Aug 24th & 25th - Outfits #25 & 26 - Finally, the Weekend!

First of all, THANK YOU, to all of you who left such uplifting, kind, inspiring and soothing comments on my "crisis" post from Thursday. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. You are the best readers ever!

I am feeling much more myself and got right back on that fashionable horse with a couple of classic Sheila outfits.

Friday:
My little vintage blouse makes its second appearance (last worn here, with the dreaded lime pants). I tucked it into the A-line denim skirt (last seen here), belted it (the skirt has a high waist), and tossed on my olive jacket (last worn here).
The lime shoes (last worn here) were a nice break for my feet and worked with the lime in the blouse.

Every clothing item I'm wearing today is thrifted or swapped! Cool.

The stuff:
The earrings are "home-grown vintage" - I bought them in the mid-90s when long broomstick skirts were worn with oversize crocheted sweaters. I worked briefly at a mall store called LA Express, an offshoot of Suzy Shier, a Canadian chain.

Jacket (Bianca Nygard Weekend, thrifted), blouse (no label, thrifted), denim skirt (Bebe, swap from Caro), shoes (Circa by Joan & David, thrifted), belt (Plum), earrings (vintage 90s), cuff (SkinZHydez), choker (vintage 60s, Mom's).

I worked through lunch yesterday, so I took a late afternoon break and went to the thrift shop around the corner. I found this fabulous navy blue cotton velvet blazer:
The tailoring on it is fabulous. It's by Armor Jeans and was $12.00.

I also went back to Dots to get a cardigan for one of my fall wardrobes:
It was just at regular price ($24.99) but it's a great cut, good quality and an excellent layering basic. It's by Press.

Today, I'm about to head off to my WW meeting (I haven't been for several weeks, due to my tattoo and travel).
I'll also be doing lunch with L and then going to a couple of thrift stores after, so I need to be wearing stuff that's good for trying things on.

My yellow strapless dress (last worn here) has been unexpectedly awesome in this capsule.
A neutral blazer is a classic - of course, I just wore this blazer yesterday. The Chie Miharas (last worn here) are getting their first shopping test. I'll see if they can make most of the day without a bandaid!

Jacket (Bianca Nygard Weekend, thrifted), dress (Jacob, consignment), shoes (Chie Mihara), earrings (Plum).

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  2. Hooray! Glad you're feeling back to rights.

The shapes and quality of your new items look excellent.

First outfit is really nice - all great pieces, playing so well together! I especially like your second outfit's harmonious combination of muted solids.

  5. Woo, I'm glad you're still being yourself. Both outfits are totally you. I love your green army style jacket. It's a perfect completer piece.

Finding a good cardi is like finding a good pair of black pants (seemingly easy, but nearly impossible in reality)

Goodluck on the shopping! Hope your flats hold up for you.

  6. Hi Sheila, I was away towards the end of the weekend and missed your wardrobe crisis. I amsure after reading all the lovely comments that you feel supported. It 's never nice to have a style wobble but it is certainly reassuring to hear you have them too. I love your style and the variety you put into your outfits - and get daily inspiration from you. Glad a good walk put it all in perspective.

  8. We all have moments of insecurity -- coincidentally I just wrote about that on my blog a few hours ago. What I concluded was we should support our fellow bloggers with the warmth in our hearts. You, Sheila, have been a major inspiration and joy to many of us. You deserve a medal!

  9. I'm relieved that the crisis has passed. I was very, very worried to read the "moment of doubt." Quite like the v-stitching on this particular denim skirt.

  10. yey I'm glad that you're wearing and continuing to rock the lime green! Even if it's just a little in your print and shoes :)

Really like the green and yellow with the dress and blazer in your second outfit. I have recently discovered how well green and yellow work together and I like wearing it :)

Speaking of awesome - the denim skirt is awesome. I love it. Perfect length too.

  12. That is a great denim skirt. I like it much better than the one with the big buttons you had in an earlier capsule that you decided to consign.

Would you consider selling me the dreaded Smoking Lily lime pants? =)
