Today was HOT, like up to 30+ degrees. Yes, I roasted in this when I was outside.
But I was mostly in my AC'd office, so I was actually okay.
The sheer top protected me from the sun on the way to work, and I have cotton shorts under the light-as-a-feather silk skirt.

They're good for office work. Walking? Not so much.
It was pleasantly cool on the way to work, but I was very happy to get on the cold-air-blowing bus on the way home.

Rosanna spotted a bird on a balcony just above us.
That's no ordinary bird!

I checked my Merlin app - "Not in Victoria today"!
She went online later that night and verified it.
A screenshot from my phone - she thought for sure it was an American Dipper.
Rosanna's online group chat all verified that's what it was - they thought that the water feature in front of the hotel must've had a lot of insects for it to eat.
I happily added it to my Life List!
A couple of hours later...the Coho pulled out again, heading back to Port Angeles, in Washington.
We all joked that the dipper came over on it from the US.

Jennifer gave out our next book, "Leviathan Wakes" - this is what the TV show "The Expanse" is based on although I have not seen that.
I'm excited to read it - it's a massive book, but looks like a romp.
I had a very stingy salad for dinner, followed by this chocolate thing.
Was very good, did not share.

DeleteThe vest and the silk maxi skirt are a match made in fashion heaven. I like the top, too...but I feel this combo would work with a variety of tops. I also imagine it would look fantastic with a pussybow blouse or shirt.
ReplyDelete30+ ....lucky you. In Mostar, it's 40 to 50 degrees in Summer. 30+ is a welcome refreshment here. We actually had some rain, so it was around 30 plus...I'm so grateful. I managed to go out onto my balcony first time in weeks. Usually it is so scorching hot that it is impossible to come out even in the afternoon hours. I love Mostar, but I don't recommend anyone visiting it in Summer. Any other season, and it is the perfect city to visit.
They are a good pairing! I agree - I could wear a lot of different tops with the vest (and skirt).

P.S. So cool you met your reader. I once met a blogger friend from Germany, it was fun. I also met one blogger from my hometown, a lovely lady as well. It's nice when we meet people through our blogs. I feel that (especially when you have been reading someone's blog for a long time), there is a genuine connection.

DeleteI appreciated seeing that dramatic vest again, it really is splendid. The patio reminds me of holidays, and I love that you could see the ferry. So much action on the water, I love ports and docks. I hope you all enjoy the new book. The sunset is gorgeous, I can almost see one of your outfits using those colours!

DeleteWhat a sunset! I'm a fan of your patchwork vest and can finally truly imagine the silky softness of your grand skirt. For Robin and Emma's wedding (2 weeks from today!!!!!) a friend loaned me a silk dress (hazaah, made in Italy!) to wear and it is the softest, smoothest, strong yet light weight silk I have ever felt. If you want to drool over the dress (that should let you know how much I like it ;-)) you can see it at the link below. Ha ha, don't look at the price tag! I'm going to ask her about the dress after I return it fully dry cleaned.

She is a size larger than me so I will wear it with a belt and heels b/c otherwise it is a smidgeon too long.
I would not have shared the 'chocolate thing' either! The joke in my family is that when the children were younger I would share any food with them but NOT dessert. Book group with your friends in an open air restaurant, ahhhh, perfect! Lastly, Fred has taken to bringing his iPad with him when we visit places outside of NY so he can have Merlin identify the birdsongs. (We are currently in PA visiting his brother, hence my backlog of reading your posts.) Cheers, Laurie
