Bigass Weekend Wrap-Up: Funky Friday F-Trips; Bright Brunch With Tentacles

Welcome back, my friends! It's been a blustery weekend over here on the west coast of Canada, and we've mostly been hunkering down and trying to stay warm.

However, one must work, so this is what I wore on Friday to the office.

I pulled out the funky for the end of the week, building my outfit around these new boots.

  • Leather "Buffy" dress - Danier Leather, vintage 80s, thrifted; last worn here in October 2021 with mustard for a Fluevog shop with Vero
  • Sweater - Karl Lagerfeld, consignment; last seen here in January with my Tsarina vest at Swan Lake
  • Boots - Warhol F-Trip, Fluevog x Anna Sui; purchased here (with the help of gift cards) for $749.00
  • Eclipse coat (below) - Welsh, vintage 60s, consignment; first worn here in October

After work I had a haircut, then wandered around downtown a bit before meeting up with L for dinner at Fiamo.
It was a nice change of pace.

My Buffy leather slip-dress survives another year, but I did find it on the short side.
Opaque tights might have felt better, but these micro-fishnet ones worked best colourwise.

Masked up.
I showed my boots off to a few people at work, who were very impressed, as was Kaitlyn, my hairdresser.

Outerwear.
I felt so snazzy as I wandered around town in this outfit, including popping into the Fluevog store to show Daxon my outfit.

Accoutrements:
The black fedora survived, although I had to grip the brim a few times to keep it from sailing off my head in the gusts of wind.

  • Fedora - Zara, consignment
  • Gloves - Parkhurst
  • Mask - by Mom
  • Scarf - Alexander McQueen, consignment, Vancouver

The stuff:
These boots were fabulous and comfy to wear all day, but after strolling around town for more than an hour - getting to my haircut appointment, then having a wander before meeting up with L - my dogs were howlin'. My poor feet - I am so sorry for all the mistreatment in my teens and 20s.

Copper bling:
I do love footwear that goes with my copper collection!

  • Bracelet - Renoir, vintage 50s, vintage fair
  • Pin - thrifted
  • Cuff - Renoir, vintage 50s, Grandma J's
  • Ring - vintage, consignment
  • Shiny copper rings - Glee
  • Earrings - vintage expo
  • Necklace - vintage, consignment

L and I played boardgames in the evening and chilled out.
"You should just let me sleep on you."

Vizzini, helpful as always.

Saturday morning saw sunshine but still very high winds. I saw that 70,000 people in the southwest of BC were without power due to fallen trees/knocked down power lines! Better get the candles and flashlights ready!
We went to the Ruby for brunch, then had to do some errands in town, as well as a grocery shop.

  • Sweatshirt - The Kooples, thrifted; first worn here (2nd outfit) for brunch with purple velour
  • Skirt - Danier Leather, vintage 80s, thrifted; first seen here in August with neon yellow and pink
  • Boots - Slacker Vagabond, Fluevog; first worn here just a few days ago with PANK
  • Tentacle coat (below) - Prosper & Devine, vintage mall; last seen here in January

Why not wear these fabulous boots again right away? It's not like I saw anyone "in the wild" who'd seen them before!
I don't have a ton in my closet in the fall/winter that's lime green, but this funky skull/snake printed sweatshirt does have some acid green in it. Good enough!

I loved wearing this long thick leather skirt again.
I tucked one side of the sweatshirt into it so that it wouldn't be too droopy looking.

Masked up.
This thin purple scarf doesn't provide a lot of warmth.

  • Scarf - thrifted
  • Mask - by Mom

Outerwear.
Are you ready for my suede Tentacle Coat? So fringy!

  • Purse - Sonia Rykiel, thrifted

You either love it or hate it - there are no "meh" feelings about it.
L and I had to go to Eddie Bauer (an outdoor/sporty type of shop) to buy him some sub-zero outerwear and gloves for an upcoming trip to the interior of BC (where it is VERY cold and snowy already). Believe me when I tell you that no one in that store dressed like me! I got some odd looks.

  • Beret - consignment
  • Leather/cashmere gloves - Danier Leather

I set all the Accoutrements on my table, but forgot to take the actual picture. This is why I require copious amounts of coffee in the mornings.

The stuff:
Oh, sweet lime boots - you are going to be worn a LOT.

Grey and green bling:
I was pleased with how well the lime green stones of the bracelet, the green (real) beetle pendant encased in acrylic and the purple enamel of the earrings went with the outfit. Matchy!

  • Green stone bracelet - vintage 1930s, vintage mall
  • Leather cuff - Rimanchik, thrifted
  • Bug pendant - Heart's Content
  • Silver/onyx ring - Toccara, vintage fair
  • Silver/amethyst ring - vintage mall
  • Earrings - POLY, consignment

Vizzini lurked around, waiting for his food:
"It feels like dinner time, Woman."

As I continued to ignore him, he went to find L to pester.
"Caught in the act."

Aw, he's in full-on drool/cuddle mode here. You can even spot a drop of drool ready to fall on L's shirt.

I hope your weekend has been full of cuddles and chill times, my friends. Thanks so much for stopping by my little corner of the blogosphere!

  2. I hope both pairs of fabulous new boots made the awful weather conditions a little easier to bear! I love the "tentacle jacket" and the blue leather skirt is such a great piece.
Those outdoorsy shops scare the bejesus out of me, too!
That photo of L and Vizzini is just adorable! xxx

  3. Hi Sheila, hope you had a good weekend.
Love the Leather Slip Dress, but wondering why you now say that it’s on the short side, have you always found it too short for you or has it shrunk over time?
Also love the Leather pencil skirt.
Do you still wear your black maxi floor length (with the slight train) leather skirt? That’s one of my favourites.

  4. I love both pairs of boots and how you manage to make them work with your outfit, they just fit in so perfectly, despite being so statement making, you see the outfit not just the boots, if that makes sense? It's been a long day! I do so love both outfits!

  5. We had a lovely weekend starting with good hospital results on Friday, and ending just now treating ourselves on a takeaway because we got our second booster jabs. Those new boots are out of this world. I could look for a hour at them and just......well drool.... just like Vizzini.

  6. What amazing boots they are and you looked fabulous in them and the outfits you chose. I particularly love your copper bling and the accessories with the lime green boots.

Hope you have a great week and that it's not too cold...

  7. Those funky Fluevog boots are fabulous, Sheila and indeed they do go extremely well with your amazing copper bling. Hearing you on the leather slip dress being on the short side - it would definitely be for me - but YOU are really rocking it. Wearing it with a snazzy pair of opaques would be even better, I think.
Saturday's outfit is gorgeous too. Those boots, leather skirt and tentacle coat are a sight for sore eyes, but I can understand you must have stood out a mile in that outdoor shop. Not my favourite place either, by the way. Odd looks indeed, those outdoorsy types must be mad in the head :-)
Oh, hello Vizzini! Glad to hear Bess is not the only cat who drools all over the place. xxx

  8. The Warhol-F-Trip boots are grooooovy, Baby, but I let out a little squeal at the sight of the lime green ones! I LOVE the colour.
