Oh man, what a crazy day! Like my US friends, I always take US Thanksgiving off (L and I and some friends hang at home and watch football), so I'm taking this Thursday and Friday off. Of course, that means I have to get 5 days' worth of work done in 3. Oy.
And onward. Enough complaining!
A colour combination I wouldn't have done before: olive green, black and a black/white houndstooth. This is my olive cardigan (last worn here, with a touch of mustard) worn over a tonally-complementary green cami (not part of the capsule). I put those with my houndstooth pencil skirt (last seen here with purple legs).
In order for the cooler toned black and white to work with the warm tones in the cardi/cami, I needed some gold to warm it up, and a little more black to ground it.
The tights are a textured bronze-colour, and the necklace (sorry, no close-up - I still have all my stuff on to go do my WW meeting shortly) and other accessories are all brown-bronze. The black leather obi and the shoes (last worn here with my Artist outfit, past the vintage shopping finds) ground everything nicely.
Cardigan (Press), cami (Smart Set), skirt (Bianca Nygard, consignment), shoes (Bata, vintage, consignment), necklace/earrings (Plum).
Look what arrived in the mail today!
A wonderful surprise from Tamera at The Menopausal Supermodel! She steampunked up the card with gears - the lower right gear is 3D! I love that the owl has a little watch and top hat on!The necklace is SO amazing! And she made it herself!
OMG, little gears, and a gas mask! |
Thank you, Tamera! I love it so much! I'll be wearing it soon.
*For those of you who've ever wondered about my blog title, "ephemera" or the adjective "ephemeral" means thing that are fleeting or don't last. Heh, my little dig at fashion and its changeability. Read more about the definition here. It's pronounced "eh-FEM-er-uh."
I like the mix of the patterned tights and the houndstooth skirt. Have a fun long weekend!

I love the crazy patterns of the tights and skirt together. And what gems you received, custom steam-punked. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteGreat skirt and I love that color shirt. Your belt is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteWow, your new necklace from Tamera is awesome! Love your look, with that teeny-tiny waist thing going on : >
ReplyDeleteTamera is incredibly talented. Love the necklace and the card.
ReplyDeleteYou do print and texture mixes so well, but the pop of olive really makes this outfit. As always, I'm in love with your tights and obi belt. You have such a teeny waist! I'm on the hunt for a herringbone skirt - seems like a "must" :)
That necklace is pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful outfit. Everything just comes together perfectly. The patterned tight are pretty and the olive and houndstooth look great together.
As always, Sheila you look fab.
This is such an interesting combination! I will be saving this for future reference, as I told you before, I have a similar houndstooth dress and am always looking for new ways to wear it!
ReplyDeleteGood for you taking time off - you'll have more time off than me and I live in the US! Ha! Enjoy your long weekend!

ReplyDeleteLove the outfit!!
I'm glad you like your stuff!! I thought of you when I was rooting through my stash and came across the picture. It NEEDED to be seen-LOLOL. There's one of this lady 30's era holding a goose that is whack!!
Oooh! Tamera is absolutely fab-u-lous. The necklace is totally perfect for you. I like the dash of green with this outfit, especially with the leather obi.
ReplyDeleteI love your articulation of the function of the gold, which adds a wonderful richness. Gorgeous proportions too!
