! I loved jangling and having all the layers on for chillin' with my friends. Thanks!Delete
What a lovely weekend! I really like that patchwork dress, it's so pretty, and with all the bling it's even better!ReplyDelete
