It's All About the Skirt

I had originally intended to wear a navy blouse (this one) with this skirt and shoes, but changed to a plain white shirt at the last minute.
Because it's all about the skirt. And O! what a skirt, I think you will agree.

  • Shirt - Tommy Hilfiger, thrifted; last worn here in June with Shoes My Husband Hates
  • Skirt - Maeve, thrifted; last seen here in January with a triple flare
  • Shoes - Go Fresh, thrifted; last worn here in June with crackle and pink

I am not really a huge fan of a plain white shirt, but when it's well-fitted it can be an incredibly useful piece for really letting a special piece take centre stage.

This skirt is such an item. It's an Anthropologie brand that I found at the Patch last year for $16.95.
I "altered" it by pulling the waist in with safety pins - I am crafty like that, ha ha!

The stuff:
Oranges and navy - such a great combo. I love how comfy these shoes are!

Orange bling:
My WW group loved this outfit, and I felt like a million bucks. That's really what it's all about, isn't it?

  • Belt - vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Necklace - Banana Republic, consignment
  • Mis-matched earrings - don't remember
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

  1. That is such an awesome skirt - and while the navy would have been nice it it I'm really liking the white! Like you said it lets the skirt shine even more :)

I love outfits like these - something you look and feel great in! Always makes me more ruthless with whatever I wear the next day though - if it doesn't feel as good to wear as the wonderful outfit before!

  2. Love, love, love this outfit Sheila! I agree that sometimes a simple white shirt does the outfit more justice than throwing another colour/pattern into the mix. My only other comment was that I had hoped to see your orange shoes as I scrolled down, but apart from that this is perfect! Have a wonderful weekend x

  5. Fabulous outfit! I'm a huge fan of orange and navy together, too (ditto for grey and orange).

Big hugs, happy weekend wishes, and many heartfelt thanks for your lovely b-day wishes,

  6. How about a billion bucks ?
I really like how this came together and think it was wise to throw in that white shirt.
You look lovely in that first picture.

  7. lovely skirt and fabulous ensemble, I agree about White shirts, they're not a favorite of mine, but they're useful!. You look really gorgeous and love particularly how your necklace enhances that White shirt!

  9. I love this skirt, Sheila - the whole outfit is fabulous on you. The sheer black overskirt with orange adds to the interest for me. (I looked at your January post and wow! what a useful skirt, again you've created a completely new outfit equally stunning.) I can't wear collars! They seem to "crush" me but you certainly don't look "crushed" in this white shirt! Thanks for sharing.
