On Friday, I built my outfit around my regret-me-not picnic plaid skirt and my as-yet-unworn concert tee from the Jason Isbell show a while back.
This felt just right - I had enough Clothing As Armour for the day.

- Raincoat (below) - Avoca; last worn here in October 2021
If I look a little strained here, it's because I was! I was emotionally ragged following the VIP visit, and feeling worn very thin after such a busy week.
The studded jacket is a long-time favourite found at the Patch years ago.
It's vintage Dolce & Gabbana and is missing a few studs.
But then, aren't we all? Har har.
It's lined in leopard mesh.
Without the jacket, although I never took it off.
I'll probably sleep in this tee going forward.
We awoke to a rainy day.

This blurry pic totally represents my state of mind on Friday.
I lugged the last of the seven huge totes of leftover clothes from the Winesday clothing swap to work that morning - and the last bag was a big paper one (oh, you can see where this is going...).
The bag broke, and I ended up clutching all of the clothes to me and briskly walking the last few blocks to the office in the rain. When I got there, I broke too, and sat at my desk and cried for a few minutes. Thanks to my amazing colleagues Carol (for the hugs) and Glenn (for giving a me a wide berth in the morning and for distracting me with a mini field trip in the afternoon).

It's been so long...and I'd forgotten that - as an introvert - all these activities don't restore my battery, they drain it. I made it through my day (including a 3-hour window of clothing giveaways with my coworkers), and then it was the weekend.

Cat, Yvonne and I had discussed pulling another all-nighter to watch King Charles' coronation, just like we did for Harry and Megan's wedding (back here in 2018), but with the crazy week we'd all had, it ended up being Randall, Yvonne, L and me.
Yvonne made cucumber sandwiches.
She even cut the crusts off!
So KLASSY.
She and Randall arrived at 10pm, just as L and I were finishing up a game of Race for the Galaxy.
I napped for 2 hours after work, and am in my comfy clothes, with no make-up and my house glasses on.

Randall slipped away before midnight. For the rest of us, it was all a,"This is a momentous event, we have to witness it live," kind of thing.
Yup, that's a bigass crown. What a spectacle.
I think this is around 5:30am - the deck is light, so the sun's coming up. I changed out of my wooly sweater dress into leggings and a lighter wool dress. L wore his Powell River Kings jersey (get it?) and put on his gold satin robe to emulate Chuck's.
Well done on walking home on less than an hour's sleep, honey!
Ha, I can see flecks of glitter on my boots. My whole house is full of glitter. Why? You'll see in a bit!
In addition to our yummy cucumber sandwiches, we laid in supplies of candy and snacks.
Pita chips (and cheesy puff, not shown), wine gums, Twizzlers red licorice, English-made Cadbury chocolate, some caramel bars (yummy), bars of Canadian-made Cadbury's chocolate (fruit & nut is my favourite), and some mini licorice allsorts. We also had lots of refreshing beverages to keep us going all night.

Vizz missed having his usual evening telly-watching time, stretched out on me or L, so he appropriated Yvonne.
We started watching at 1am, and it finished at 6am (one of the "joys" of being on the west coast - you're always way behind).
Yvonne walked home in the morning sunshine.
L and I crashed into bed at 6am and slept till noon, then got up and made ourselves presentable, and did a grocery shop and some errands in town.
Due to yet another event on Saturday evening, I stayed in this outfit.
It's the jammiest of Jammy Dresses!
I layered a burgundy cami underneath, plus my little sport-shorts over the lacy tights.
Total comfort, plus pockets.
I also needed some mental fortitude so Stompin' Boots. Stay outta my way!
I also flat-ironed my hair for a little extra badassery.
The print on the dress is desert flora and fauna, including scorpions and snakes.
This is how I looked most of the afternoon and evening.
We had a little bit of time at home before we headed out for our final event of the weekend - Roller Derby!
I was misled by L that he would putting Vlad the Jag convertible's top down. I would have worn my scarf like this if he had!

On one of my two free afternoons this past week (Monday), I'd bought poster-board, glue, glitter and sticky hologram letters to make signs to cheer on our dear friend Jean (long-time Winesday Woman) in her debut with local roller derby team, the Margarita Villains, one of the house teams in the Eves of Destruction stable (Eves of Destruction link here, and Margarita Villains here, all links 'cause I love!).
Jean's handle is Silver Rogue, so I customized 2 signs (the pink ones) for her. I got a little loopy and carried away by the time I finished (it took about two hours to make these!). Guess which one I did last!
L and I arrived at the Archie Browning Sports Centre (aka the Esquimalt arena) and were immediately spotted by Jean, who was getting her make-up on.
Look at that badass babe! Jean's in her 40s, and I'm boggled and so damned proud of her for pursuing this dream. She has been a member of the Eves (starting just before the pandemic) for 4 years, and this is her debut with the Margarita Villains!
L and I enjoyed the last half of the hometown team Daisy Pushers against the victorious out-of-town Grave Diggers. If you've never watched roller derby before, an easy-to-understand tutorial video here.
The Margarita Villains were matched up with Grunge City, a team from Seattle, Washington. Jean's in the silver helmet on the right (she's the shorter one).
They did some warm-ups before the match (you can see the score screen on the right).
The audience was on folding chairs on the concrete floor of the rink (this is a curling rink for part of the year), in various roped-off sections.

This was an awesome event, with a beer garden, food, pies (there was a line-up, they must be good!) and kids selling "tuck shop" treats to fund-raise. There was also people selling tickets for a 50-50 draw - the guy sitting in front of us won over $300!
Game on!!
We loved the intensity and the offense/defense push-pull of the game.
This is a physical intense sport - I have immense respect for these strong women!! There's Jean, with the Jammer Star on her helmet on the right.

It wrapped up around 9pm (games have 2 x 30 minute halves, with a 20-minute intermission), and I was wiped out.

L and I each bought Margarita Villains tees - these are their old logos. The new ones look a little too bright and modern for my taste.
They were selling off the stock of these for $10 each.

Despite our tiredness, L and I drove home, had a late dinner, then hung out with Mister Kitty.
"Oh, is it finally MY time?"
We played a game of Arkham Horror. We were both nodding off near the end!
"And I helped!"
Yes, kitty assistance during the game, which consists of pawing at the game pieces and trying to steal elastic bands. Little monster.
A relaxing and chill Sunday is just what the doctor ordered. I'm so glad I'm back to my regular schedule again this week.
