I am so glad this is a short work-week! Today was rather hectic, shall we say?
- Dress - White Stuff; purchased here for $22.50
- Sleeveless mock-neck sweater - Twik, thrifted; last worn here in October 2019 with my Hallowe'en outfit
- Boots - Clarks; last seen here in November 2019 with autumn camo
- Coat (below) - Hilary Radley, thrifted; last worn here in December 2019
First wearing of this new corduroy dress - and it will need a name, since searching on my blog for "white" or "stuff" will get a million results. Suggestions welcome!
I loved this dress, but since it's not lined, it does cling a bit to tights, but not to the point where this can only be worn with bare legs. A minor cling is all.
I love the pockets on this dress - they are nice and deep and the fabric is really stretchy.
Outerwear - it is Unsafe Ocelot weather.

Happy New Year, Sheila! There cut of your new dress is flattering and practical. Great find! The pattern reminds me of brown dominoes with copper doilies scattered on top. The kind of patterned dress I envision being appropriate at a 60s party in a wood paneled bungalow! Groovy!

DeleteHappy new year! :) Hope that the new year and new decade are starting great for you! :) I can't think of a name of the dress although I'm sure you will think of a great one! I'm always a little annoyed when I didn't give items a descriptive enough name when I first wore them on the blog - it makes it tricky finding the posts I want when I'm searching for the last ways I've worn things. I ended up looking through last year's photos on the computer to find an outfit I'd worn something with so I could use more descriptive terms to search for it and see what I'd called it last time, haha!

I have a lot of things by certain brands too (Danier, Club Monaco, Banana Republic), so it's a lot of scrolling when I'm looking for my "last worn" - you totally get it! I don't save all of my pictures, so I can't even look through them.

I'm hearing you on the clinging problem, but surely having pockets more than makes up for this "sticky" problem. Couldn't you wear some sort of slip underneath? I love those beat-up boots too. ReplyDeleteI enjoy layering dresses for winter too, perhaps because I find most dresses quite comfortable. People always get surprised when I tell them that I actually feel comfy in a dress. Most jeans I own are vintage and hence zero stretch so they aren't comfy at all. Good quality vintage jeans are rarely comfy.
Thank you, Ivana! Such great timing, that we both layered our dresses. I will pick a dress over nearly anything else, they are that much more comfortable than any other article of clothing. I rarely wear jeans, but yes, those zero-stretch vintage ones are not comfy!

ReplyDeleteSheila, do you have any advice about what material makes for the best slip? Sometimes I wind up wearing a slip that seems to generate its own static electricity. :( My daughter-in-law suggested only wearing cotton (or mostly cotton) leggings or tights, as they do not seem to cling, but I have had a difficult time finding cotton/mostly cotton tights that are colorful or interesting.
And, most of all - Here's to a healthy, fun, colorful and delightful 2020 to you, L and V!

DeleteFor slips, I always go vintage, and they are always 100% nylon. Those slips have lasted for decades and they don't get clingy. I don't notice much difference with cotton tights (I have a few pairs) for clinging, but you need a nylon slip (silk might work, but it's hard to find). Polyester tends to get staticky.
This dress is life! I absolutely love the colors and the pattern and the fact that it is corduroy and feels like wearing jammies! You can’t go wrong. The patterned tights are perfect for shaking things up and your coat is magnificent. Wishing you all the best in 2020!
