What a delightful weekend it's been...and it's not even over yet.
This is what I wore out for brunch with L on Saturday. We didn't have enough players for Ulti, so we had a chill-out day and rested up for the evening.- Blouse - Violet + Claire, consignment; first worn here in April with a gone dress
- Skirt - no label, handmade, thrifted; last seen here in August 2014 with my Gaga jacket
- Shoes - Aldo, thrifted; purchased here for $18.95 on Friday
- Jacket (below) - Lord & Taylor, thrifted; last worn here in May for the Day of Indolence
I was quite pleased with this combination of floral and the dark red/black pinstripe of the skirt.
This skirt's been packed away for winter, but it's a favourite - I love the metallic "ribbon" borders. I'm always amazed at how lovely the quality is. Whoever handmade it did a nice job.
My squirmy monster was lurking around.

"Must you subject me to this indignity?" |
It was a bit chilly, so I wore my favourite coat.
Perfect for running a few errands after brunch.
The stuff:
The first wearing of these new-to-me shoes, and I loved them. No rubbing at all. I anticipate wearing these until they fall apart.
Blue bling:
I liked the blue accents, pulled from the blue in the blouse's pattern.
- Earrings - local
- Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
Winesday was in the evening, so spent a couple of relaxing hours in the afternoon making a little "thank you" tile for our host, Linda.
This is about 4 x 4" and is done in fine felt pen and a gold liquid ink marker.
This is my first time trying the gold marker.
I liked the shininesss of it.
After a nap, I changed to comfy clothes for Winesday.
I'm laughing because seconds before the camera timer went off, my skirt was ballooned from the wind.
- Sweater - Topshop, consignment; first worn here in May with polka dots and pearls
- Skirt - Cream, vintage 80s, consignment; purchased here in December 2015 for $21.50
- Shoes - Noa Noa, consignment; first worn here (4th outfit) last weekend with the lettuce dress
This was the perfect comfortable outfit for a long evening of carousing with my favourite women.
The skirt twirls beautifully, and it has a nice open part at the front (I wore a vintage half-slip under it) so that it doesn't feel too overwhelming.
"What are all these bags doing here?" |
And pockets too! I love a skirt with pockets.
The stuff:
I made a bit of effort with the bling.
- Earrings - Fossil, thrifted
- Lapis lazuli ring and Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
I staggered home around 3am, and slept in late today. How luxurious!
A nice Sunday outfit.
- Top - Noul, thrifted; last worn here last weekend with white clamdiggers
- Skirt - Lauren Conrad, thrifted; first worn here (3rd outfit) in March for Easter lunch at Mom's
- Shoes - Franco Sarto, consignment; last worn here in May in a pre- and post-Ulti outfit
I got groceries, then wandered down to the Bay to see if they had any sheets on sale. Our sheets have worn out after 10 years (!), but they are really high thread count, so maybe that's a thing? I've never had sheets wear out before. I bought a set of 600 thread-count for 40% off and got myself a $40 gift card for having a bunch of points. I rarely do any kind of points systems, but I'm a fan of the Hudson's Bay Company, what with it being the oldest existing company in the world - since 1670! (Wiki link here because I find it interesting).
This skirt swooshed most satisfactorily as I walked around.
The stuff:
Weekend shoes!
- Earrings - local
I might have had a little wander around the Bay to see if anything interesting caught my eye (since I had that gift card). I couldn't resist a new fuzzy leopard skirt. I just gave my old one away last night at Winesday!
Yes, this is the matching bottom to this top here. You know I love the matchy!
It was marked down to $26.70 from $89.00.
But free with my gift card!

Love the colours of your Sunday outfit! :)
ReplyDeleteI really like your denim maxi skirt too. The one I've had my eye on went on sale so I bought it, just hoping that since my size was sold out the next one will work fir me. It's a good sign seeing you wearing yours though, right?! haha!
Thanks! I am a sucker for a long denim skirt. I think this is my 5th or 6th since I started my blog!
DeleteLoving your new hairstyle! And you make that long denim skirt sing. My cat loves me too, and makes that same face when I pick her up . xox

Weekend hair! I hate this growing out stage. Hee, they really do love us, though!
DeleteSilver footwear seems to be the Silver Week Linkup item of choice so far. Blingy feet are fun (as long as they're not in pain) and thanks for your addition.
ReplyDeleteAh, Hudson's Bay -- one of the items that I purchased on my ill-fated honeymoon in Nova Scotia was a traditional red Hudson's Bay blanket (when in Canada, buy the Canadian thing). I'm still using it after 18 years -- more durable than the marriage! One would think I wouldn't need such a heavy wool blanket in Southern CA, but our home is not insulated very well, nor do we have decent heat, and when it gets down to 45 at night, it's chilly! Mr Lou the cat votes yes on it too.
Loving your new leopard skirt. I want one of those!
If I had a silver dress, I'd wear it for you, Anne! Nice! The Bay still sells those blankets!
DeleteI like how your hair looks styled this way.
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's a little change.
DeleteLovely outfits as always, Sheila. I do love swishy. swooshy skirts, too!

Swooshy skirts are the best!
DeleteThe fuzzy sweater, long chambray skirt and silver flats... You're lucky I don't live nearby or I'd be knocking on the door asking to borrow these. AND of course others..
ReplyDeleteHa, I know!
DeleteLorena beat me to it with her comment. I love the fluffy sweater and maxi skirt - it looks to be such a comfortable outfit. Your clothes give away sounds like a great idea, and such fun for everyone too x

The plumy-maroon colour palette of the first outfit stopped me in my tracks. So elegant, so beautiful, and so very amazing on you, dear Shelia.
